    Just to mention the maker 3 only cuts that fast with the SMART material. So if you mainly use standard vynil, they are next to, if not the same cutting time.

    I've been looking at Cricut videos all day today trying to find the right press and cutter. I enjoyed your video the best because of the joy I see. Gonna get the Maker 3, I may need the long cuts someday. Subbed, will be back! All the best from Seattle, US

    Hi, thank you for this video, quick question, for the matless cutting, is that subjective to cricut smart vinyl, or would it work if you use a different brand of vinyl, thank you , also the extra speed is that also just because of matless. If you have to use a mat is the speed still faster?
    Thank you

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  ปีที่แล้ว

      Faster cutting is for matless only :)
      You can cut other vinyl without a mat, but I wouldnt recommend it too often as if you accidentally cut through the backing you can damage your machine

    I think it is a bit short sighted not include mats with the Maker 3. Sure they are trying to move crafters towards the smart materials however these come at premium cost with more wastage. For those in countries that have very limited access to the smart materials then mats are still very necessary.

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont disagree with you! Mats arent expensive, and they should include at least one! It is a bit short sighted for sure, and many dont realise this before they unbox the machine and want to use it 😞

    I think i am late for the party but I'd love to know if the maker 3 can detect smart materials or not. Silly question, I know, but just curious if the maker 3 can be used with 3rd part materials without a mat

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not a silly question at all! The machine relies on you choosing the material, so if you select a non smart material it will use those settings. You can use any materials from any brand with the machine!

    To cut normal material you have go buy the mats separately, in addition to the extra blades that come with the 3

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will have to buy mats and the fabric blade separately if you buy the Maker 3 yes!

    I opted for the Maker 3, even though it was way more expensive. I do love the machine but I was mildly disappointed that they included no mat whatsoever. Almost understandable since it can cut without a mat. The lack of the cutting wheel, that is included with the less expensive maker, has me livid! Cricut is showing their greed again. The mats and cutting wheels are expensive for the consumer. Not nearly as expensive for Cricut. They are cheaping out to the tune of $100 for the end user. It probably cost them less than $20 for the mats and cutter. Add to that is the fact the Maker 3 is a couple hundred more than the Maker, makes this offensive. Cricut wont respond to any messages either. Pure greed from Cricut.

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely hear you on the price point! Its my main gripe too, but Cricut is not known to be in the lower price bracket, so I guess they are at least true to their brand! ;) Luckily for us, the higher price tag comes with an extremely well made machine, so at least we dont feel like its a complete waste!

    I have an Explore Air 2, and I just had to get a new one from Cricut after only having it since December. I started using it in Jan. So I was pretty disappointed that I had to get a new machine already. I have been thinking about getting an upgraded model. Seems like the original Maker is on sale right now, but I am still not sure. I like the quieter feature, and faster. I don't plan on using smart materials, as I don't like the Cricut branded products for the most part. I am still on the fence about which one I want even after this fantastic video. lol

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you arent interested in cutting long decals and cutting without a mat, I would save the extra money and get the Maker, its only slightly quieter, and smart materials are nice, but its not the be-all of the machines! :)

    Did your Cricut lockup and blink when updating software. If so how do I get older software?

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your Cricut will not work during a software update. Best to leave it alone for a few minutes and let it update, If issues persist, I would suggest reaching out to member care
