    Just a tip, you should never hammer out a bare bolt end with a sledge like that, that’s how you can damage threads. Putting the nut back on a turn or two will help prevent that and give the hammer a larger surface to impact and drive bolt out. 🤙🏼

    Is the Fox spring that you used compatible with the DNM shock? Great video!

    • @mitchmonroe2983
      @mitchmonroe2983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stock DNM is slightly larger diameter, so fox spring on dnm might a tight squeeze

    I don't think an air shock is a good match for this bike. There's too much unsprung weight on the rear swingarm and wheel to deal with and air shock will fade and overheat. Even a MTB coil shock is on the light duty side.

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coil is certainly the more ideal option. We had to test both though of course.

    Another great video guys. Having done this mod 6 months. ago I always cringe when I think about all the rusty link bearings out there. Couple thoughts;
    The stock spring will fit fine for lighter riders. I used the 550lb from Luna and it's perfect for my 180lbs. and aggressive riding.
    I run a 21/16 wheelset with the 1 1/2" rise link and get a 24 degree rake that I like for tight twisty races. On more open high speed courses like GP's I use the 3/4" rise link and get 28 degrees for more stability. I suspect that with your 21/18 wheelset the high rise link has you around 19 degrees rake which is typical for a trials bike. Might want to order the 3/4" rise as well.
    Once you add a high rise link your mud flap is too short to fit. I cut off the rear fender deal leaving 1 1/2" as a tab which I reshaped as a new mud flap mount with a heat gun and pliers, drilled and mounted. Works great and I still have the lower part of the fender to keep mud off the rear of the motor.
    Hope this helps. I've done a dozen mods no one else is doing and just wanted to share a few. Love you guys!

      I was going to go to a 19/16” set. How do you like the 21/16 over say a 19/16?

    • @stevearrowood7430
      @stevearrowood7430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thefirm13 I liked the 19/16 and rode it for a month while we were waiting for the 21" Excel Takasago rim to come in (they were unavailable for awhile). Railed berms much better than stock but the 21" just rolls over obstacles so much easier that I don't mind the extra weight up front.

    • @stevearrowood7430
      @stevearrowood7430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thefirm13 I should mention that while the Surron can turn the 16" much easier, since I went with burly rims and tires, it slows the bike down due to the extra weight. I added the Emoto Bros controller kit to get back the stock speed and then some. BONUS: With the 16" rim the stock 48t sprocket delivers 54t performance on the stock 19" rim and Luna has 48t sprockets on sale for $5 so I grabbed a spare for next season!

    Attach the outer triangle bolt last, folks - will make your life easier. That way you can more easily access the lower shock mount and run the bolt in the OEM orientation (left to right).

    The spring recommendation does not make sense. If your shock has 3.5" of travel then you need that much or more in the spring. When adding any amount of preload it will remove travel from the spring. I went with the 450 lb/in X 3.65 Travel. It has a TLG of 8.1 and required just a bit of compression. I suspect you will not get full travel from your shock before the spring bottoms out on its self. On the fox site the fit chart data contradicts the spring chart data.

    What are the specs or part number for the Rear Suspension Bushings? Your description says M8x23.88. Do you mean Aluminum 803-03-169, 8mmx23.88? Also, if I'm 175lbs could I go heavier on the spring? e.g. 039-09-005

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s the 8mmx23.88mm. Material doesn’t really matter so that’s up to you. At 175 the 500Lb spring should be just fine🤘🏽

    I'm also using a 21-inch wheel and I'm trying to install DHx2, so I don't mind using a genuine link, right?
    As you told me, bushing is 8 millimeters 23 by 88.
    I bought it on the site of bike24 and there is no ring that you wear at the end of the picture. What should I do?

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know what you mean by genuine link. Also, I would recommend buying a bushing kit that contains all the necessary parts. If you fail to do so the shock could move off center and side load the internals of the shock which could cause damage. If you ordered off the site we linked, and they did not provide all the correct parts, I would contact customer service so they can send you another one.
