Fun fact: Daniel Ingram submitted The Midnight in Me as a demo - he was planning on making the song 3 minutes long. The higher ups heard his demo and said that it was perfect. Kind of wish I could hear the longer version, but I feel as though this version gets the emotion across very well. The fact that my personal favorite MLP song was a demo says a lot about Ingram's talent. I heard this from the director commentary on the movie.
Twilight and Timber I think I'll be okay with in time, just gotta get used to the idea XD Sunset and Flash, I think I can see happening again, and with how they had the two interact in this movie, I'd be okay with seeing that happen. I really liked this movie. It ranks 2nd, I still like Rainbow Rocks best due to more humor and music, but this is still a great movie. I've yet to see anyone comment on this, but I noticed in the last scene that the moon was almost full. It makes me wonder if someone is going to use the portal from the Chrystal Empire. I do approve of TimberLight hehe. I am still waiting for an explanation on where the Human Sunset is since this Sunset is the pony version.

Yes awesome! I've been waiting for your reaction to this movie I love this movie, my second favorite movie; my first one being Rainbow Rocks of course. And I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Sunset is definitely my favorite character in the Equestria Girls movie universe, her character development through out the movies have been amazing! I actually ship Timber/Twilight, as odd as that may seem; it's kind of cute, and as long as it's not the pony version of Twilight getting together with a human, then I'm all for it! (I'm looking at you Flashlight!). And I don't even hate Flash Sentry like many people do, but at this point and time with the movies I'm just kind of like; oh alright fine, we're doing this again. But, this movie actually did give Flash a little bit of a character, which I appreciated; and the moments between Flash and Sunset were nice as well; even though I don't ship Flash/Sunset. Loved the music, some of my favorite music since Rainbow Rocks; love it! (Note when I'm talking about the music I mean set in the Equestria Girls universe; not just the show). I just don't see the Sunset character development. She was a flat "bad girl" in the original, then they flipped a switch without any psychological build-up (which literallly every other reformee apart from Luna had, even the minor antagonists) and she became a slightly less flat "good girl" whose only remaining notable character trait seems to be her appreciation and excitement for magic, and otherwise she's a completely generic protagonist. Personally, I think Sci-Twi is much more interesting.

I never really hated him I just can't stand that they haven't done nything to help make him more fleshed out because right now he's that character you drew on the page but you still can't figure out the story behind him.

I know the fandom doesn't really like him but with the subtle things they have been adding to him I can really see potential for a interesting character XD
Thats good I think the company sees these reactions to him more seriously than we realize so the writers sort of tried to put him behind the camera so to speak. I see him as a nice guy who like cadence hasn't been allowed to branch out of his character blueprint. He has traits to work with like when he played guitar in the first movie that's actually impressive and something they could expand on, or the fact the he and sunset did date once. There had to be something she liked about him so ya know there is work there.

This movie has both things that annoy me and things that i like. I agree with many people that this film is the more noticeable and better one next to Rainbow Rocks. But I think Rainbow Rocks is and was the best one. Mainly becasue they first off treated it like a full musical (insert high school musical joke here). In this film, there were some good songs, but not that many and nothing as epic or as impacting as rainbow Rocks. Rainbow Rocks also had fully defined villains. They were a considerable challenge, they were interesting, they were actual villains etc. and they forced the gang to actually change and or admit things about themselves to defeat them. Here, the villains are not really villains, it's just another person corrupted by magic for their own personal desires who then are saved... at least in Friendship Games, Sunset convinces Twilight to give up her power, while here they simply just overwhelm Gloriosa and "forgive" her right after. They even had the nerve to try and give a misdirection villain, why not have Timber be the villain? he pretty much tells twilight he is not as dedicated to the camp as his sister, he wants to experience the modern world, and given him and twilight's connection there could have been some interesting drama there. Second super powers... super powers... and the elemtn of harmony gemstones (which are meant and always were meant for the girls to find) this bugs the crap out of me, this is that pre-destiny bullshit that completely destroys the relatability and inspiration of people rising to an occasion rather than, everything you've done was predetermined so nothing you've done was your own thing.
Moonrise Howler Oh i appreciate it, i definitely don't hate the whole film in fact It's quite entertaining. the problem is they could have made this a bit better and or more focused. The key of any story is having a proper challenge in place, by having significant opponents, be they villains, nature, environment etc. They spend a lot of time promoting Gaia Everfree, they address Timber spruce and Glorisoa having differences. Personally i think it would have been better to have Timber the one using the rocks, to scare away campers, so he can sell the camp, only to have the actual Gaia everfree be there manipulating him to help unleash her instead. a bit more challenging opposition to the heroes, and could make a bit more drama especially given timber and twilight's relationship.
Moonrise Howler it's still very good, and the second best Equestira's girl movie out there. They did an amazing job with Twilight for example. They managed to take her arc in a unique and different direction from what they did with Sunset Shimmer in Rainbow Rocks, which was great to not have the same thing all over again. having twilight fear that she cannot control her inner demons, while Sunset was trying to show people she had overcome them. the powers are... interesting, i don;t mind them, i just wish it wasn't a whole "destiny" thing, but f they actually have to use them in the next film for more than just building stuff, that might be great. The songs are quite good, i definitely will get the soundtrack, but they could have had a few more, although I stand with Everfree and the "villain" song are actually quite well done.
I hope you realize that not every conflict stems from the idea of having tride and true villains. Not everyone even likes the black and white scenario of good guys against bad guys. Conflict in story comes from more than that and quite frankly the movie itself does just that aside from relying on a commom trope of strorytelling. The premise for Everfree is more of an event then some major magical and threatening force like Rainbow Rocks. It focuses more on the characters than it does on an overarching story about villains and heroes. The only reason anyone could fault that kind of storytelling is preference alone. Also, destiny isn't as black and white as you put it either. You may be "destined" to have something or just to be great but you still need to work towards it to fit into one's own destiny or decided role. Destiny has never really been truly guaranteed loke how mots people believe which is why many stories take that idea and apply the concept of being able to change destiny. The girls all learned to control their magic over time and honestly, most people had already considered them makeshift guardians for their world against dark and strange magical forces. This movie simply made it official and there's nothing wrong with that. The conflict was solid and no one was ever truly at fault for their behavior which is both more relatable and believable as opposed to the normality of good guys vs bad guys. Again, nothing wrong with that kind of story but there's also nothing wrong with this kind of story either. Plenty prefer that kind of story. Rainbow Rocks is more focused because its simple in its story. You can like that for what it is but Everfree wanted to do something else that was a little more intricate and pulled it off. Its a much better change if pace instead of having a megalomaniac bent on domination as the source of conflict

