I promised my granddaughter I would take her to Paris when she turned sixteen. We are here.... before I left, I watched every les Frenchies video and made a list of restaurants. At first, my granddaughter moaned and complained as we searched for everything on my list.... but soon, she realized there was gold at the end of the rainbow. The first restaurant was Relais de l'entrecote for Steak and Frite. Hungry for more, she asked if we could watch the videos every night at our Airbnb.
Today, we had lunch at Bistrot de Paris.... She's funny...kept looking to see if you were eating there too. We had Cod, Ravioli and profiteroles grande... Expensive but worth every dime. Tomorrow we will go to Bouillon Pigalle. I'll probably be a bag lady by next year but the experience is priceless.

As a young Parisian i would recommend the restaurant Paloma in the 20th arrondissement, for a rather modern french cuisine. The meal menu is very cheap (15€) for very good products. In the evening you can order plates to share, which are also very good. Thank you for your entertaining videos, your smiles are very communicative. Keep on!

I would like to give another tip. A real complete meal (apéro + entrée + plat de résistance + fromage/dessert + café) is not the typical Parisian workday lunch, except if it is a professional lunch, or maybe a friday lunch. This kind of epicurious meal is more for dinners. On workdays Parisians (excluding students and working poors) maybe will take only an entrée or a plat de résistance. A few entrées are really nutricious (céleri rémoulade, salade au fromage de chèvre, salade landaise, assiette de charcuterie, tête de veau, and so on) and with bread can easily be a very satisfying lunch, that allows to go back to work for the afternoon. Or they take only the main course, then a coffee, and that's all. As a tourist in Paris I would do the same, I mean not having a full french meal on lunchtime, so that during the afternoon you can have a pastry or two!

Je comprend. But I disagree. It depends on what your schedule is made off. I work freelance on my computer and though can spend 2 or 3 hours 'lunching' along with friends but only if I can finish the job late in the evening. On the other hand, you're right, we usually have a light lunch and stress on evening food.

Ate at Savy today per your recommendation. Maybe because I was eating alone I had a completely different experience. They seated me in a very small corner with a velvet curtain behind me where there was a storage room and the waiters station was directly in front of me. I ordered escargot, the soup special, leek and potato. Both were absolutely tasteless. I then had a salad that was completely soggy. All three dishes were served at the same time. and none of the plates were cleared until I asked for the check. When they first brought me to this table I asked to sit somewhere else and they said they were completely full. I had made a reservation and when I left two tables were still empty and no one was ever seated there. I’ve dined at many restaurants in Paris and am always. extremely polite and respectful. I will never dine here again or recommend it to anyone. Btw this was a Monday in January so not a busy time either. Very disappointing - and I’ve had such great luck at all your other wonderful recommended restaurants.

Not a hater … but 2 boiled eggs and a bit of mayo hardly command a mention … unless you have been eating in a correctional facility for the last decade
The steamed single leak could be an alternative for €11 !
These are “staple “ of French cuisine , it’s not fine gastronomy , it’s probably good but it’s also €100 for two including a glass of picpoul de pinet ( it’s a plonker not a grand cru )
Generally speaking I find food in France way way overpriced for what’s on offer
If you wanna hit it well , scoure the land for a nice Michelin star , visit at lunch weekdays and pay about the same for way way better experience …. There’s only so much you can boast about a well executed mayo

    • @andrearibi932

@@LesFrenchiesTravel no no , I get the atmosphere and the fact that only Parisian go there ( hard being in st Germain ! )
I had a restaurant in the nineties and won an award , we get simplicity alright ! But i have grown disillusioned with food in mégapoles , paris in general , prices have sky rocketed for most small eateries ( super high cost of operation ) so the best one can get is super simple dishes for premium prices it seems
I like the channel though so well done

Thank you for allowing me to travel with you. Your food videos bring back memories. Let me explain. I was a 13yr old Auckland, New Zealand boy working to save money for a Jamboree in Australia. I got a job at a local restaurant in Glendowie where i lived, 1 night a week washing dishes. This turned out to 2 then 3 then 5 nights a week. I must have been good!!!!! No silly. The boss was a ba..t..rd
I was still at school remember. Many a time I ended up cooking!!! that's another story.
When you show yourselves eating snails it reminds me of then. We were a bit up market for the area, however, the silver trays and clutches that accompanied the snails were exactly the same.
    Some things haven't changed
We would get the French snail shells in wooden boxes packed in straw or wooden shavings I cannot remember. The French snails came in a very large tin of glutinous yuck. I was a boy bought up on the basic food items. To see these snails and having to clean and prepare was another thing. What the hell were people eating, something we got rid of out of the garden.
To prepare them I had to place garlic butter in the shell, the snail had to be put in with the tail out and then more garlic butter. Simply revolting. Give me sausages, lamb, mash and veges. Even a packet of chips and a coke would be better than this.
The chef would say I always had to try one. NO WAY. Until he cooked 1 to many 1 night. Or did he on purpose. I was 13 and I tried a snail. Actually I tried 6. My heart beat faster than ever, my hand shook and I slipped this "thing" in my mouth, only to turn around (and not to rush to the toilet) and say, 'that's not bad'. It was quite some years later I enjoyed snails, while my friends said I was crazy.
    Expensive little buggers however.
Thank you for allowing me to experience France as if I was there. Merci.

It's true! That's the first thing all lovers of food ask when travelling in foreign lands: where do the locals eat? Especially important when in Far East Asia and places like that. The Chinese food in most countries outside of China is baffling nonsense and most definitely NOT Chinese food. I learned this during my early years noodling around on the internet and finally watching authentic Chinese dishes being cooked. I'd salivate with curiosity, wondering where on Earth I could eat this unbelievably delicious looking food. Still in 2022 it's difficult to answer that question here in England. What is it with authentic regional Chinese dishes refusing to become popularised in the West? A great mystery. Thank you for this video, I hope you'll do a part 2 of this!!

I am travelling to Paris in October and can’t wait to try all the amazing places you recommend.
I ate at Les Cocottes when I came to Paris several years ago and loved it, so glad to hear it is still amazing. I will definitely be eating there again.

Bonjour Les Frenchies. Love your videos. We are finishing up a month in Paris (from the US Virgin Islands) and ate lunch at Chez Rene. It was great. We didn't have a reservation but they were nice enough to seat us outside without to much fuss. We usually like to eat a nice lunch and then ease up for dinner with street food or salads at apt. The waiter was great and once he heard our so so french he eagerly helped us out in English. He was very professional and very nice. I had the Escargot and Beof Bourguigon and my wife had Ouef dur Mayonnaise and the Tartare Beof. The Escargo was large and tasty. Probavy one of the best I've had in Paris. The Bourguigion was tasty and a hugh portion. It's easily enough to feed 2 people. My wife loved the Ouef dur Mayonnaise and the Tartare Boef was the most spiced up one we've had in Paris. Very good. For dessert we sharded the the Ile Flottante. It was so good (we tried hard to finish it off but just to much.) You were spot on with your recommendation with Chez Rene. And I believe we were the only tourist there. Merci !
