Deer snorting / blowing, stomping, and tail up to signal danger

- R’nA info for hunters that are just starting out. When a deer does this, it ISN'T a good thing. It means they most likely winded you or saw somthing they didn't like. Most times they don't stick around after the first blow. This doe saw a coyote at the top of the field and was warning all the deer around. Watch as she leaves she puts her tail up. That is another warning sign to deer.
That sound’s actually pretty haunting coming from a deer.

I just had it happen. Son in law was hog hunting. Think it scared him. Thought it was an owl. Not!

First time i heard this, i was sleeping outside in a hammock for the first time, scared the jeepers out of me.
First time archery hunter. Heard this sound my first two times going out and got really excited. Stumbled on this video and now I’m sad.
It sounds like a bird or a fox, kind of. I never knew does would sound like this

A month or so ago I went outside with my dog at night and I went out to the backyard so I could see the stars clearer and I heard this big fucking huff a good few feet away and by then the light hasn’t turned on so I was in pitch black without my contacts. I slipped and fell and woke the neighbours dog a little ways away and scared my dogs😭
is this deer a male or female?

Hahaa yeah when it's super close to you it's really loud too! And somehow doesn't sound like it should be coming from a deer. (I have does that graze in a meadow behind my house. Whenever new ones come around they get all pissy around my little 4 lb Chihuahua and start stomping and making this noise )

I never leave home to hunt without a snort call around my neck. Can't tell you how valuable it is when you're stumling to your stand in the dark and you hear this (two snorts with a pause in between, they just know something is there, NOT what it is) and you snort back and just wait for the sun to pop up to draw your bow
This sound actually makes my blood pressure go up. Nothing more infuriating than spending hours in a stand only to get busted by a doe.

@@MountainFolktaleslast year, i sat in a spot the apparently was like a central hub for them. And they were blowing all around me. I was pissed. But my own fault for not preparing
@@adambelka6383 my issue was I have hunted that spot before and was perfectly fine. This time I guess the doe just had super senses.
I went out for the first time in 6 years today. I was on the ground and heard one blow about 50 years away. I hit the doe call twice. Had it within 25 but couldn't see it through all the foliage and it took off. Yeah definitely a let down but I'll be back out next weekend and have a stand up.

Saw a deer about 10-15 ft away from me this morning at like 6 in the morning while I was swinging, now I realize she probably was about to beat me up if she didn't run away. I've seen her before too but this was the first time she actually stomped and made this sound. Pretty cool regardless, didn't even know they made sounds at all!

Not once have I heard this. And I don’t think I am a good hunter for whitetail deer.

I hear them all night long in the summer when I'm trying to sleep with windows open. Kind of annoying when they sound like they are right under the window.
Believe it or not, I had one blowing at me on Saturday morning. Right when I was getting to my stand. I stood at the base of the stand and thought I should just go home. Decided to see what happens. Not 10 minutes later, a buck walked right in front of me. 20 yards away
seeing the people in the comments respond reminds me of how a predator in the wild would likely respond to getting caught as well 😅 this comment section is full of wolves lol

Lol, when hunting I have heard that at LEAST 50 years from time to time. I suspected it was a deer blowing or snorting or whatever but never saw it for sure! Thanks for posting!! liked and subscribed of course.

5 in the morning on the ground waiting till shooting time, heard this whizz and scared me shitless lmao it was game over as soon as you heard it
Put my tree saddle next to a steep ridge with the wind in my face in hopes nothing would be able to get behind me and wind me. Had tons of does and spikes pass under me with no clue I was there, my target buck was about 60 yards into the opposing tree line not presenting a good bow shot. Next thing I know there's a splotchy looking spike who decided to climb the ridge barking at me. He sat there for about 5 minutes, I had to use a lot of restraint to not put him down out of frustration. He scared off my target buck.
Hear this while up at a cabin working(decorate the insides in the Smokey’s and Rocky’s) at 1 am after a stray dog came at me

One afternoon I got all suited up got my gun and was walking through the barn to the trail that lead to my tree stand. Gun slung over my shoulder not loaded. I had to walk around a tractor at the end of the barn and out to the trail. I heard something and froze. Waited 2 minutes and was about to unsling and load 1 round and that’s what I heard, then it sounded like a bunch of elephants running away. 🤦♂️. I said eff it and went and sat in the tree stand for 2 hrs playing solitaire on my phone. 🦌 hunting when there’s definitely no deer.
9/10 times when I hear that noise my hunt is actually ruined
we had this happen to us yesterday at 10yards while bow hunting coues. i thought it was a crow until we noticed the snot flying while she was making this sound.

But you haven’t been in the woods too much every experience deer hunter with a lot of hunts, have heard this noise more than once!
Saw a buck making a similar noise this morning at 2 does. I didn't know what the hell was happening!
Most likely a snort wheeze. Was there another buck around?
@@RunnArrow I don't think there was another buck. But the night before last a doe busted me in my stand and made this same noise. Sounds like a demon bird! It was pissed! Pawing at the ground, yelling at me, and shacking it's head

Just had this happen. I saw the guy deer (i think) right next to my house. He’s hanging around the area for like an hour or more making those snorts. Can you tell me why this a sign of danger? I’m too knowledgeable on deer. Thanks

@@mohammedchang It is a universal sign for danger for whitetail deer. They will do this to signal to other deer watch out basically.

If she blows she goes. Here where I am at I can take 10 antlerless deer. I havent had this type of blow yet. Normally they stay pretty quiet around here. Had I run into naggy baggy miss blow here she would have taken a 308 square in the chest I ain't got time for that whole damn thing.

@@131rocketman I got blown alot this summer while out scouting. I noticed if they didn't see you they tend to come back through that same area later. One came back and walked right by me as I sat against a tree. She was 15-20 feet away didnt even stop just calmly walked on by.
Had a doe blow at me today and I had a perfect shot on her. My hunting club don’t allow shooting doe though
A shot a buck a month back and a hour later a doe comes out and blows at him telling him to get up.
