@@TheSCPStudio Space gas - in this, the 8th movie of a series, (on top of Rogue One and the TV shows) is the first mention of anyone even having concern that they could run out of gas. It is objectively a weird time in the world building to be making a big deal about it. On top of the preposterous notion that the Resistance was going the Goldilocks speed to keep away from the First Order, it was a big pill to swallow. These are all straws, which one broke the camel's back is hard to say. Here are some more. The movie opened with cringe dialogue between Poe and Hux (it felt like they were heavily trying to push some Iron Man banter into Star Wars, and it didn't work), and included a bombing run scene with the most perplexingly designed space bombers in Star Wars. (the ones that drop bombs down even though there is no gravity in space) Y-Wing bombers had existed for decades. Don't forget Leia's post death (I saw post death because everyone else in the room exploded, we call this plot armor) space leap back onto the ship, only to be in a coma for most of the rest of the movie and doing nothing to add to the plot. (Truly a missed opportunity for Leia's exit from the series as Carrie tragically died) Star Wars is a work of science fiction, with a literal magic Force. It is not a parallel to our universe. What are you on? If you don't like Star Wars or Luke Skywalker that's fine, but don't act like this movie was made for fans of Star Wars. I did lol at "personal complaints" though, that was pretty good 😂 I do want to point out that you used the word "fits" twice, which is what gave away that you've probably never seen a Star Wars movie, maybe work on that for next time you're trying to troll fans.
Let me explain, if you will. Dude, I absolutely love your pitch meetings, I've been watching for years. Sometimes you make me laugh so hard I start crying. Keep up the good work, Ryan! 😅
What was the most painful thing you had to watch for Pitch Meeting and how many times did you force yourself to watch it? I'm guessing Star wars holiday special
This video solidified my love for Pitch Meetings, but also the insanely accurate assessment of this movie! I show it to everyone who speaks to me about Star Wars.
This is the first pitch meeting I ever remember watching, and I laughed so hard I have nostalgically returned to it many times😂 I have never missed a pitch meeting since!!!
Ryan, I used to work at Screen Rant way back when. And I’ve loved your pitch meetings for so long. My question is: Do you ever watch movies for the fun of it? Are you able to? Or is your film critic brain always on? I feel like now that I’ve watched your Pitch Meetings for so long, I’ve started to think about what you’d say as I’m watching films.
I'd want to jump in here, hope you don't mind. As someone with experience with this, when my film critic brain is working at full capacity I am able to enjoy movies so much more. So I guess I'm asking: "Does that critical part of your brain make movies less enjoyable? Or, like me, do you actually enjoy (good) films more because you kind of see the pieces of the actual film making process and enjoy them so much?
my 2 cents are: I used to binge EWW, Pitch Meeting, HISHE, Honesttrailers etc. and for a time it did ruin movies for me, even more so if I was watching them with company, because I looked for errors etc all the time and even pointed them out. can imagine some critics having the same issue
I remember he's answered this question before but not on his own channel I don't think, it's with an interview with a couple on a TH-cam channel but I don't remember the channel or the video name. He might've also mentioned it in the first pitch meeting revisited question portion I think. But to summarize, he did say it's very hard because he kind of has to look for plot holes since it's his job and he can't see past them but he doesn't hate watching movies (iirc)
I love these revisited videos and the additional contents you provided especially your thoughts on your own creations and creative processes. No questions here just want to let you know that I enjoy your work. Keep it up Ryan
Hi Ryan, your speech at the end, those are your own words aren't they? How amazing it is that such beauty, and truth, nearly hidden beneath your persona, can yet still be so powerful. I wish that I'd heard your words while you were real. They are beautiful.
Hi Ryan. This is a brilliant concept. The only bad part is if the movies ever start to get better, that's good for us, but bad for you. Looking forward to the next 20 years of Pitch Meetings.
