Fear? Run toward it. Danger? Run away from it. Fear is self-created. Danger is external (a polar bear, currents that could capsize your vessel, a pissed off wife). Happy New Year Erik. Your cinematography and editing are VERY PROFESSIONAL!!!
Hi Erik, it is Seán. Thanks so much for your kind acknowledgement, it was really nice to have you on board and for anyone reading this comment I can tell you that Erik is the exact same likeable character in person. I am commenting from my own channel which is just in its infancy but I have big dreams and now own a Contessa 32! Keep it going Erik, great vid as always.
Thanks Sean for getting Erik on board. Seeing gaff rigged schooners is always a pleasure. They were the workhorse of the Great lakes. And we have a deep appreciation when we see one in full sail. And I was hoping that Erik would take some video of her so imagine how surprised I was to see her at her best! Thanks again for an experience many were able to enjoy. Happy New Year Sean!
Hello from New Hampshire, USA. Chasing Latitudes mentioned you so I had to visit your channel. I look forward to learning from you. Fair winds, RAbecca
Your videos make me think about how trapped I am in routine, the freedom you experience facing the weather and the permanent sensation of the unexpected overwhelms me but excites me at the same time. Your channel is without a doubt one of my favorites and from the bottom of my heart I wish you a long life full of adventures, living as many of us would like to, blessings...
Another very fine episode Eric. I just hope all the work you put in to bring us your life on the open ocean doesn't rob you too much of the joy of what you yourself are experiencing, but thank you so much for inspiring me.
I love tour attitude Erik. There's nothing like feeling scared for your life and pushing through it and surviving. It makes you feel really alive. I'm 80 and crossed Bass Strait last winter in a day sailor, I was scared for days before I left. Could barely sleep before leaving.
Another great one Erik. Obviously, you know the conclusion to this series. As a viewer, I wait with baited breath for the next leg and your safe return home. Best of luck 👍
Excellent as always Erik. One of the few TH-cam video channels I watch from beginning to end, no fast forward or skipping!! Superb production again as always. May the force be with you!
Erik, I want to congratulate you on this outstanding video. My wife is not a youtube person but I am and i definitely had to share this video with her. All the best from Australia.
I watch several sailing channels and the ones I continue to watch are very good at what they do. Erik puts them all to shame. He is in a category all to his own. Erik is fearless but not foolish and his cinematography is as if he had a entire film crew with him.
At the age of 63, next July I will go to the Faroe Islands for the first time, because of your channel. I will fly there, and stay 7 nights. At 63, that's the most for me, but that's not the point. It's "the most", that's enough. Thanks !
Why should it be the most? Your 63. Young! I think, you have a wrong focus. How old are we all sailors around? If you love this sailing, start it for you. If you are already a sailor, and I think so, start your journeys now. Now you have the time for it. It must not be the Northern Atlantic. The Baltic sea is a good and interesting area. I wish you so much luck and fun.
Erik.. the pull for adventure and exploration runs deep in your soul. The challenge and risk has been great, but to finally achieve your goal of Greanland will be amazing. I am cheering you on just watching these episodes, hoping you finally make it to the finish line!! God speed my friend, and fair winds and following seas!!!
You need Locktite and seizing wire for your shackles - small cable ties /zip ties can be used instead of seizing wire if you have them to hand, but UV will eat them very quickly. I hope you checked the shackles at the top of the mast before pushing off for Greenland.
Thank you Erik! Your videos are amazing - I have subscribed and watched every one so far. Technical note: I have used a piece of strong wire through the end of the pin and around the shackle, twisting the wire ends together with pliers to prevent it unscrewing from the boom brake and mainsheet/traveler connections. Thread lock works on the pin threads when there is no "eye" in the pin to run a wire through. Happy sailing!
Loved this chapter of your journey to Husavik. Magnificent videography, stunning scenery, and I also enjoyed your day on the whale watching schooner. Looking forward to your next chapter!
Fear and doubts are what keep us sharp. Those with no fear or doubts are the most vulnerable from the moment they walk out their door or cast off from a dock 🔔🥃
This continues to be an excellent series. There’s something about the content, videography, and narration that makes everything very real. Looking forward to the conclusion !
Another great video! I am always impressed both by the fantastic voyage and the professional quality production! You could chain some of these videos together and release them as a feature film.
Eric, champion effort not only to sail solo in challenging waters but to master the monkey mind of such a passage and protect the boat, run the boat, sail the boat and cherish the boat, as she does you.
Has been only 3 months of waiting already. Another half hour episode of church, ruins and grass drone footage. I am out. Skipped this completely because I feel I am being milked here.
Thank you Erik for another great video. I can’t wait to watch you make it to Greenland. Please be careful and don’t slip and fall and hurt your back this time ;). We are cheering for you to make it. Best of luck and fair winds.
As always: Your videos are truly inspiring and motivating. Besides that I am always impressed by the beautiful images, the stunning drone-footage and the creative editing of your videos. After watching one of the episodes I always feel the urge to go sailing. Looking forward to make another trip with my father on the Baltic Sea someday
What a beautiful part of the world. I would love to see more of these little villages, ill probably never get there myself. Thank you for taking us along.
Skipper, your voyages have gripped my imagination for quite some time now. Your experience and skills are top notch. I’ll make one recommendation: replace any threaded shackle pins with clevis and cotter pins. From a structural perspective, threads are a weak point, not to mention a place for water to collect. Good luck, friend.
Hi Erik, I saw in this episode that the screw pins of two shackles fell out. When the screw pin of a shackle has a hole in the end, one can use a short piece of stainless steel safety wire and put it through the hole in the pin and then wind it around one leg of the "U" of the shackle and that will prevent the pin from turning out. Love your adventures
Why do you go the way you go ! Ive never met a Viking that is satisfied taking the easy ( safe ) way ! It's not the way of the Vikings ⛵️ ✌️❤️😎 Njord sails with you Brother !
Great video as always. Remember that a metal thread (screw) is based on elastic stretch - the tension stops it from opening. So really squeeze those last few turns when doing up a shackle. Hand-tightening, there is no chance you will strain the mental. I love the comment below defining fear & danger. Very wise. Fear is always about uncertainty - if you definitely know what will occur, there is no need for fear - just a requirement for calm resignation. Listen to your fears and verbalize them - once you understand the elements that you can't be sure of, you know where the danger lurks. Looking forward to the next leg. Look luck & fair winds.
“To go where most don’t”…although I am not a sailor, it resonates with me in my mini adventures when I travel to places where most don’t. Maybe a title for your future book😊
Hi Eric, I’ve been following your videos for years and you have inspired me to sail my own boat to Orkney, Fair Isle, Shetland, Norway and finally the Faroe Islands last year. My wife has just seen this latest video and is now asking when we are sailing to Iceland. Thanks !! 😉
Tack Erik, superfin video! Mycket tacksam för allt du gör! Those mainsail bearing carts are truly amazing, how the sail just falls down so easily. Happy new year and keep it up!
Mouse your shackles! Secure the shackle pins with wire or another method to ensure they stay in place. It's a practical safety measure. Your a lucky Viking that the pins worked their way out in calm weather
Amazing video. Great admirer of your adventures and sailing skills. Also, I second that confort food choice: I never have them on land but, when tired at sea, nothing on this planet beats bacon and eggs. On the subject of fear. I think its healthy to keep it around, but always under control with knowledge and experience. Robin Knox-Johnston said that sailors who claim never to experience fear, are lying. Really hope you made it to Greenland this time.
So how about fear. When should we listen to it?
Always listen to it for it is there with a reason. Then decide if you can ignore it or not. Thanks for another video Erik!
Never.
Conquer it.
Fear? Run toward it. Danger? Run away from it. Fear is self-created. Danger is external (a polar bear, currents that could capsize your vessel, a pissed off wife).
Happy New Year Erik. Your cinematography and editing are VERY PROFESSIONAL!!!
“So how about fear. When should we listen to that”, Exactly. I had that epifany during the covid period😉😏. Great video Eric, tabe and Sail on.

