    I heard people saying JJ acts “condescending” by acting like he knows way more about basketball than the average fan… but he does. He’s literally a former NBA player and college star. I don’t understand how the average TH-camr or Twitter/reddit user can get upset that he knows he’s more knowledgeable than them…

    • @rmelo2382
      @rmelo2382 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +57

      he is condescending. and playing in the nba doesn’t mean you know more than some guy in his basement. guess what some people no matter how knowledgeable they are they either don’t have the talent opportunities or both to make it. reading stats and knowing sets and schemes isn’t really that hard if you put in the time. it’s basketball not quantum physics. so yes he should keep all the arrogant garbage to himself and not go on first take (a show all built on drama not knowledge) to scold people and then say he wasn’t whining when he was

    • @Therightoner

      No, JJ is not standing on business at all. This thing has gotten personal, and it's keep running in that direction.
      I love JJ's podcast, and I appreciate his attempt to educate the fans the game. And I'll continue to support him and watch his videos. They're very good.
      But he needs to get off this drama. It's got personal a long time ago. He was perfectly fine with Doc on his podcast. Things got sour when Doc had an interview somewhere saying that the Lob City Clippers team failed because of the players, once again, taking zero accountability. Then JJ came out with Jamaal Crawford taking a shot at Doc. And ever since, he's been on a crusade to eviscerate Doc at every chance. It's ugly to watch.
      If he wants to stand on business, he needs to keep doing what he's doing - educating the fans the game of basketball. He needs to stay away from all this drama, because that's exactly what he criticized about the today's NBA, saying that it's all about the narratives and dramas, which is ironic; JJ is doing the exact thing he criticized - facilitating a drama.

    Same exact situation with Cam Newton, he had a take about various QB's in today's game and not a single one of these "analysts" actually talked about Cam's take and took personal shots at him and his career.

    3:44 - 4:05 was SO WELL SAID. I'd take it a step further and mention how easily people are offended by opposing viewpoints. People don't really want discourse and they definitely don't want a conversation with someone who appears to be without an agenda or narrative to spin. It's a cycle of selective outrage nowadays and sports "talk" has felt dead for years.

    JJ - you’re the best source of real NBA insight that there is. It is sad that people can’t listen to an opinion they may disagree with and reply with a different point of view. The fact that many people start with outrage and then start to personally attack the person they disagree with just demonstrates how immature and mindless they really are. When did we start living in a world where there is only one acceptable opinion on every subject? Keep doing what you do, JJ. Ignore the noise. Thank you.

    People that kept saying JJ is right. If hes a good analyst and fair commentator then he would also state bucks issues while doc took over. He never mentioned anything about dame and khris being injured. He didnt mentioned bucks improved defense while the team is going through tough road stretches while having their starters injured or away. He didnt mentioned the bucks missed makeable and open shots. If fans just listen to JJ podcast and look at docs record then yes people really think wow JJ is spitting facts but lol watch the games, understand the situation then you would know things JJ said is just biased and half true facts

    This is one of the best, if not the best podcast out there for basketball. The problem with most people today is that they don't want to hear "your" truth. They only want to hear "their" truth. Two things about people attacking the person and not the point. 1) Sometimes people attack the person because the messenger is important to a message as much as we dont want to admit it. Stephen A Smith saying something does not hit the same as another analyst, even if what is said is true by the other analyst. 2) Other times, it's just that there is no way to refute or prove what was said and so the only thing left to do is attack the person or some other peripheral aspect. JJ saying Doc doesnt take responsibility is purely his opinion. It's not based on anything or wasnt presented to be based on anything and it felt (now confirmed) was personal. So Pat Bev came along with his own opinion which was also obviously personal. JJ made an emotional take and got an emotional answer.

    On the educating fans Zion thing, if you could put some kind of indicator where that be the title or picture that says it’s a film break down or more in depth. I listen/watch a bunch of your stuff but don’t catch it all. As much as I like the rest of what y’all do, I’d go outta my way for that sorta breakdown. So if it’s more obvious that’s what it is compared to discussion, interview and recaps I’d watch more of them.

    It seems people today all they do is complain “ego” reasons. You know when it comes to sports, I don’t want to view comedy on a sports channel. I watch to understand and in the process of it all, you speak facts, numbers. You need your own show. Ppl get offended if the wind blows South, East. You speak my language when it comes to sports. JJ Redick had a stellar career and he was eventually hampered by injuries---check the record. The beauty of listening to professionals that have expertise is it provides better insight and nuanced information. For many of us who studied and worked hard at our chosen profession, would be insulted if someone walked into your office/practice/etc. and said they could do your job better and offer advice because they read a book about the field that you're in. BTW, being fired from a coaching position to then have another one right before you're let go does not equate to accountability--JJ is not the only former player that has been vocal about Doc's lack of accountability--there are many former players that echo JJ's sentiment.

  • @Nex123
    @Nex123 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I enjoy learning the team make playbook, how they play it and what makes it successful. It's rare to have a former player such as yourself to explain plays to the general public. Personally, I don't care much for the drama behind it all, at the end of the day, make the kind of content you want and don't chase the numbers.