Ryan, thank you for this gift that is Pitch Meeting. How do you combat creative fatigue? I can only imagine how much fun it would be to hear your pitch (& other) ideas.
I love when Ryan gets to just act out the actual pitch for a movie. Question: As a creative, do you ever look back at your older work with regret, or with just an appreciation for how you've grown over the years?
I like these revisits, it gives us a bit of BTS info. Glad for YOU, that your Pitch Meeting videos are continuing to do well. Glad for ME that they’re still enjoyable. I’m sure it’s not easy to keep things interesting, and you’re doing well at that.
He missed a huge opportunity by not talking about using lightspeed as a weapon destroying the entire fleet and breaking any semblance of lore or reason. Made no sense at all that after a hundred years or more of having light speed, suddenly now after all this time someone thinks to use it as a weapon? WTF?
@@Thickcurves you're right. I wonder if he had something for that and decided to cut it, or if he just never wrote a bit for that. Seems like a good opportunity for a "whoops! - whoopsie!"
@@ebreshea1337it was there because as a terrible writer he didn't see a way out of that situation (because he himself established lightspeed tracking) so he invented a move that would save them and look cool on screen. Problem is, that even if that move is possible, Holdo could've lived by making a droid do the move or have the ship do it autonomously. It's just a disaster of storytelling to manufacture emotions from those not laying attention (it did look very cool though, that's all I'll give him).
Can you revisit the prequel trilogy please? Pitch meetings for episodes 1 and 2 of star wars are one of your best in my opinion. Especially with the jokes. And pherhaps one of the most rewatchable. I always keep coming back to those.
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for doing these revisits. They're loads of fun. If you could ever re-do a pitch meeting for a film you've already covered, what would you choose?
Ryan - maybe you didn't care for the Pitch Meetings on individual actors, but the ones on entertainment news, like Spiderman leaving the MCU, were gold! I can't believe you haven't done a Pitch Meeting on the writers' strike that's going on now (or maybe you're waiting until after it resolves).
Question; would you ever do a pitch meeting for a lesser known or older film? (Something abit random like Waking Life or A Scanner Darkly) Or is keeping up with stuff that's more recent & more talked about films/shows easier?
Meant this more of a question about writing, & if older/lesser known films are maybe more risky for algorithm, or difficult just cos there's less awareness in modern media. Didn't want to be too leading with it.
As a Star Wars fan, I was deeply disapointed about The Last Jedi. This movie, in my opinion feels like an adult toying with characters improvising in the Star Wars Universe and ended up being what it is... But starting today, I will be more thankful to this movie, if that movie was different and became a masterpiece, we might never have all those Pitch Meetings today. Thanks to all of the Ryans for all of your dedicated work!
The Last Jedi: the movie that made me embarrassed to be a Star Wars fan, in font of my nephews. Thanks Rian Johnson, for the mean-spirited pie in the face to all devoted Star Wars fans. You sure showed us! Or, er, subverted our expectations.
Here's a question for a future "Revisited" episode: Have you ever thought about having Brandon and/ or Sam cameo on an episode of Pitch Meeting? I love your MMS stuff and I feel like if you picked the right movie it could be hilarious. I love the show and hope the best for you!
Really cool to see how you have grown your two characters to be more of a caricature of this industry ( which is probably quite accurate;)…. I enjoy seeing how they’ve evolved along side your writing . Me like. Thanks for the excellent entertainment!