@beepseatsfindingfoodtreasu8756 They are beautiful boats in everyway
Good luck with your channel
Stunning boats .. had the pleasure of sailing out of Scrabster. If anyone sees the Flower of Caithness send her fair winds.
I'll follow and watch Sean. Its a dream to go to Iceland. Hi from New Zealand 🙂
Hello from New Hampshire, USA. Chasing Latitudes mentioned you so I had to visit your channel. I look forward to learning from you. Fair winds, RAbecca
Your filming, editing and writing just keeps getting better. Soooooo good! Thanks Erik! This was outstanding. Fair winds.
Fuckin A. This.
Thanks for sharing this great adventure
Great Vid. Editing, narrative, sailing, drone scenes, angst, humor, music..... the Lexus of the sailing channels. Thanks !🎉
Another very fine episode Eric. I just hope all the work you put in to bring us your life on the open ocean doesn't rob you too much of the joy of what you yourself are experiencing, but thank you so much for inspiring me.
I stressing at times, but I love what I do! Life has to be stressful to get to where you want👌
U are the best youtube single sailor on the net. And u have the absolute best sailing photos on the web also ❤❤❤❤
I love tour attitude Erik. There's nothing like feeling scared for your life and pushing through it and surviving. It makes you feel really alive. I'm 80 and crossed Bass Strait last winter in a day sailor, I was scared for days before I left. Could barely sleep before leaving.
John!
That is the fredom of a seaman it is the same to me, when i start sailing...

