      Can I charge the battery from the same points as you jumped started from?

    • @LiveforTravel
      @LiveforTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume they are connected directly. When attaching a trickle charger the earth shouldn’t be fitted directly to the battery on any vehicle. If your charger has a meter it should confirm if it is charging.

      No probs, praise where it's due. I knew where the points were, but the video explains it very well.

    That was brilliant, I've worked on cars for 50 years, (not a mechanic) sometimes I have to jump a vehicle and I'm stumped where to look, it always used to be the positive battery terminal and earth to body, these days batteries are hidden all over the vehicle so you really have to look for jumping points, I've not had a jump a Ducato/Promaster yet but now I'm ready.

    • @LiveforTravel
      @LiveforTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely correct. If I was using cables on a car then the earth (on the vehicle that needs to be started) would be connected to the body. Thanks for watching and your comment.

    Thanks for the video. At the end, you noted with a jump pack you only need to attach the positive leads. Is the process the same if you use a Noco Boost unit rather than a donor vehicle?

    • @LiveforTravel
      @LiveforTravel  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks. We use a trickle charger on our cars and we attach the earth to somewhere on the vehicle itself as per the instructions for the charger. The only point I know is that they never recommend putting both positive and negative cables direct to the battery.

    I came here because I had a dead battery on my camping car on Fiat Ducato 2013. But when I lifted the hood at the spot where you have the earth point at 0:58 I just have a hole. So I jump started the battery itself. Is there another point where I could clamp the negative cable under the hood? Thanks a lot for your videos. They are very clear and well done and I learn a lot.

      Most clean metal surfaces are usually fine for an Earth. Thanks for your support.

    My portable jump starter can't fully reach the earth point bolt. Can it also be connected to the plate instead or does it need to be connected to the bolt only?

      Any good metal should serve well as an Earth.

    I have an air compressor to pump up tyres on my Ducato campervan, and instructions say don’t use the cigar lighter socket if it is under 15v, and to connect to these battery terminals instead. I hope the + and the - are close enough together to clip my extension- and I wonder if the + needs connecting first, then the - clip?

    • @LiveforTravel
      @LiveforTravel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You should be able to use any earth point.

    Brilliant, thanks. I got as far as "lift flap A" in the manual. But of course it gives you no idea how to do that once you've found flap A.

    My 2015 Ducato was jump started with a non overcharge protected starter pack, which spiking at over 14 volts fried the airbag ECU. This is quite common & the firm Crashdata must make a lot of money from re-programming & replacing jump started air bag ECU's 😢 I know it was an over 14 volts spike from the crashdata data sheet they sent. In my case the airbag ECU was partially shot, I managed to get the airbag light reset for a few months with my code reader, then the light stayed on & the unit was totally shot. I was very lucky to be able to get a rare (in 2021) new replacement module from Crashdata after waiting a few months. There is supposedly a real shortage of these ECU's in the spring (lots of ECU subtypes as well, this is not one standard fit all part) when stored motorhomes are jump started with a too high voltage pack.
    If a new ECU is not available the alternative you have is to go scrabbling about on Ebay for a second hand one, with the right model number & hope that has not been spiked.
    Lots to bear in mind then... before you put those jump leads on 😂

      I hadn’t heard of that but will start finding more info. Never had any issues when using jump leads (rather than jump packs).

    The earth is the pin. Not the bracket it is mounted on.
    Question.... What size are the wheel nuts....and torque setting??

    • @LiveforTravel
      @LiveforTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The arrow and my finger point to the pin which is the earth point. I do not know the wheel nut size or torque setting. Welcome any answers in the comments to those questions.

      The location is there for that. Interested to hear what you suggest to do in the event of a flat battery.
      I will contact Fiat Technical in Italy and ask as they were very helpful giving me support for the Adblue video.