Mine too. The truth is that film is so dire the Pitch Meeting could have been twice as long and still not encompassed all the absurdities. The 'momma' joke at the beginning? Poe disobeying orders and getting thousands of his fellow Resistance members killed? And the only getting a slap on the wrist? Rey being able to swim despite spending her whole life on a desert world? Luke, the man who redeemed his evil father, attempting to murder his nephew because of a vision? The slow motion space chase that could have been ended in minutes if only the First Order, who were not short of fuel, sent some of their ships to light speed and then returned in front of and around the Resistance ships? The ease with which Finn and Rose managed to slip away to Canto Bight but nobody thought to evacuate others in this way? The grand Resistance plan to just try and hold on long enough to reach an old abandoned Rebel Alliance base in the hope their might be a transmitter to use to call for help? Surely Finn and Rose could have done that on their way to Canto Bight? The 'Holdo manoeuver' and the fact that nobody had ever thought to try it against the Death Star instead of relying on a strategy of making a "one in a million" shot by firing a torpedo down an exhaust port less than 2 metres wide? Luke being able to project himself hundreds of light years across space. The fact the whole premise of the first film was the two sides trying to find the map to locate Luke, half of which was stored in R2-D2, but when he was found he said he'd gone to hide away and die - so why leave the map behind in the first place?! It must have been hard for Ryan to choose which of so many failings to lampoon.
Has there ever been a film that you tried to make a pitch for that you never figured out? Also it’s great to see that somebody is finally putting the Peters of the world in their place

Every attempt he made at rebuilding failed. Ofc he would be a jaded hermit. Especially given how the First Order was still going strong and Luke was getting old.
I don’t know man, most of this seems like personal complaints from you. Which is fine, of course, but take responsibility for having absolutely no brain in that head.

Space gas - in this, the 8th movie of a series, (on top of Rogue One and the TV shows) is the first mention of anyone even having concern that they could run out of gas.
(Truly a missed opportunity for Leia's exit from the series as Carrie tragically died)
Star Wars is a work of science fiction, with a literal magic Force. It is not a parallel to our universe. What are you on?
If you don't like Star Wars or Luke Skywalker that's fine, but don't act like this movie was made for fans of Star Wars. I did lol at "personal complaints" though, that was pretty good 😂
I do want to point out that you used the word "fits" twice, which is what gave away that you've probably never seen a Star Wars movie, maybe work on that for next time you're trying to troll fans.
He did the entire Twilight saga...
Im gonna guess Cats
My money is on "She-Hulk Attorney at Law." No human being walks away from that series unscathed.
@@kingtickeler He had to watch Velma...
As someone mentioned above, Cats has to be at the top of this list. Horrendous to watch.
This was the first pitch meeting I ever saw, been watching ever since. Thanks for all of the laughs Ryan
How is this not fun?
I remember he's answered this question before but not on his own channel I don't think, it's with an interview with a couple on a TH-cam channel but I don't remember the channel or the video name. He might've also mentioned it in the first pitch meeting revisited question portion I think. But to summarize, he did say it's very hard because he kind of has to look for plot holes since it's his job and he can't see past them but he doesn't hate watching movies (iirc)
I mostly only do that if the film isn't very good. But samesies
I love these revisited videos and the additional contents you provided especially your thoughts on your own creations and creative processes. No questions here just want to let you know that I enjoy your work. Keep it up Ryan
This was the very first oitch meeting of them all for me. It looks like this really boosted the pitch meeting thing (back then at Screenrant).
Same here! Saw it on Facebook
Oitch meetings are tight
I'm going to need you to get all the way off my back about oitch meetings.
@Oppenheimer797 Oh look, It's death, destroyer of worlds
oitch
Hi Ryan, your speech at the end, those are your own words aren't they? How amazing it is that such beauty, and truth, nearly hidden beneath your persona, can yet still be so powerful. I wish that I'd heard your words while you were real. They are beautiful.
Hi Ryan. This is a brilliant concept. The only bad part is if the movies ever start to get better, that's good for us, but bad for you. Looking forward to the next 20 years of Pitch Meetings.
Fun fact: Porgs were partially made as CGI coverups due to puffins that were flying around in the shots on Luke’s island.
Seems like a waste of time to only partially make them.
Still wonder what they taste like.
@@L0ve1tRetr0 WHOOPS
Puffins are some of the cutest animals on earth honestly. They always seem like they're smiling
This puffin got some stuffin' for your puffin muffin. ~ ZeFrank.
