On February 26, 2024 in Istanbul, Dimash Qudaibergen presented a music video for a new work “When I’ve got you”. The premiere took place as part of a press conference held by the artist in connection with his upcoming solo concert in Turkiye.
The main idea of the clip belongs to Dimash and the MV’s director Galym Asylov: “A world-famous artist, who leads a very private lifestyle, decided to give his first open interview. The young journalist chosen by him goes to the meeting in great excitement, immensely worried and tormented by the question: “What if?…”. The woman’s vivid imagination suggests a mysterious image of the main character and plunges her into a mystical story.
“Everyone knows that Dimash is a kind and simple person. Not much is known about his personal life, he does not often appear in the media space and does not give particularly personal interviews. We wanted to present the artist from a slightly different side, in a “book”, fictionalized image”, - shared the director.
Galym Assylov and Zhanibek Gusmanov - the second director of the project and line producer say that the shooting process was very interesting, it took place in Almaty. A creative team of more than 70 people worked on the clip with the involvement of specialists from China. It was there that the costume of the main character was sewn and together with Kazakhstan specialists created the whole image of the artist.
The casting was not simple enough: many actresses and models were tried for the role of the main character and other characters. Three locations were used in the clip, and the search for ancient culture was not an easy task. In a creative atmosphere, a large international team tried to create a mysterious story in every element of the interior, in every detail of the costume, in every frame.
The composition itself was written by Dimash. The author of the lyrics was Candice Kelly. The co-writer of the lyrics, co-producer, orchestrator and arranger was Dmytro Gordon.
“Working with Dimash is a dream for many, and I felt extremely honored and privileged that he has entrusted me to work on this song with him. It felt like a great responsibility, as “When I’ve Got You” was a step into a new direction for Dimash as an artist, and it was also something different for his core audience. Dimash told me that for some time, he wanted a track on the verge of blues, jazz, rock, and r&b, and my suggestion was to make it sound fresh and edgy - something raw but beautiful, something truly unexpected. That has resulted in a blend of some heavy drums, electric guitars and piano together with the orchestra, synthesizers, harmonica, and even a choir. We wanted the song to sound groovy, cinematic, epic, and bold. No holding back!,” shared Dmytro Gordon. (Dimash News)

He has many incredibly great music videos. The most of them are like mini-movies. And with that one he surprised us fans. Again. There he showed us a completely different side of himself. Not only is he a great (in my opinion the greatest) singer, but also an incredibly talented actor. He made a very convincing vampire. I love that. I love that genre a lot. What a great song. A wide range again. Many of the reactors don’t realize it because it's not this obvious. Excellent riffs and runs. A really great guitar solo. I think he had a lot of fun playing the seducer. It is now one of my favorite music videos. The funny thing is that I said this in his other MVs too😅

We waited so long for this and it was worth it. Who knew we needed a long-haired Dimash?! This is a mash up of Bram Stoker's "Dracula", "Interview with a Vampire", Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell". Most of Dimash's music videos are cinematic. Love this mv.

Thank you. The old recording at the beginning is 'The Flower Duet' from 1915. Dimash's music videos are always incredible and of high quality, small movies. Dimash has done a lot of concerts that are mind boggling. They are in multiple languages, many different genres, and always about 3 or more hours. Dimash hasn't been involved in contests for several years except as a judge and as a special performance. Recently, he has done a gorgeous duet with Placido Domingo, and several other performances and duets in China. There's a lot that you haven't heard or experienced! This song and music video is very fun and of high quality. Love it.

