Gajanan Chavhan The white paste is actually an ordinary office glue to glue papers hehe. I do not usually put fungicide in my cut roots unless I root sensitive specie. (But it is best to use fungicide though when you cut roots to be safe). The soil I use when I root materials like this in the video is pure coarse river sand ONLY and they are quite sterile so I find fungicides unnecesary. The glue and other sealing materials is just to seal the wood from water so it would not rot, it can sometimes hinder root growth a bit (in theory).
Elvia De La Cruz Martinez I'm using coarse river sand which I bought from the quarry, then I further sieve them to two sizes 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch. But any bonsai soil mix would work whatever is available in your place.
Dear sir....can you please tell how long did it take to grow the first fresh roots and shoots after this potting? I potted a similar ficus benghalensis 2 weeks ago. it is in a moist and summer environment. how long does it take for the first green shoots to appear?
Thanks so much for the info.... Your knowledge of growing techniques as well as the results you achieve are outstanding. Please continue to do these videos, they are so inspiring!
In reply to Henson Dalguntas, example of trees you can bonsai is Ficus or balete in our language. Another is Tamarind, Bantolinao. Kanang dagko og dahon sama sa star apple pwede gihapon. Pili.a ng hard wood. ayaw ng narra kay mo straight ra. kinahanglan naa poy liko liko ang trunk.
Pure river sand in my case because it is most available and cheap. I sieve them to two sizes the coarser ones I place at bottom of pot as drainage layer the finer ones at middle and top. There many better alternatives like "academa" which is imported from Japan. I sometimes use broken clay pots which I hammer to grind, then sieve.this I use for drainage layer, it has good moisture retaining capacity.
Sir can i ask what is the soil mixture that you usually use for (1.) newly collected materials ( 2.) Trees that already established & also for trees that needs re potting. Please also share you fertilization techniques i.e ratio, mixture etc. Thanks sir for your very informative videos.More power !
+Ronald Rigor 1. Soil for potting newly collected materials is coarse river sand and no other mix to prevent clogging.. The material should be tied to the pot and place under complete shade, not just under a tree for about 2 to 3 months then eased out to the sun once the shoots are brown. 2. Trees that are already established but roots have just been trim for repotting, I still use coarse river sand because that is my cheapest available soil. This time you can mix with organic fertilizers such as vermicast or compost but no chemical fertz as it can burn the newly cut roots. Ensure a good drainage layer of unmix coarse sand to facilititate drainage. Established plants in pots I top up with "Slow release fertilizers" like "Osmocote or Nutricote". They are chemical in nature but acts fast. I wrap them in stockings, or nylon and mostly in a commercial type fert dispensers.

sir bon goodevening naa lang ko pangutana nimo unsa may lupa akong gamiton naa ko buhangin pwede isagol nako sa brown soil ka nang clay pero mas daghan ang buhangin kaysa brown soil? daghan salamat po.
if you are just starting to root a material. better pure sand no soil for drainage. but if you are repotting an established root system yes you can combine soil and ferts.
+Charles Alipiio For rooting purposes I use pure coarse river sand and no organics to facilitate aeration and drainage. When I put the plant in sun, I usually top up with vermicast or compost as mulch also to prevent overheating of the sand/gravel.
nir913 The best cut paste for roots though unlike branches is one which have anti fungal action. here I am just using an ordinary glue to seal water from the cut which might rot the wood (semi hard in this case).
Still thriving but I have difficulty making it into bonsai, the growth have very long internodes making it difficult to look like a tree. I will post update soon.
Plant first in appropriate size of pot, not too big to prevent root rot and so you can manage. Put in shade till new shoots are growing then ease to sun. let established (roots coming at bottom of pot). Shape the trunk by wiring and transfer to larger pot. Once you are satisfied with trunk form and major branches plant in ground for fastest growth. I use the colander method to facilitate root management. Do not prune to maximize growth. Protect from animals with fence if necessary, water and fertilize as standard procedure. Harvest only when you're design trunk dimension is attained.
+Bindu Dijendranath I think the coarse sand will work in your climate which can be colder. The principle to understand is that the coarser the soil use the more it can dehydrate faster. So if your climate can go colder than mine here then the coarser sand should work better. In my climate the coarser soil which is like gravel stones can heat up and burn the fragile roots. so when it is time to put the plant out to the sand I top it up with mulch such as vermicast or compost or put a cotton cloth over the soil.
Please note that in the not tropical parts of the world bare-rooting or cutting off roots will kill almost any variety of tree!!! Cheers, Hans van Meer.
Hi,. Can yoi make a video of a basics do's and dont's on how to make bonsai? Which trunks of trees to use also basic materials that we need to have on hand, why and why not we need to put to use that somethin like that? I mean the very basics? Please?🙏🏽🙏🏽😭
i'll try to make up something similar to what you are asking. but to make bonsai it is also a slow process cause you cannot cramp all the concepts at once. if you watch my tutorials all concepts have been discussed already you'd notice. try to be patient and watch them all and ask questions from there.
this video covers only how to plant newly collected materials which is only a step in creating bonsai. you can get the rest of the principles by following my videos. just like any endeavor you''ve got to do your homework. and remember you are getting this lessons for free.

intrigued you are using white glue to seal the wound, is this general PVA or wood glue ?
Very Great and informative Video. ..What is white paste? Is it plywood glue? what fungicide you use.

This video is AMAZING! One question, did you use root hormone and if so where did you place it?
I Sometimes use Rooting Hormone, Liquid form is whats available here, but in this case I did not use Hormone cause this specie is a vigorous grower.