Ryan, thank you for this gift that is Pitch Meeting. How do you combat creative fatigue? I can only imagine how much fun it would be to hear your pitch (& other) ideas.
From all that I expected from this Revisited Pitch Meeting I must say that everything in this video certainly subverted it. Bravo!
This was the pitch meeting that got me hooked, "a big alien sea cow with big boobs" and I thought "hey he's right, what idiot wrote this thing?!"
Watching Ryans content is super easy barely an inconvenience
SUPER EASY BARLEY AN INCONVENIENCE!1!!
Oh Really?
I'm so glad you are doing this one. This was actually the first pitch meeting I ever watched!
I'm glad you revisited this episode!! One of my favorites 😂😂
I love getting to see you break lately, it's a welcome addition
loving all these behind the scene thoughts and revisits!
they really need to hire Ryan to be an advisor for every movie that is ever written...
The tenant pitch meeting was hilarious😂easily my favourite aswell
The nose bleed at the end almost killed me
Can you revisit the prequel trilogy please? Pitch meetings for episodes 1 and 2 of star wars are one of your best in my opinion. Especially with the jokes. And pherhaps one of the most rewatchable. I always keep coming back to those.
The Star Wars sequel Pitch Meetings are the very best. Excellent work!!
your delivery and pacing has gotten so much better.
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for doing these revisits. They're loads of fun. If you could ever re-do a pitch meeting for a film you've already covered, what would you choose?
This was the first pitch meeting I saw, I've been a fan since. Nice work, Ryan.
No question. You're content is fantastic sir! Keep up the work! 🤟
Ryan - maybe you didn't care for the Pitch Meetings on individual actors, but the ones on entertainment news, like Spiderman leaving the MCU, were gold! I can't believe you haven't done a Pitch Meeting on the writers' strike that's going on now (or maybe you're waiting until after it resolves).
i love watching these because in the middle of the pitch meeting i forget that this is a re visit and get super happy when there is more in the end :D
I love these revisited videos, they're a trip down memory lane for me. One question I have is, are we ever going to get a Pitch Meeting for The Room?
We love these revisited episodes!
Meh
Who is we??
Yes let's bank in a little bit more on previous episodes again :D if you like them you can just rewatch them they exist online.
I just love pitcher ryan, and listening to his recap of past pitch meetings
it's like a new character different from producer ryan and writer ryan
@@The_Bad_Guy. We are Venom!
Question; would you ever do a pitch meeting for a lesser known or older film? (Something abit random like Waking Life or A Scanner Darkly) Or is keeping up with stuff that's more recent & more talked about films/shows easier?
Excalibur please. Lost Highway, Videodrome and Exorcist 3
Donnie Darko maybe? Please?
Meant this more of a question about writing, & if older/lesser known films are maybe more risky for algorithm, or difficult just cos there's less awareness in modern media. Didn't want to be too leading with it.
@mugendub the original point stands. We want pitch meetings for Excalibur, In The Mouth of Madness and Lawrence of Arabia. And Gandhi 😂
@@lordvadertheleftie9703 yeh fair
This was actually the first pitch meeting i watched and it's what made me fall in love with pitch meetings
Who greenlit that script? Rian Johnson can't make a huge movie without someone okaying it. Someone at the top thought it was a good idea.
Here's a question for a future "Revisited" episode:
Have you ever thought about having Brandon and/ or Sam cameo on an episode of Pitch Meeting? I love your MMS stuff and I feel like if you picked the right movie it could be hilarious.
I love the show and hope the best for you!
I sincerely appreciate you reminding me about how Disney gutted my entire childhood in one fell swoop
You've come a long way. Great job.
This is the first pitch meeting I ever watched. Been hooked since.
Really cool to see how you have grown your two characters to be more of a caricature of this industry ( which is probably quite accurate;)…. I enjoy seeing how they’ve evolved along side your writing . Me like. Thanks for the excellent entertainment!