Have you watched Be With Me, mv by Dimash. Some surprises in that. Then Under One Sky is a 13 min masterpiece that took Dimash to compose, act in and get it filmed. It’s a very important message to humanity. Dimash’s voice is almost secondary to what he wants to convey,

Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality...
Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is:
A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.
Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing...
The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details.
As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone!
The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! The impeccable editing with precise cuts that complete the script, simple and extremely efficient effects and masterful performances: Dimash (the seductive and tormented vampire, Polina Guzieva (the passionate journalist), Manuel de Jesús Sánchez Sotolongo (the sinister butler) and the harem of soulless vampires (Angelin Sapozhnikova, Valeriya Lyasheva, Andreana Tkachenko, Maria Aristatarkhova, Lilia Kiser and Klinnyushina Alina), superb!
The music is a show in itself: a mix of Blue, Scat, Jazz, R&B, Rock... That's exactly what it means. It's just a phrase that young people use that got popular in hip hop culture. I'm surprised to see a grown man using it.

I myself learned the meaning of that phrase a short while ago, when other dears explained it to me. Even though the majority of media I have been consuming for years is English - I never knew what "ride or die" means.
And I never knew the context this is used in. 😅
So I‘m not at all worried that someone who has learned English only recently does not know the "proper use" of this phrase. 😜

Dimash is an explorer. Only with music. There is a great variety of styles...although his main wheelhouse is classical crossover. He can sing anything and has a deep love of music and what he does. I think this video took us all aback at first until we realized how good it is. The vampire theme has become it's own genre. We all know classic Dracula. Like the Phantom of the Opera. Scary good.

I'm English & had never heard of the 'Ride or Die' thing before this so I had to just go & look it up. Seems to fit this song I think. Perhaps Dimash, not being American, hadn't heard it before either in the annoying way you see it? I adore the bluesy feel to this video & hope he does more like it. He is fantastic!

I also love hearing Dimash dabbling in this bluesy/soul type music. Hope he does more. In his defense, he didn't write the lyrics and not being a native English speaker, he may not realize that the "ride or die" is a bit cheesy. He has many excellent music videos that are like mini movies. The most important and impressive one is The Story of One Sky. It lasts over 12 minutes and is amazing. The production quality is out of this world and the vocals are jsut ridiculous. Dimash also wrote this song and he said it took him over 3 years. Highly recommend!

Great reactions. Love Dimash with his bluesy tones and his image in this is fire. Another couple suggestions for you: The Story of One Sky is a literal masterpiece, took Dimash 3 years to create it. You absolutely must see that! Also, 'Unforgettable Day' (Live at Gekko), and 'Daybreak' are another 2 I highly recommend from Dimash x

Good for you for calling it out because you are correct. His talent should be above Americanized...fill in the blank. I ❤ Dimash but in retrospect, after promoting it hard, I am sorry I did. Dimash’s music often comes with deep meaning, this one is no different. If you can think in terms of circumstances dimash has been in and his dears, then every word in the lyrics will make sense to you.

This is a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo. He dreamed from then to now to meet and work with the Maestro. This was part of a program called Virtuosos, which supports young classical artists. Dimash was invited to be a judge on the program by Maestro Domingo. I know he appreciated the opportunity to support young artists. We are all do proud of him and hope all his dreams come true. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal.
He's also a full grown man who has his desires and expresses them. lol I love the sexy part of Dimash in his OMVs. Such as the OMV of "Love of Tired Swans" and "Be With Me" He obviously loves the ladies and we sure do love him showing it.
His fairly recent music videos are all really good and produced to movie quality. They are really mini-movies with entertaining and intriguing story lines.
You really must watch his official music video "The Story of One Sky" at some time. It is his magnum opus (to this point--who knows what is in the future.) He composed the music, wrote the story-line, acts and sings in it. It is a searing indictment of the horrors and ultimate futility of war. Don't go into it too lightly, though--it is a serious piece on a serious topic. His singing is spectacular, the videography and story are engrossing, and his acting is top notch.

Remember Dimash doesn't speak American English vernacular. We can't judge lyrics on that I believe. Anyway, this song is incredible, I absolutely love the blues/gospel/rock mix.
If you had watched through the end credits, you'd have seen who the guitarist is.
The "ride or die" line kind of took me aback, too. To be fair, the lyrics weren't written by Dimash, but by an American woman...and they do fit the space in the song to describe a constant partnership, and incorporate the whole living/dead dichotomy.
