    Nice 5-ton - great sound! Amazing how the NHC250 sounds without the howling fan on the M809!

    I have one of these too, It’s a 1985. I love the dam thing so much. If I have a Girlfriend who wants me to sell it I’m breaking up with her.

      R4ZOR ! My girlfriend has been fairly supportive of it so far. She doesn’t like when we take it to the store for shopping though and she doesn’t like the lack of A/C. It’s a cheaper hobby than going to the bar at least...

      @@zacharysandberg there are kits to add A/C in the multi fuel deuces. There may be one to add it to the 5tons. It might be something to look into.

    You should take that rig on Trooper Tyree's October 2022 Great Smoky Mountains Convoy. See HISTORY in MOTION magazine 'Events' listing of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

    What a beast! What year is this rig? I assume Cummins NHC250 and Allison MT654CR, right? Can you please do a long 1-2 hour driving video on this truck with just pure engine/exhaust sound? Please begin the video with engine startup. I want to hear more of your awesome M923! Please let me know ASAP.

    • @zacharysandberg
      @zacharysandberg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GarbageSean Thanks, and you’re right it is an NHC250, model year 1984. I’ll drive it to work within the next week or two and record the sound.

      The original M939 series and M923A1's-M945A1's all used the Cummins NHC-250's just like the previous M812's-M820's.The A2's came with Cummins 6CT's which are heavier verisons of the 6BT's.

      I guess some folks get off on exhaust noise. 90% of all veterans suffer from hearing loss as a disability. Exhaust noise is overrated.

      The G177's were actually in usage on the original M939 series during 1982-1984.The later M923A1's-M945A1's were debuted with the 48/1400×20's during 1984-1987.Finally,the A2's came out and had CTIS during 1987-1994 while still using the same sized Super Singles.The main difference between the A1's & A2's besides the engines and wheel guards inside the rims is the tread patterns on the tires.

      The M939 Series trucks were delivered with 11.00-20 NDCC tires, same as the M809 Series. Various commands received permissions from TACOM to run an approved alternate tire.