This movie has both things that annoy me and things that i like.
I agree with many people that this film is the more noticeable and better one next to Rainbow Rocks. But I think Rainbow Rocks is and was the best one.
Mainly becasue they first off treated it like a full musical (insert high school musical joke here). In this film, there were some good songs, but not that many and nothing as epic or as impacting as rainbow Rocks.
Rainbow Rocks also had fully defined villains. They were a considerable challenge, they were interesting, they were actual villains etc. and they forced the gang to actually change and or admit things about themselves to defeat them.
Here, the villains are not really villains, it's just another person corrupted by magic for their own personal desires who then are saved... at least in Friendship Games, Sunset convinces Twilight to give up her power, while here they simply just overwhelm Gloriosa and "forgive" her right after.
They even had the nerve to try and give a misdirection villain,
why not have Timber be the villain? he pretty much tells twilight he is not as dedicated to the camp as his sister, he wants to experience the modern world, and given him and twilight's connection there could have been some interesting drama there.
Second super powers... super powers... and the elemtn of harmony gemstones (which are meant and always were meant for the girls to find)
this bugs the crap out of me, this is that pre-destiny bullshit that completely destroys the relatability and inspiration of people rising to an occasion rather than, everything you've done was predetermined so nothing you've done was your own thing.
They've spent over one year working on this movie... They worked countless days and all they get is hate... I feel so bad for them :(

Oh i appreciate it, i definitely don't hate the whole film in fact It's quite entertaining.
the problem is they could have made this a bit better and or more focused.
The key of any story is having a proper challenge in place, by having significant opponents, be they villains, nature, environment etc.
They spend a lot of time promoting Gaia Everfree, they address Timber spruce and Glorisoa having differences.
Personally i think it would have been better to have Timber the one using the rocks, to scare away campers, so he can sell the camp, only to have the actual Gaia everfree be there manipulating him to help unleash her instead.
a bit more challenging opposition to the heroes, and could make a bit more drama especially given timber and twilight's relationship.

it's still very good, and the second best Equestira's girl movie out there.
They did an amazing job with Twilight for example. They managed to take her arc in a unique and different direction from what they did with Sunset Shimmer in Rainbow Rocks, which was great to not have the same thing all over again. having twilight fear that she cannot control her inner demons, while Sunset was trying to show people she had overcome them.
the powers are... interesting, i don;t mind them, i just wish it wasn't a whole "destiny" thing, but f they actually have to use them in the next film for more than just building stuff, that might be great.
The songs are quite good, i definitely will get the soundtrack, but they could have had a few more, although I stand with Everfree and the "villain" song are actually quite well done.
I hope you realize that not every conflict stems from the idea of having tride and true villains. Not everyone even likes the black and white scenario of good guys against bad guys. Conflict in story comes from more than that and quite frankly the movie itself does just that aside from relying on a commom trope of strorytelling. The premise for Everfree is more of an event then some major magical and threatening force like Rainbow Rocks. It focuses more on the characters than it does on an overarching story about villains and heroes. The only reason anyone could fault that kind of storytelling is preference alone.
Also, destiny isn't as black and white as you put it either. You may be "destined" to have something or just to be great but you still need to work towards it to fit into one's own destiny or decided role. Destiny has never really been truly guaranteed loke how mots people believe which is why many stories take that idea and apply the concept of being able to change destiny. The girls all learned to control their magic over time and honestly, most people had already considered them makeshift guardians for their world against dark and strange magical forces. This movie simply made it official and there's nothing wrong with that. The conflict was solid and no one was ever truly at fault for their behavior which is both more relatable and believable as opposed to the normality of good guys vs bad guys.
Again, nothing wrong with that kind of story but there's also nothing wrong with this kind of story either. Plenty prefer that kind of story. Rainbow Rocks is more focused because its simple in its story. You can like that for what it is but Everfree wanted to do something else that was a little more intricate and pulled it off. Its a much better change if pace instead of having a megalomaniac bent on domination as the source of conflict
