Hi peter just purchased our first ducato dingy 2002 plate. Thanks so much for your input on the engine seals that help stop the rust i.e. water ingress into engine compartment very very informative thanks again kevin
Hi Graham. Not keeping to bad but fed up with the weather. First two days it’s been nice but still cold and yet still not made it to 19c here. Roll on spring😳
I used the same rubber seal and method to stop water getting to the inner wings on my herald squires (1998 ford transit base)I scholtzed every bit of the underneath aswell .great video
Hi Steve. Scuttle on the Ducato is such a bad design and if you have the screen replaced the seal gets even worse and water cascades into the engine compartment like a waterfall.😞
That’s good stuff but the old trick of engine oil mixed 60/40 with white spirit works very well and costs next to nothing. In the good old days🤪when engines splatted oil everywhere underneath an engine you never found any rust locally in the direct vicinity of the engine.and a rusty holed sump was unheard of. The mind boggles… Just saying🤔
Excellent video! Used this video to help combat rust in the bonnet and a better drainage system for water off the windscreen on my mobilvetta top driver 52. Unfortunately I've been having problems with indicators working intermittently. Have you had this problem? I know the relays are under the fuse box (behind the dash) but have not got a clue which is the relay for the indicators. If you could provide any help it would be much appreciated
Hi there. As your indicators are working (of sorts) firstly check all the bulbs are working by turning on the hazards. - if any bulb has gone it affects the way the relay works. If all the bulbs are working the next step I would take is to off the + lead from the battery (for safety) then remove fuse carriers complete with fuses untouched then remove the lower dashboard cover (which is only 3 screws from memory) This will expose the fuses and relays. Make sure nothing metal is touching any of the fuse base feeds then connect the battery and turn on your indicators - you can now hear and feel which relay powers the indicators as the click is quite loud. Change the relay and you should be done. Hope this helps. Regards Peter
Hello Peter, please can you tell us where you get that adhesive rubber seal please? The one you used on the windscreen seal and the one you used back to back on the lip inside
Hi there. The adhesive rubber seal was obtained via AliExpress and it was a trawl through to find it but it’s there. The the one that fits onto the lip I got from a car breakers which was pulled off of a back door hatch car. Regards Peter
Hi Phil. Cant put link or photo on here for some reason😳 go to Alibaber and type in adheasive rubber strip for car windscreens and they will come up. - you want the 19mm wide x 2m size. Hope this helps you. For interest the adhesive used has been very stable and not peeled off in all the hot weather during summer. Regards Peter
As a pointer if it’s a diesel check that the immobilisation light goes out on the dash - if that goes out the check that the glo-plugs are getting 12v - the glo-plug light should also go out signifying that the relay is working. Other than that you will need someone local to have a look. Sorry I can’t help further. Regards .Peter
Hi all water serous problems with fiat docato water running down pipe onto top of gear box hence water getting into gear box. I have now extended the pipe to run out under the van .all the water off the roof goes down onto screen then down pipe on to top of gear box .very bad design by fiat. My advice is if you have one of these is extended pipe even put cover over top of gear box to stop any water damage allso change your gear box oil as a precautions ,if this is happening to mine then it is a high probability that this is happening to yours .this won't cost you anything to do but could cost you dearly if you don't. Hope this has been some help . 😊😊😊 happy camping 😊😊😊😊willemog.
@@brucepeter2007hi on the 2002 model there is a fuel safety cut switch out by the battery box make sure that the plug has not come apart this stop your pump working hence won't start hope this will be of some help willemog. 😊😊😊

Good to see you Peter hope you are keeping well

I have an 88 ducato, but this is great transferable advice. Thanks
Hi Branch. Glad you found it interesting. Beware of windscreen change. The fitters never reseal the screen properly - and the rust begins…🤔

Great video. My Ducato has just been welded on both inners, what a carry on. I'll take a look at mine and see what I can come up with. Cheers 👍

Great ideas I have same van not much rust on it. I used lanogard seems good 👍

@@brucepeter2007 Thank you for the advice! The bulbs are fine so I will check the relays as soon as it stops raining. Thanks again Peter
