  • The WNBA was not ready for Caitlin Clark. Not on any level. The commissioner wasn't ready. The fan base wasn't ready. The officials weren't ready. The old guard fan base wasn't ready. The pro-WNBA sports media wasn't ready. The players certainly weren't ready. And right now we're only talking about Caitlin Clark's ability to pass the ball as she truly is the best passer the WNBA has ever seen. Period! Let's talk about it!

@@marceybull I believe so. They almost won 2 national titles against stacked teams . In the wnba u can not have superstars coming off the bench and the fever will also have similar talent as other leagues . Iowa was literally facing all star teams and still almost won . And remember it’s not just the style of play , it all centers around having a player being able to orchestrate that offense which is usually almost impossible to have or find . They got it in Caitlin

That’s y there are big calls from the fever fan base to hire lisa bluder. Iowa had no business being in those games . U take Clark off that team I don’t think they make the tourney . No player in the history of college ball had that type of impact on a team. Closest thing I can think of was maybe Dan Marino in the 80’s. U don’t have players that can shoot like curry, pass like magic , and run the fast break like Jason Kidd . It just doesn’t happen normally but it did with Clark not to mention her iq. CAITLIN CLARK'S ASSISTS: WHY SHE IS THE BEST.
Assists require 2 things 1: one player must pass the ball to a second player. 2: the second player must handle the ball and then SCORE.
What makes a player better at getting more assists than another player? How does CC make her teammates better than Aja does? Why does CC get so many assists? 1. Of course, the skill level of the receiver, 2. CC's incredible vision. 3. THE QUALITY of the passes. Two quarterbacks can throw to the same receiver but one throws chest, high on the money while the second QB throws some high, some low, some wide. All may be catchable. But, the QB who is more accurate will complete more passes. CC is the ELITE PASSER

Anyone that remembers the Monday night football game between the Packers and Vikings about 20ish years ago give or take. Brett Favre throws up a prayer that hits Antonio Freeman falling down but never touches the ground. It stays on his back and Freeman grabs it, gets up, and scores the td.
Al Michaels says with the call (eventually)...."He did WHAT"? There's the exact look Jones gives CC after that pass to Boston where she turns round and stomps her feet..."You did WHAT"?

Am I the only one who sees Larry Bird in all this? For me, the similarity is downright eerie, and although it's been obvious to me that certain other players have studied Bird and incorporated some of his moves, I've never seen anyone who overall reminds me so much of Bird's game.
The IQ, the precision, the timing, the skill, the creativity-- imho Bird far surpasses Clark in all of these, but then again, I'm not able to remember and distinguish his rookie play from his later game, so it may well be that she's closer to him in his rookie year than I'm thinking.
Regardless, she's already spectacular, and obviously a workhorse with an incredible love of the game and a fierce ambition to improve, so there's no doubt she'll improve exponentially each year. And as she does, I'm betting she gets even more and more similar to Bird, in her passing and everything else.
I don't see his quick release, his sleight-of-hand, his wily misleadingness, his amazing no-look and tap passes, his level of hustle and aggressive steals and some other things in her game, but I'm thinking those things and others will come in time.
Don't know, though, if she'll ever have a game as witty and funny as Bird's. Again, if I had to bet, I'd bet yes...that once she's taken care of the more fundamental aspects of her game, that will emerge automatically, from what I can tell of her personality.

I read that a high average batter in the MLB can "see" a ball in "slow motion" their brain has "slowed" the action down to a speed where they have more time to swing the bat at where the ball will be. In my opinion, Caitlin has a similar ability. Her eyes are transmitting the action on the court, all the different vectors of players, and their positions, and her brain takes all that input, and in a split second spits out the best option, or even a variety of options that she can pick among to get the best one and bam, aim and release. In other words, she has all the time in the world to solve this complex problem. From the outside looking in it looks impossible, because in our normal brains we only see an impossible number of decisions to make, she's seeing all of those same possibilities, but her brain gives her the ability to have all the time in the world to choose the best of them.

There's never been a player like CC and there won't be another like her. She's the best passer, play maker, dribbler, 3-point shooter and She's great at layups. She's a great player in all areas. With Stephanie White coaching Fever with a couple more good free agents while getting rid of Nalyssa Smith, I see Fever going all of the way to the championships and winning. Fever 2025 Champions we are watching form. There is one problem that can stop them. The crooked referees. They are bought and paid for so they will not only be battling other teams, they will be battling the corrupt referees.

I don’t know Penichero was pretty good, more flashy and showboatish whereas Caitlyn is more surgical. I know Penichero’s interior passing is better but Caitlyn’s full court vision and passing is otherworldly. But whatever she is the best in the W now hands down. I haven’t seen anyone close to her.

    • @mikem.s.1183
      @mikem.s.1183 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Ticha Penichero interior passing is as good as Caitlin's. Just watched famous highlights of Ticha to make sure I remembered correctly. They're equals. No possible doubt about it.
The one thing Caitlin doesn't want to do (even at Dowling) is the excessive flair (jumping forwards and passing backwards between the legs), which Ticha used to do to annoy the other team (also because she thought her crowd loved it).
Caitlin is the flawless, GOAT type player. Complete in every area. She doesn't excel at offensive rebounds because she doesn't play the position and she doesn't have the height for it.
      That said:
Ticha enjoyed the physicality of tough defenses. Tough players like her do not possess the finesse of someone like Caitlin, but they're extremely useful against teams of thugs (Sun, Sky, Aces).
If Caitlin gains a handful of kgs of pure muscle without sacrificing her speed, she'll become unstoppable.

Caitlin's 3s are legendary, but her passing is out of this world, we know at the beginning of the season Caitlin had a lot of turnovers, but that was due to the way her team not being ready for such passing, and coach Sides being fix on Aliyah Boston as the go to person, but once Sides realised that Caitlin was the person that made the game, things got better, if they had played like they did in the second half of the season, Caitlin would have been MVP with a assists record that noone would catch, plus they would have won at least six more games if coach Sides had just done her job correctly, but those passes that came on were just fantastic, can't wait until they are playing again.

On another note, Venom Reacts, one of my favorite CC reaction channels has been doing NBA reactions, and the difference between a Caitlin game and their style is notable. Fast in it's own way, but no comparison to her game. The passing is predictable and boring. And don't even get me started on dunking. Imo dunking is overrated, and if there's too much of it, it's boring. If there's passing it''s often just standing on the 3 point line and going back and forth to other players on the 3 point line. If there's an inbound pass (I think it's called) there's no flash or flare just a straight forward throw to another player while they're both running in the same direction. No flashy no look, behind the back action. No bounce passes through the legs of opposing players, it's all just plain white bread point to point action. In other words boring.

Choosing the video (Clicking on it, that's where the term "click bait" comes from). (A click is a lesser rated bit of the yt algorithm) so by just clicking on the video and liking it, even if that's all you do (not even viewing it in whole or in part) will give them points in the algorithm. But to really show support, the big 3 is like, comment, and view (start to finish) is worth the most points. If I want to show support for content even if I'm not interested, I set my other tablet to "watch" it on mute.
