Welcome back to the second episode of our moving vlogs. This was a big one, I can't believe I managed to find a piano. We also discovered we had mice and a leak so swings and roundabouts.

Aww Luke, you are allowed to be emotional. Look what you and Zara have done. It's one of the most important things you'll ever do. Piano looks fabulous! Leaks, not so much, and bleeping fire alarm is so annoying to you, but you'll get it sorted. You know what to do. And I'm so sure Iwan will help you too. You'll get it all done eventually. At least it's mice 🐭and not rats. My Son lives in similar house and had rats!!. Nightmare. So make sure all pipes into the house are sealed because the little darlings can squeeze in even the smallest hole/gaps. 🙄. Your house is already looking like a cozy home. Aww getting emotional is allowed Luke. You and Zara deserve to be so happy. You both work extremely hard in your daily jobs and here on TH-cam for us. Maggie seems happy too with her new home. Moving is so stressful but you guys seem to be doing OK on that front. 😂. It will all be worth it when yo are sitting down on your first night in sipping a glass of wine, saying. WE DID IT ! 🥂🍾🍷🍷❤

Wishing you a long and very happy life in your lovely new home Zara and Luke. Just a little tip, leave the washing machine door open slightly and the detergent door open slightly to allow air to circulate and avoid a buildup of mold and odor. 🍾🍷☕🫖🥂
Moving is so stressful. It makes you want to live in the house forever! I can't tell you how excited I am to watch your vlogs on your very first Christmas in the house. So well done, both of you!

Oh little Maggie when you played the piano and she is so excited to have a garden. You remind me so much of my son he cries when he is so grateful for the things he has in his life and to me its great to see how much you care and you don't take things for granted I'm so happy for you and cannot wait for part 3 ❤❤

Love your new place! Love your old sofas. The white sofa choice with Maggie and Ivy is not realistic. Will only stress out your budget, your dog and you! Been there with new, only to realize old is coziest without the stress! From Tennessee
Sadly, you can never overestimate how much work is involved in a move...but you are definitely handling it beautifully. Congratulations!! You didn't mention what the repair person found about the leak....was it an easy fix (hopefully!!)...Maggie is going to absolutely love the new home once she adjusts to everything...you can already tell how happy she is there...can't wait for the next installment...good luck with everything.
Lovely to see the piano in a home. Luke we have the same smoke detector. It is sourced to the mains,however the battery is the backup should the electricity goes down. You do need to press the test button to make sure it is active after replacing the battery. It is not a fire alarm. It is a smoke detector. However you can fit a fire alarm and they are reasonably priced from outlets. Also if you have a gas boiler think about a carbon monoxide detector.X🙏

Moving is an emotional roller coaster. It’s one of the biggest challenges in life. I’m so happy for you guys! It’s a great place for you , Zara and Maggie and I love the fox in the garden…beautiful! They almost seem tame compared to the fox around here in Illinois. Congratulations again on your new house! 🎉

Omg Luke I’m getting anxiety over packing we’re downsizing from 4 bedroom to bungalow can you imagine the amount of stuff. Great vlog your lovely new home is amazing it will take many years to make it how you want it, but worth it. We’re leaving after 24 years it’s a wrench but too big for us now How lovely to see you playing your piano so well deserved. I’m sure all 3 of you will be so happy in your little home

When packing framed pictures - you might want to place the pictures face to face and back to back as sometimes the wire hangers will damage the fronts of the next frames they’re against. ( I learned this the hard way, of course🙄). With the mold from your leak you may want to try 6% vinegar instead of bleach. The vinegar will kill the mold spores but bleach will not. ( so I’m told) Congrats on getting a wonderful piano and safe travels in your move!
My dog used to howl when I played the piano. Not sure if he was singing or complaining but it was really funny and cute.

I’m watching from the US and we do home inspections here- did you have one done before you moved in?? Buyer should’ve fixed the leak and got rid of the mice before you moved in.

Yes the lender sends in a surveyor, but like we experienced they are so lax and not very vigilant at spoting obvious problems! Also the seller should have been asked to sign to say everything is in working order like the dish washer and smoke alarm, the leak from plastic roof and the smell of mice wee upstairs, the agent again seems very lax in their care of these purchsers. The estate agents get paid from the sellers and just want to get the properties sold!!!! I'm sorry to rant on but these lovely young people are first time buyers and have not been looked after. But I know these guys are going to make this house a lovely home. 😊❤ From a retired estate agent Mrs O 🇬🇧

We might have a leak but we have a piano. What a brilliant sweat shirt slogan. The leak is just a blip you are on the ball getting it looked at and it will be sorted.