One of my favorite pitch meetings ever! Love the Mary Poppins bit. 🤣
@@jjc5407 well said. And you barely scratched the surface.
Has there ever been a film that you tried to make a pitch for that you never figured out?
Also it’s great to see that somebody is finally putting the Peters of the world in their place
You're the best, Ryan! So funny. Please do a Tenet Pitch Meeting Revisited. I love that Pitch Meeting so much.
Love the behind the scenes. You're doing a great job. Keep it up and thanks for making some wonderfully funny content!
"This was just verbatim how that actual pitch went, so I didn't have to do much work on this one."
Acknowledging long running jokes from the comment section of your videos is tight!
I'll never be able to look at Snoke again without seeing that "Hefner in a gold bathrobe" correlation. Thanks for that.
Screen Junkies should have used that line for their Honest trailer for The Last Jedi. 😂
I'm amazed you could look at him before without seeing it
Really great content and you seem to be a nice guy!
I love the content! Always a fresh take on things about not only Star Wars.
Keep up the phenomenal work!
I have never seen this pitch, I gotta this this was one of best ones you have ever made.
I UNDERSTAND THE JOKE
Also, thanks for continuing the Pitch Meetings as long as you have. I'm sure you know how much joy you bring all of us!
Loving Pitch Meetings will always be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Hey Ryan, love these revisited videos, can’t wait to see more of them.
Question(s): do you have a favorite joke that you’ve made in any of the pitch meetings? Also, what is your all time favorite movie?
I had never seen that Pitch Meeting before, and it is so incredibly accurate 😂😂😂
"Last Jedi" is definitely amongst Ryan's best Year 1 Pitch Meetings.
WHOA, I watched this right after the Home Improvement sketch and you're wearing the same shirt as the guy whose home is STUCK IN THE 90s. Very cool that you two are friends and share clothing.
Hey Ryan! Always look forward to your pitch meetings!
Question: Is there ever material or jokes that you have to edit out after filming for sake of time? How often does that happen?
Question
Do you feel that because of pitch meetings it has stopped you from enjoying a movie without having to break it down?
Love these videos, please don’t stop
I need ambient noise to sleep, I used to leave Netflix playing but I've not started using the pitch meeting playlist. These retrospectives are so awesome! Ryan is such a legend!
Can't believe I'm not the only one.
It’s so good too find out there are others😊
Who would have thought that ANYTHING good came out of the new Star Wars garbage? But it was all worth it knowing we got all of these great Pitch Meetings that have to be the most CONSISTENTLY funny skits on youtube ever. Thanks Disney for destroying my childhood...and thank you too Ryan for kinda making the burning embers of my childhood worth something in the end...
The Last Jedi was the first pitch meeting I saw and was hooked ever since...!
"It's like the heroes journey only without the middle stuff" 😂
QUESTION: is there any movie/tv series you were hyped about and was a disappointment?? And have you done a Pitch Meeting about it?? Thank you for being the one creator that can lift my spirits during bouts of deep depression ❤️ I just put a playlist on and escape
U are gorgeous
Hey Ryan! Me and my mom love watching your pitch meetings together and I was wondering, how did the Barbenheimer pitch meeting come to be, was it easier or more difficult to squeeze 2 movies into 1 video? Keep up the great work, love all your videos!
Didn't you hear? It was super easy -- barely an inconvenience!
Hey Ryan! Really enjoying these insights into your process for Pitch Meetings.
My question is: Is there anything that you ever put in a Pitch Meeting that you later regretted, maybe for being a little too harsh or even just factually inaccurate. Thanks for all the great work!
No questions, just discovered your content and love it. Keep it up!
Hi ryan, loving these revisits
question: Will you ever be doing more pitch meetings for stuff like sitcoms like you did with friends and big bang theory? I'd love one for how i met your mother
Have you ever done a full pitch meeting (research, filming, post production) and been so disappointed with the result that you scrapped it?
