I remember this gig. My home town! This was their "Strip Malls of America" tour. I was at Subway, standin' in line during my lunch break when 3 or 4 members of Zakk's ground team came bursting through the doors, passing out coupons good for $3.00 off any (cold) $5.00 foot-long (, - including the fountain beverage of your choice, and a bag of chips,) - in exchange for our willingness to attend/populate their "concert" for the sake of the video being made. I may just have been a dumb ass roofer on his lunch break, - but that was the greatest day of my life! \m/ (*_*) \m/
Cool story sir. I've watched this video probably half a dozen times. I love the energy. The way he reaches back behind his head during the solo. Very cool stuff.
I hate to think what Zakk's poor mom went through in the delivery room when the doctors were trying to crowbar him out while he was wailing on that Les Paul. She's gotta be a serious trooper! Many thanks to her for giving Zakk to us all!
The macho bassist worked at the gtr shop where this Gibson clinic was held. He hired me to drum and himself (of course) to play bass. We met Zakk, drank a bunch of beer, talked shop and then what you see is us playing together for the first and last time .He was still putting Pride and Glory together and hadn't officially announced his departure from Ozzy... Love it? Hate it? I had a blast! After the gig, we all ran out and bought bike shorts! LOL Michael Brasic
I love these Pride and Glory vids. A young Zakk rippin it up in a strip mall parking lot. I'm sure no one had an inkling at this point the illustrious career he would have. He deserved it......
Thank you VH fan. You can always count on a Van Halen fan who digs Zakk Wylde to find you some good tunes. This version is awesome and i wish i could figure out zakk's gear for myself. That one chord he hits during War Pigs from this parking lot concert is intense. One point four million views; that tells you something. God bless America!
I love how Zakk Wylde covering other songs basically means, one - maybe two - minutes of essentially shouting lyrics at the microphone, anywhere between two and eight minutes of guitar solo and then half a minute outro... I like it, all songs should be like that =D
YOU teach a music class? REALLY?? Let me guess, the final exam everybody must do the perfect POWERSTANCE. Do you feel up your students to ensure PROPER POSTURE!? :) ROTFLMAO.
Almost everything has a price tag on it... Must be a music store gear-demo. Best one I've ever heard! The publicity is priceless with playing like that! I bet kids were getting in line to buy one of those amps! haha!
I saw one of these Zakk 'clinics' about 20 years ago at moody music and it was awesome. Zakk was wearing the same clothes but had a locomotive engineers hat on.
hes like right in the middle of a mall rolled out the stacks and the drums and just started jammin hahaha thats shits crazy.......good postin......... thanks
I would imagine this event was a Gibson "seminar"/sponsored event. I attended one at a local music store a few years back and Zack played with some of the employees of the store and demo'ed some gear while jammin' on mostly southern rock and a killer version of War Pigs. Afterward he signed autographs and shook hands for a while. Pretty cool event from what I recall. And yeah, it was set up in the parking lot.
WOW I Wish They Had A Guy Like This Outside My Shop On A Saturday Morning ! Mind You I Wouldnt Get Any Shopping Done For Dancing. Great Sound Going On Here---Can You Come To Coventry Please ? Thanks For Sharing. Keep Smiling.
this was July 10, 1993. Scanlon music had Zakk play out in the parking lot for some kind of promotion. My friend filmed this whole show. There's a few different songs from it here on youtube.
I like this Zakk a little more. Of course todays Zakk is awesome but I'm also more in the hardrock buisness but I also like to hear metal. ZAKK FOR LIFE
@Romuluscreative - dude, your post wins the award of the year; "sent you home with your skull on fire"...ROFLMAO...I've had serious abdominal surgery and your post is going to send me back if I'm not careful. I couldn't agree with you more. You're right on. He's awesome and anyone should be so gifted to be able to crank like he does. Plus his vocals are great. Keep up the great posts and thanks for putting a smile in my soul. God Bless bro....
BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Albert Collins.... those are the blues. Guys like SRV and Leslie West CARRIED THE BLUES into the 80's and 90s. Leslie took it right to Today. Zakk wouldnt know the Blues if it hit him in the head going 5 miles an hour on the L.A. Freeway.
Ozzy Osborne (from Black Sabbath of course) said many a time on the Howard Stern radio show on 92.3 K-Rock that Mountain was their favorite group. Sabbath opened for Mountain when they 1st came to America. Leslie, Corky, Ozzie, and Tony jammed many a time together, and sadly in this world of TH-cam, nothing has ever surfaced from those jam sessions...
In my 51 yrs of life, never seen a shopping center concert. Yet! I would drive a thousand miles to see this man live!!!

Zakk nails this . Leslie West would approve.

I love these Pride and Glory vids. A young Zakk rippin it up in a strip mall parking lot. I'm sure no one had an inkling at this point the illustrious career he would have. He deserved it......
Before he became the Nordic God Of Heavy Metal.

Too bad I was only 10 when this went down or else I would have been there for sure. I still end up in this parking lot from time to time.
too bad i wasnt born...
Where's it at?
I love how Zakk Wylde covering other songs basically means, one - maybe two - minutes of essentially shouting lyrics at the microphone, anywhere between two and eight minutes of guitar solo and then half a minute outro...
I like it, all songs should be like that =D
Subway has Pastrami and Swiss now! RAWK!

Ive seen Zakk n concert three times....and though I like his older stuff...he's awesome!
I saw one of these Zakk 'clinics' about 20 years ago at moody music and it was awesome. Zakk was wearing the same clothes but had a locomotive engineers hat on.
Perfect demonstration of rock star stance at the end of the solo.
all we need is Jared jamming to the tunes and it's golden!
