This video fulfilled my fantasy of the most idyllic way to spend a day in France!!!! 💙 Farmers market, antiques, french bistro and choosing plants for the garden....PERFECTION!!!!🌷
I absolutely love viewing the plants with you. A couple quick things about the Gingko tree. I moved into a house with a full grown one, actually quite rare in Kentucky, and it displays the most gorgeous golden leaf in the fall. It also comes in male and female variteties, one stinks and the other doesn’t. Apparently it can also change genders in its life. It is also one of the only trees to survive the bombing of Hiroshima. They were planted everywhere in Japan and after the bombs went off it looked like a barren wasteland, but next spring, the only trees to return were the Gingkos. They are like a symbol of hope and rebirth and their genetic structure and make up is quite amazing. I would highly recommend one for your chateau as an addition to your tree canopy and you could see it in all its glory. The leaves have such a beautiful and unique shape. I wish I could post a picture of mine here. Happy Spring to you all and thank you for all the effort you put into your garden and videos. Blessings from Kentucky!
There are several ginko in my town, some old, some newly planted. I use to collect the golden leaves and press them, They keep their colour for a long time
😉 That's a nice story about Gingkos. Everyone needs a little hope, resilience, & determination, esp. in our 🪴plants & trees🌳. 🏇 Did you 🎉 celebrate 🎉 the 🏆Kentucky Derby?🍹Mint julips & other fine Southern traditions? Never been〰️and I understand it's controversial for some folks〰️ but my parents were absolutely horse ❤️ mad. They took us to all the local tracks & stables to 👁👁watch the thoroughbreds run🐎. They faithfully followed the 🗞sporting news. We'd have a little viewing party with cocktails, pecan pie, & fancy hats 👒 in LA. 😃Enjoy looking at the fashion pics 📸 & event recaps nowadays. 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Yes, we just celebrated the Derby and I live in the city where it takes place. Pretty much our whole city shuts down and it was so neat this year because a long shot won. It was 89-1 odds and the horse was at the back of the group and made a huge comeback passing all the others to win. It was so awesome to watch. All us locals throw Derby parties and make a favorite called Derby pie, and yes we love watching the unique fashions. It’s a really fun tradition. Blessings to you in California from a local Kentucky girl.
“We just need to buy another 60 acres and we can fit everything in there.” Kirstie, a girl after my own heart. We live on a small city lot but I’m always convinced we can find room for one more plant.
Grannies bonnets are one of my favourite flowers...they come in many colours and are very promiscuous!🤣. They easily look after themselves. I hope you got some!!
The three of you were so happy in this gorgeous nursery garden. It was so pleasant to hear all your wondrous exclamations. The garden is going to impress Mummy when she comes. It´s going to be so exciting. And we youtube friends watching are secretly planing to come all at once to see the full blossoming at Lalande. haha It´s a dream, but I would have liked that. And then: la belle époque haha
Yes, when is Mummy coming? I miss her. Please, let your aunt tell us a little about her childhood in France. She is so nice. I love to hear her voice. Oh and please, could we see her and Amaury interacting just a little?
That would also be my idea of a perfect day…farmers market, a little antiquing , lunch in a nice cafe and then a visit to an arboretum with a plant sale! Pure bliss. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely!! I too love peonies, so much that I have 27 different varieties in my gardens! LaLande will look even more beautiful if you keep adding plants!
This was so much FUN! I love how you all just planted over 1,200 and became inspired to riff on the design and plant even more. It would be so lovely if someone who sends things to Chateau unwrapped would send Kirsty a sizable gift certificate to her favorite plant purveyor so that she could get even more of her favorite trees!
Frankly…the wild garlic is THE BEST!! I’ve been investing in them for 8 years now, in our garden. Just mix them in a bit of cream cheese and you’re good to go. In German, it’s called Bärlauch. The first food bears collect when they wake up from their winter sleep. Thank you for the joy!! 💝💕💝
Visiting my cousin in NL and waking up early, walking along the road to an asparagus farm and buying freshly cut white asparagus is a favourite memory.
You could deffinately plant more flowers in the walled garden. They would make it even more beautiful, and help attract pollinators 🙂 But then.... You have a huge garden to fill, so next time, bring a van - or 2 😂 Please update us on the placement of the plants 😁
You have found your song! La Belle Epoque fits you so well! Thank you for the beautiful stroll through the gardens. Spring is so late here in the heart of the US. We are about a month behind due to cold and rain. Things are finally starting to blossom. I also like how you are doing the ending now. It’s a softer ending to your videos. Love to you all! 🥰
So Fabulous….the whole experience of gardening center of the most amazing flowering plants and trees. I couldn’t imagine making choices from so much beauty. You all made great choices for years of enjoyment to come.