Luke...your varied talents are amazing! I didn't know you play piano. I'm so happy you got one It is a perfect size and looks like it's in very good shape, especially after it's tuned! After everything y’all have been through in order to get this new house, I think that you are very entitled to have a good happy cry! I love the piano, it’s beautiful. I grew up playing the piano and various other musical instruments. Every time you move a piano and have to load it on to a truck, you have to get it re-tuned. About three years ago I finally gave my piano to my grandson who learned to play it and now my youngest grandson is learning to play. I know you feel like you have to hurry and do everything but, just try to stay chill and do things as you can get to them. There will come a day when you can actually sit down with a nice book and a cup of coffee and everything will be done and you will be able to relax and enjoy your new home. I am so happy for y’all! The kitchen is looking great. I can tell that Iwan is in love with your new house. I’m sure he will be happy to help you with anything that you need to do In it. I am loving all the vlogs. Hello from the states. I don't usually comment but you have no idea how much you have inspired me Luke. I appreciate how humbled you are. I love following your guys journey. Watching you get emotional made me emotional in a good way❤ I remember the days I've struggled with my husband and kid, trying to make ends meet and paying rent for so long but didn't make enough income to pay a mortgage. My family's time came in 2018, we finally made our dream come true and built our first, two story home. As they say, it's not about how big your home is but the people you love the most that fills the home. Anything is possible ✨Congratulations to you both. Luke/ Zara welcome to be a house owner, you won’t be or the last to have leaks or mice problem in fact it’s a right off passage - it will be sorted don’t run before you can walk. You both have done so well in getting your first home, a foot on the ladder - don’t worry
So happy for you guys! Firefighter family here, make a habit of changing the batteries in your smoke alarms the first of the year. It will be easier to remember. Maggie with paws up on the counter just wanted her cameo and to tell us she is excited about her garden space. 🐾 Maggie has a new friend to play with.🦊 So what DOES the fox say? 🤭
April the 1st is a good memory jogger for battery changes in fire alarms. Don't be a fool to forget such an important task. After all there is already so much going on during the silly season at the change over of years.
Ask Ewan if you can borrow the kittens for a little while, you never know they might be all it needs, good luck.
Is Maggie ok with cats tho ?! Better to find the teeny tiny point of entry. Usually inside a cupboard or skirting board holes. I was amazed how tiny a hole they were getting thru in my new home.

So happy to watch these videos and be a part of your huge transition, thank you. I personally think the kitchen tiles are beautiful with the colour of the kitchen and I'd leave them for a while, the only thing I'd change is the big chopping board behind the stove top. X

I moved to ‘my’ dream home 8 years ago and I’m still pinching myself. It means so much and I know you will and do feel the same. Such a great accomplishment when you have a goal and save for it!
It is a huge effort mentally and physically moving, but when you move in the joy of working on your home is immense, costly, but so satisfying because it is your own home, Happy Times.

Hi Luke, congratulations on your new house, loving watching your moving vlogs. Just a suggestion check the air bricks at the back of your house to make sure that none are broken. We had a broken airbrick on our house last year that we hadn't noticed and a fox got in and gave birth under our house. The next couple of months are when the vixens go out and get pregnant and look for a nice warm home to give birth and you seriously don't want that happening under your new home, apart from the noise they make, its the smell that comes up through the gaps in the floor. Another suggestion is if the airbricks are all okay buy some airbrick covers to put over them, they don't cost much and allow the air to circulate under the floor but stop any mice getting in xx
Luke if you not used your washing machine yet l suggest that you put dishwasher tablet inside trum put it on very hot wash it will kill anything inside washing machine hope you both settle into your new home
You made me cry Luke, never apologise for being emotional. There is always a couple of bits to sort when moving into a new home.
When we bought our house, first thing was to rip out kitchen as the existing one had wood worm and was falling apart! We prioritised everything that needed doing so do what’s important first and the rest will happen ❤

great vlog Luke's raw version, it's ok for you to feel the way you do you have waited for this so long, and now it's happened the house is lovely by the way and it will be interesting to see how you and Zara make it your own. love the piano you always get teething problems with a Victorian home, you could possibly think in time about an island that would give you more cupboard/draw space/ i would strongly suggest you get some mouse destroyers that chew at the wood. and make a mess. They can be so distructive. i live in the countryside we get them they are a real pain. Love to you both Julie xxx

I have hard wired fire alarms and that beeping never goes away. We had them replaced thinking they were faulty…nope. We unhooked them and replaced them with battery operated ones. You two are making amazing progress! I can’t wait to see it all finished ❤️
Wow I am exhausted! Brings back memories of 5 years ago moved out put everything in Storage 10 month (living with daughter) moved and travel 25 miles to storage over 2 weeks and moved in to a 2 bed bungalow from three double bedded one! You did a great job as for that leak you will get it sorted I am sure x

You're absolutely right to hang fire on the tiles right now, live with the old ones for now. Get your stuff into the house. Figure out any problems like the smelly carpets and the leak and the dishwasher. Then once you've finished reeling from fixing all that stuff, start thinking about the non-essentials. Also if you live in a house for a while it'll speak to you and tell you what would work well. Think of all the time you've spent in rented flats daydreaming about what you'd do to make the place perfect if you didn't have to get the landlord's permission . You now get to spend time sitting in your own house daydreaming like that and once you've perfected the daydream you get to work out how to actually make it happen!
Looking forward to each of these vlogs - I moved into my house over 2 yes ago and It is emotional. Excited for you both and looking forward to see all of the personal touch as you do to make it your own it takes time enjoy the process things will get done
