I think that the difference is the attitude, she says that she saw universes were they end up working in the same side, so knowing that makes her get desperate and use more intense methods that would clearly back Sinclair away meanwhile it seems Faust manipulated him in a way it didn't scared him away and actually mind broke him. For example, her getting turned by the abnormality down in Sinclair's house seemed like a breaking point since at first Kromer just seemed like a pushy friend at Sinclair's point of view, but after seeing her react like that she was clearly a lunatic under his view which would reduce their trust. Considerating this identity it seems that if Kromer hadn't tried to rush things up that much, Sinclair would have actually accepted to join at his own will since he wasn't much fond of prosthetics anyways, specially his family's ones

The mark is made of 3 lines and is supposed to represent a bird's wing, this is an allusion to the source novel where it is called the Mark of Cain. Actually getting the full Mark of Cain is supposed to symbolized a person reaching self-actualization and the mark fading represents the person going down the wrong path. Since this version of Sinclair went down the wrong path, the mark is also fading.
Imagine we get an event where each character has their own unique 3 star identity based on them not joining Limbus company to become their own fixer office, and the kicker is Ishmael's identity makes it look like it's basic scuba gear only to reveal an 1800s style diver suit piloting a exoskeleton mech adorned with a trophy of the white whale.
I really hope we will get Ishmael just rage out complettly in her chapter. Extra points if, during this, Heathcliff has to play voice of reason and calm her down for irony.

I'm curious why any character can have the one who grips identity Sinclair's new identity makes sense it's a version of himself if different things happened in his life and he made different choices but Faust just basically becoming kroomer for one of her identities seems very strange to me i can see how Sinclair could get that identity if things happened differently in his life and he made different choices but it's really hard for me to see how Faust could become like kroomer what the same motivations and everything I guess when we get more info about her it will make sense.

The Hell's Chicken IDs for Ryoshu and Gregor are basically them replacing Pierre and Jack, the cannibal chefs from Pierre's Bistro back in Library of Ruina. Outis' section 7 director ID is her replacing the character Dante the director for section 7 also in Library of Ruina. They even use the same abilities, like Outis 7 and Dante 7 both having the same passive "grasping vulnerabilities" and those passives work almost exactly the same in both games. So basically The One Who Grips Faust, is simply a "What if Faust replaced Kromer as the One Who Grips?".
As to not get too into spoiler territory (if you haven't read Leviathan you should totally do that.) But it's basically implied that in the near infinite amount of possibilities of these reflections, people's lives are fated to meet in some way shape or form. As Faust is the one who built Mephistopheles whose to say if given Kromers upbringing and experiences that she also couldn't use her intellect to conscript an army of robot hating zealots and see potential in Mersault when he worked for the same company to make him Guido with the other sinners following suit one way or another.
Heathcliff Kleinhammer cutscenes imply that the folks directly involved with N corp suffer some sort of brain washing through some weird liquid (Probably their singularity). Now try doing that to someone who is clearly too intelligent for their own good and there you have it. You probably could craft hundreds and hundreds of kroomers with enough brain washing and feeding them the right bullshit. Plus the whole "the one who grips" thing could be simply a title she obtained after killing sinclair's family.

Another ID I was thinking of for Sinclair was Xiao Sinclair. I mean, it makes sense a little. Seeing by his Blade ID he got two sides, a tough side and a Femboy side. For mechanics I was thinking of a passive that revolves around a power buff after a certain turn of the fight like Xiao's book from ruina granting a power buff after a certain emotion level.
Jokes aside though, is there some kind of lore about the Cain's mark? Sinners ID's are pretty much uncanonical identities of the sinners but is there an explanation for the Cain's mark on sinclair's forehead missing a single feather(if that's what it's called)? I mean the animation on the ID's PV shows that the mark lightens but then the missing one just fades, surely there's a meaning to this on the lore.
It is still too early to know what role it plays in the lore, the little we know is that Demian and probably Sonya have it. Although there are some pretty interesting theories about it.
