Have been doing this for 3 or four years using a hard hat and when it gets nasty with flies ,gnats ,and mosquitoes I clean it off and put more tangle foot on. At times I've counted over a 100 flies on it. I also have mounted stakes on my garden trailer and using painted milk jugs done the same.

I'm a fan of the head netting.
I got a blue construction hat...stuck wide clear tape all over it..then smeared tanglefoot all over it.$14 at walmart..works like a charm...3 yrs now
