      How do you rate a restaurant with just eating dessert or, just a cup of hot chocolate???? Seriously?? Not a true review as far as I'm concerned.

      You don t seem very knowledgeable about food. The first dessert you had is called cafe gournmand and is available everywhere.
      What you had at Le Procope is Paana Cotta, an Italian classic recognisable by everyone in Europe.

    I’m a flight attendant and in Paris nearly every week - Jacobine was a favorite 10 or more years ago but it’s popularity has made it hard to get a table. My crew recently tried Brasserie Dubillot, and really enjoyed it. Milagro also hit the mark. Relais Entrecôte will however be a “crew” favorite forever!

    Guys, I am so so glad you posted this video yesterday. I am on a 4 day vacation in Paris and have been following just your videos since 1 month back to prepare myself. I can’t thank you enough already for giving such important and precise information about travelling and having the best experience in Paris. But your yesterday’s video gave me a wonderful option for Hot Chocolate. I was planning to go to Angelina for Hot Chocolate today and even went there, but saw the price and queue and quickly turned on my heels from there!! I went onto Carette and what an amazing Hot Chocolate I had here!! It’s my birthday today as well and I am here alone away from my family this time but roaming around on your suggestions and having a good time! Merci Beacoup for this! Mais quelle surprise !!! OMG !!!

    Nice to know that Chartier has not changed much if at all and is still like I remember (an experience, food basic and hearty, and the essence of Old Paris still lingering while you watch the waiters writing up the tab on the paper tablecloth. Sharing a table with strangers was another fun thing back then. A young student told us how to put our valuables in the top of our socks.

    We walked past La Jacobine a few weeks ago and saw it was packed. It looked like a fun place. There are 2 places we almost always eat at in Paris. 1) My emotional favorite - Aux Trois Malletz on Rue Gallande in the Latin Quarter. Honestly, the food is probably middling but the atmosphere, with its live Chanson music, is fantastic. Sometimes, I just hang out there with a beer and listen to the music. 2) Fish la Boissonnerie in San Germaine around the corner from Rue Buci. They specialize in seafood, and it has always been excellent. Nice service. BTW: the name is a pun on "poissonnerie" (fishmonger) substituting boisson (drink) since it is also a drinking establishment.

    I ate dinner tonight at La Jacobine. It was as good as you say. My filet mignon of pork with mustard sauce was amazing. The appetizer of pork pate was great. Instead of a dessert, I had the cheese plate. That was because they were out of cream puffs. The waiters were friendly. It is difficult to make a reservation. I stopped by the restaurant last night at 7:00 p.m. to make the reservation for tonight. This is the second recommendation from your guide that I used. Both were delicious.

    Thank you, Les Frenchies, for all your tips. In Paris right now and almost every dinner restaurant, they asked how much we want to tip when we pay with a CC. When I say isn't service included? They look confused since I don't speak French, but when I ask with Google translator, they say yes and charge me the bill price. When they don't ask and it's good service I give a few extra euros. Thank you guys again for all the info

    I agree with all of your reviews of the places I have tried so far. I have never been to Carette, Pink Mama or La Jacobine, so 3 good reasons to go back! I always have a great experience at Georges at the top of the Pompidou Center, Miznon is a great alternative to La Falafel and Frenchie with several locations was also very good!

    Great stuff guys, I love your work. Personally I was surprised our favourite wasn't on your list (good or bad). We always go to Au Pied de Cochon Brasserie, food is authentic, prices are reasonable, decor charming, and it opened the year I was born (1947).
    Now for a little secret, just at the end of the street of the apartment we last stayed in, one guy cooking and serving brilliant food on his own: "Le 46" at 46 Rue Falguière.

    Try the Wepler in Montmarte,bang opposite the Place Clichy metro .You'll love the oysters,art deco ambience and fine traditional French food at reasonable cost too. Over 130 years old,the likes of Picasso,Modigliani,Henry Miller and many other famous personalities have eined and dined there. One of my favourite haunts.

    Thanks for recommending Le Jacobine. We had the best French meal there when we visited Paris. Good service, friendly staff and reasonably priced as well. We had to wait long to be seated though, even with a reservation.

    My wife and I spent 10 days in Paris in June and we visited Le Procope and my experience was quite the opposite. I had the tenderloin and foie Gras and my wife had the sea bream and I thought they were both fantastic. The service and ambience was very good. It is a bit touristy but seeing Napoleon’s was pretty cool!

    Hi les frenchies I had the pleasure of visiting Paris last June and it surpassed my expectations and I’m planning to visit next summer. Your videos were a great help. I tried Las de falafel and it was mediocre for a guy from the middle east with high frame of reference for falafel.
    I’d love if you make a video about halal food in Paris like best places to eat or ranking.
    Much Love

      As du Falafel doesn't deserve the notoriety, it's way over-hyped. We found mid-eastern food jewels all over Paris. One on Rue Mouffetard is awesome.

