I also have always liked Flash because he reminds me of Tsukune from rosario+vampire, both considered as useless and hated by most fans and also both shown to be very kind and a nice guy. Plus both Flash and Tsukune were called waifu stealers, Flash because pony Twilight formed a crush on him (but was most likely just human hormones kicking in), Tsukune because he literally had all of the most beautiful and most popular girls in the school in love with him, even to the point to which the girls even considered sharing him and all becoming his wives (Tsukune even had a guy trying to get with him).
The movie forgot that Sunset use to be a Unicorn. The Midnight in me song sounds like a mix of Hearts warming future and a James Bond song. I think that the gems are shards of the elements of harmony from when Nightmare Moon broke them and one shard from the portal which is why sunset's mind reading has the same animation as the book she used to calumniate with Equestira.
