I'm 70, from a musical family over several generations, and can honestly say that AJ is one of the best singers I have ever come across. Her ability to communicate the emotion of almost any song she takes on is legendary. Keep in mind, Angelina is 9yr 2m old here; she WROTE this arrangement, hence the notes to the band leader earlier in the video (the group called her "The Boss"); English is not her native tongue (but she can also speak Norwegian, Farsi and Japanese); she entered "Norway's Got Talent" at age seven, although she had her 8th birthday just before she won the show; she is also Norway's youngest ever published author. She has been singing at live concerts, on TV shows worldwide, and recorded her first album (which made the jazz charts in some countries) at age 11! I could go on for another few thousand words, but instead I've subscribed, and am simply going to enjoy watching you guys get shocked as you hear more.

Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. I've been addicted to her music for over 6 years now & I have no interest in rehab. I listen to her every day & she has a profound calming & relaxing effect on me & many of her fans. That she can replicate so well what she heard him do, and at such a young age, just shows her range and musical understanding and maturity. Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 years old (or even younger) - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time. In addition, Angelina performed an unreleased original song Princess of Ruins at her Las Vegas concerts - if and when that is officially released it will be her 13th original. Well, welcome to the AJ Rabbit Hole! You are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, "Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.

On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On December 11, 2023, she was asked to come back and perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She first performed at this prestigious event in 2014 when she was 8. On Feb.29th, 2024, she performed 2 shows on one night at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. A film crew followed her and created a documentary of her called Angelina Jordan: 10 Years In The Making which premiered on her official TH-cam channel on March 29th, 2024. Currently, she is working with 3 time Grammy winner songwriter/producer Toby Gad creating new original music for her to sing. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. She and her family moved to Los Angeles in 2018 when she was 12.

Angelina was born January 10, 2006, in Oslo, Norway, and is currently an 18 year old vocal phenomenon, a striking beauty, and one of the most empathetic, caring people on the planet. She ALWAYS sings without shoes, and there is a very powerful and touching story behind why she does so since age six! She even wrote and published a book about it (“Between Two Hearts”) at age 9 (same year as this video), making her the youngest published author in Norwegian history!

The Hotel Cafe is not a restaurant, in spite of the name. It’s a performance venue that serves alcohol. The floor has had many dropped bottles in its day, I’m sure! I’ve been there, and there’s no way I would go barefoot! She only did two songs, it was really Toby’s show, not Angelina’s. She was the guest artist for a couple songs.

“Best known artists” and yet still unknown by the majority of the population. I think the problem is “the music industry” has become so fragmented. Back in the day, we all listened to the same music on the radio. Oh sure, there were “easy listening”, and “oldies”, and “country”, and “rock” stations, but that was about how fragmented it got. Today, everyone listens to their own play list. Which can keep you from discovering new artists and genres. I don’t know what it will take for Angelina to become a household name, but she’s so good I’m sure it will happen eventually. I think her association with Toby Gad will help. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying her music as it happens!

If you want to "see where she's going with her originals now". She had an EP out last year, Old Enough. 6 songs, 2 singles before that at 14/15, since she signed with her label, Republic Records UMG. Also a newly and approved sneak peak at the next one, Bad Valentine, we got 2 months ago, so you can really see what she's like super recent. People can react to it and do.
However, keep in mind this a crazy skillset and even us superfans do not know where she is. This is gonna take albums and albums. In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").
So, she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next...