    Another great idea for a video. I'm sure the hardest part was narrowing down your list. We make a point of stopping in at Les Deux Magots one sunny morning per trip for an omelet and glass of champagne (we're on vacation!). It's all about the people watching. But we know there are much better meal options. We'll be in Paris again the last ten days in March and will definitely have a meal at la Jacobine, finally.

      My parents and I went to Deux Magots years ago. We went because:
      1. We chanced upon it while walking along St Germain.
      2. It is historic.
      3. It is a great location for people watching.
      We had a light lunch and coffee and it was fine. The waiter was okay, too. It helped that my Mom is French Canadian. I noticed while in France that French nationals really like talking to French Canadians!

    I love watching food reviews but they are tricky. Whether you appreciate the experience or not depends on many different factors. Your criteria of course but for me, the service, the ambiance and your mood of the moment are also important.

    • @arborealscout4252
      @arborealscout4252 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! And no! LOL... These folks also aren't experts. Their viewpoints are certainly valid and to be appreciated (so thank you!), but how can you review a falafel restaurant when you've never even eaten it and don't know what it is? Hint, hushpuppies (deep fried dough balls) made with chickpea flour, made many dozens of ways, just like tabouleh you see in restaurants.... But the average of reviews don't support the falafel place you've recommended over this. By A LOT. How can you go to Angelina and not know they invented the Mont Blanc - and not order it? And snark about a 120 y.o. historic architecture and design for not having been updated? That's largely why it's famous - it was a fancy tearoom for ladies. How can you review a full restaurant only having ordered dessert? That's ridiculous. If readers look at the average reviews / scores of most of these places, the average score differs. Which also brings the points that a) take all reviews with a grain of salt! Do the best you can to get them from someone who has same taste / values you do. b) there are a lot of mediocre restaurants, or mediocre choices in good restaurants, even in Paris! c) any day can bring a bad experience with any given place or its staff, and d) service ratings should be separated from the food ratings, but they aren't :(. Also, market researchers know that people are many times more likely to make the effort to make a bad review than a good one. And when you read them you see that many if not most of bad reviews have to do with service, not food, and most, not all, are from foreign tourists. e) what les Frenchies may have forgotten, is that the decor and or history of a place, in a few cases, is worth the price of admission, if you appreciate history, design, and or achitecture - some of these places are literally institutions, though the food quality may not be great. Just do your research (don't rely on one or two reviews) and act accordingly - go to the historic places knowing and appreciating the history, and buy something inexpensive so you don't feel ripped off. If you're only into food and not total experience, that's fine too, but these and most reviews aren't of those (fine dining) restaurants anyway.

      @arborealscout4252 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, in reply to comments about cattle prods and too close tables... If you go in warm months / summer, or dead center of meal times, or on weekends, this is the experience you should expect, just like with any other desirable restaurants anywhere. That's why every guide recommends visiting in the shoulder seasons or winter. And even then you have to be strategic on timing if you want to avoid crowds.

    Les Frenchies, I am a huge fan of your videos and posts. I am also a huge fan of Rick Steves (there’s a connection to this). I’ve done 2 of his tours and used his guides to travel solo in 16 European countries. So, I value great content; his and yours. One thing I love is that Rick Steves has a Facebook account where he places his posts that is totally separate from the Rick Steves travel group posts. It allows one to follow him without having to wade through all the questions and general comment posts. His account does allow comments, but they are related to the topic he introduced, and does have a monitor who occasionally responds. Maybe, you’ll consider this format? I appreciate your work. Thank you.

    I actually did the jazz hands at the same time Antoine did!! 🤣🤣
    There was a restaurant on Avenue du Maine called Chez Rafaello when we went to Paris for our honeymoon in 2007. Friendly staff, excellent food and the owner was a Quebecer from Laval, across the rivière des Prairies from Montreal. The waitress recognized our Québecois accent and introduced us to the owner, who offered us a digestif on the house that evening, and every time we went to have dinner there after that. I was heartbroken when I saw they had closed before going for our trip last summer.

    Years ago, my dad and I had dinner at Lasserre when it had 3 Michelin stars. The service, the food, the wine... incroyable! Unfortunately, it appears that they are down to 1 star since then, but the reviews are great (and one Michelin star is nothing to discount). I would imagine it is still quite a lovely experience to dine there. My husband and I will be visiting Paris for a couple of days next fall, on our way to the Loire Valley. I so enjoy your channel and look forward to checking out a couple of your suggestions! Merci beaucoup!

    You two are so cute together! I was pleased to see that the steak came with Antoine's pasta dish at Pink Mamma!
    We had a great anniversary dinner at Chez Delphine in the 10th between Saint-Georges and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette metro stations! The servers were so nice and spoke excellent English. The food was amazing including the escargot, charcuterie plate, salmon, beef and probably the best cheesecake we've ever had.
    We were a bit disappointed with Le Loubnane in the 5th close to Sorbonne. Service was sub-par. The food wasn't too bad but we've had better at a local Turkish restaurant (Pasha) where we live in Ohio.