Such a lovely episode. I live in the heart of Alabama and our countryside is so similar to your area of France. We too have beautiful farmers markets with all of the local veg and flowers, honey, goat cheese, and other local specialties. Chicks 🐣 and ducklings 🐥 whenever the appropriate season. I too love where I live and enjoy the rural but simple elegance of it all. Plus, I’m only 35 minutes from a metropolitan city of 1.2 million. Here’s to happiness in all of your adventures and the beauty and grace you bring into our lives each week! Merci beaucoup
Mummy would be so proud of you for being so excited over gardens and gardening. I can't say I blame you though because they are all incredibly beautiful. I can't wait to see how the gardens at La Lande will change over the next few years.
What a delightful excursion! Thoughts of Monet. So looking forward to the lake full again with water, fish and aquatic bird life. The property is so lovely.
I’m in garden heaven looking at all the beautiful choices. So glad you are buying lots of ‘flowers’ Stephanie as I adore colourful gardens such as you were immersed in today. I will gladly join you on any other expeditions such as this especially with such a gardenaholic friend as Kirsty! Her and your enthusiasm obviously rubbed off on Philip who seems to be totally converted to visiting a garden centre now? 👌🌹🌺🍃🌸🌿🍁🌼🌻🥰
Message for Kirsty: Acer looked like my old family homes gardens acer which was a paper back acer! Daffodils/blue bells snow drops into the woods? I love Jasmin and honeysuckle both smell beautiful! You and Philip and Kirstie, Dan And Davie should definitely go to the Chelsea flower show! Love the idea of the boat house as a bar! What about lilies in the moat or on the lake when it’s back? Ps lovely vlog!
Loved reliving the French farmer's market since it has been years since I lived there and in Geneva and the selection was the same. Sad. to miss it :( Liked the upbeat music, thanks for taking us along!! Your plant choices, gorgeous colors.
I love Kirsty's contagious delight with the plants! And did you catch the "yet" in her questioning if Lalande had a ginkgo tree YET? I'll be looking forward to that addition! Living in a very shady spot, I so enjoy Lalande's beautiful outdoor spaces!
Loved the vlog. Especially the market and plant sales. The peonies were stunning. Aquilegia were stunning (ladies bonnets). The trees were wonderful too. I'd have loved to have seen it. I've only a patio garden. I hate housework, but gardening is something different because it you tend it it gives you more back in return. I have an olive tree very cherished bought from Aldi some years ago. It's survived and last year I had about 10 olives which were edible and I made a pasta puttanesca a la Delia. Bottle brush, daphne, myrtle, rosemary, sage in pots and one rose and a box, a hebe, and a glorious fuschia in the raised bed. Unfortunately the Cape daisies fell foul of a frost, and they've all died. But it'll make way for something else. I've 2 large pots waiting for a plant to fill them now what shall I buy?
I have stage 4 cancer and find little to make me happy at times but you all make smile. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook makes me smile. I love watching your videos. Thank you all so much. Love from Ohio USA!

Love the visit to the market and I would be in heaven at the plant sale. The huge rhododendrons must be over 80 years old. I’ve had mine over 25 years and they are a quarter of the size. Love all the plants you bought. They will look stunning. Here in New England I usually wait until Mother’s Day to plant my veggies and new plants as the threat of frost has ended. This week will therefore be busy😂😂😂Thanks for taking us along on this fun journey 😍😘
For the love of simple pleasures - this joyful video brings back so many pleasant memories of idyllic séjours in the French countryside. I’ll be dreaming of the sights, sounds and scents of small town farmer’s markets with all their visual delights of colorful flowers, freshly harvested produce and glorious pastries. Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing your perfect French day with us. I’d take it in a heartbeat, minus the missing car and the somewhat temperamental green van machine.
I love la belle epoque haha I love le jardin de Lalande What a wonderful day in France, the fair and nursery were a sight to behold. I could have spent all day wandering through those gardens. Maybe someday when Stephanie is 80, the gardens of Lalande will be as grand...reaching round the expanded lake and along the river banks. Keep planting.

Ok I admit I was wrong! I really disliked the courtyard trees at first but I just love them now! Great job Davy and great job Stephanie for trusting Davy's vision!
I still think that structure is an eyesore around the fountain, such a shame! I love everything about Laland and admire Stephanie's bold choices, but those flattened trees around the fountain obstructing the view, I just cannot get my head around how on earth did that happen...
Beautiful gardens, lovely plants you picked and Kirstie’s tree too. Fun. Like to see the market foods and antique stores. Have to comment on how you’ve changed the patreon lists - love it! I can find me (just checking) and enjoy the view also. Thanks!