I'm so excited for part 6 of this Greenland Expedition! Keep going! You've got this!

Your videos are getting better and better every time, even when you think it is not possible, like more better.
Tank you so mush for sharing with us.
Thank you so much for taking us along on such an amazing adventure!!

I love what you do Eric. Your video presentations are fantastic. Fair winds on all your adventures.
My prayers are with you Erik. 🙏
Please, in heavy weather wear a harness and prepare central safety-line. Then you can do it all with safety.
This continues to be an excellent series. There’s something about the content, videography, and narration that makes everything very real. Looking forward to the conclusion !
Another great video! I am always impressed both by the fantastic voyage and the professional quality production! You could chain some of these videos together and release them as a feature film.
I can feel the excitement building. such compelling viewing.

No bullshit. Great film. Locktite for shackles. Thanks for sharing

Epic , man....your presence is awesome. Keep on sailing, and maybe you might find the edge...

It was a blessing to see some these sacred lands
You love the shock and awe! I admire that!
Again, another fine video! Thank you, Erik. Your adventures are way beyond what us other sailors ever have the opportunity to achieve or experience.
Hi Eric,
I’ve been following your videos for years and you have inspired me to sail my own boat to Orkney, Fair Isle, Shetland, Norway and finally the Faroe Islands last year.
My wife has just seen this latest video and is now asking when we are sailing to Iceland. Thanks !! 😉
That is so great to know! Bet you loved it. Go for Iceland!

Great again. I enjoy all your sailing! Regards from The Netherlands!
Husavik is so cool place I love going there, thanks for good episode and God Jul
Mouse those shackle pins but you know that. Fair winds and falling seas, you videos are by far the best on offshore sailing.❤️
Erik Aa., you are a sailing hero………. .
thank you for sharing footage of all the birds, they are so breathtaking beautiful, I can't imagine what it was like to see them in person.
Mouse your shackles!
Secure the shackle pins with wire or another method to ensure they stay in place. It's a practical safety measure.
Your a lucky Viking that the pins worked their way out in calm weather
Fantastiske filmer du produserer! Arti å følge!
Godt Nytt År!

Really hope you made it to Greenland this time.
Excellent photography once again. Thank you for posting.
Always great videos bud with no BS
I love following along on your videos. You and Tiger are quite the adventurers
Another amazing chapter! Can't wait for the next one.
This is like kindergarten class. This like watching paint dry. I have been watching this channel from the beginning!!
