Love my Duro, it's been a daily for over 3yrs.
I'm VERY hard on watches, have NO scratches on the crystal. Although I bang mine almost daily on metal monos and shelving, and the mineral crystal is just fine. A few scratches and a little ding on the aluminum insert, with minimal scratching on the case(not really noticeable).
I've spent more on straps then on the watch and Love it... Spends most of its time on a StrapCode 22mm Super-J Louis JUB Watch Band Straight End, 316L Stainless Steel Solid V-Clasp Button Double Lock.

Steeldive 1970 Capt Willard homage.. Seiko NH34 movement, ssphire crystal, ceramic bezel 200 meters of warter resistance not to mention the improved bracelet with solid end links and milled clasp. I paid around $60 and it was one of the real bargains of my collection.

For the price - yes, indeed. Very comfortable case, but indices and hands could use some improvement, and I'm not talking about the lume only. The bundled resin strap goes straight into the bin, so be sure to arrange an alternative upon the purchase.

I own some very nice and expensive watches and when I travel and I travel alot I always take two watches and the one I always end up wearing is my Casio 5610 U even in more formal situations , it always makes me think of all the money I have spent on all the other watches I own 😮 the 5610 U is like Kryptonite to watch snobs and I wear it proudly

The bracelet and clast isn't great, but after replacing it with a MiLTAT bracelet with solid endlinks and milled clasp, that problem is solved. Bezel doesn't off much grip though, too polished. G Shock- most wouldn't argue about your choice of 5610u, and it is a cracking g-shock, a square being the most iconic design.
However imho (owner of 5000u, 5610u, 5600, 2 casioaks) the G-shock to rule them all is the updated 6900. The one with solar. This has everything you need, whilst not over doing it, yet keeping the hard as nails iconic look.
On a side note we need a 5600ue review please 🙏

    Great video and good choices.
I’d sneak in the Casio SGW100 also. Under $50 usd. It has so many functions like compass and thermometer, plus does everything the 5610u does, minus solar and multi band.
    It’s neat.
But that 3 watch set of Casio 5610u, Seiko 5 and orient is hard to beat.

For around the same price you can get the SNKL23 (or SNKL15 for the white dial). Same 7S26 movement, but a much better case which sits flat on the wrist, mixed brushed and polished finishing on the case and bracelet and a textured dial. I have one and love it.

I owned a Swatch Jellyfish (ancestor of that watch) when I was 10 back in the late 80s and I thought it was very cool. Good shout on the Armitron I'm buying one of those immediately! ❤

    That Lorus looks sweet.
I love this brand, my father started my watch journey by tricking me into thinking about it, seeing it first in an old shop with all that build up and excitment, to learn to give time before a purchase, see if sticks in the mind, and we went back together for it and he actually bought it for me :)
He had Cartier, Omega and so on but wanted me not to be careless about my money and to learn that patience is a key component to pleasure.
    And I still got it!

    Love orient….. wanderfull quality.
This 1953 invicta looks intresting!!! Lorus was a bew secret on the market: they make the old seikos movment and designs. With a new name… i think this is good because the seikos 5 are expansive for the beginning of the journey. Greetings from austria. Love your videos 👍🏻

The Orient Ray 2 was my first mechanical watch. It was a great looking watch. But there were two things about it that I hated - the bezel and the crown. Bezel was tight and stingy. And the crown was teeny. The next watch I went to was a Seiko 5kx. What a difference in both the bezel and crown.

Having been a G Shocker for as long as I can remember, I decided to try a divers watch. Ended up getting a Duro. My next choice would have been an orient kamasu. My grail is a mudmaster gwg-b1000, but it's insane money for a digital watch, I like the style. I just dont need all the features.

I love my GBD-200. The only thing I wish it had was an altimeter. I’m not fussed about heart monitors, but I like a walk/hike and I love being able to see how many miles I’ve done and how high I’ve climbed. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions? (Basically after a GBD-200 with an altimeter)

Inherited an Elgin Steel Automatic diver style watch (only 30m 🙄) from my dad. Wore it for a while and it kept great time. Still does too! Has a see through case back. I noticed the numbers imprinted on the rotor and they were Y676. After researching this movement, I realized I was the proud owner of a Seiko. Thanks for giving props to the ol’ Y676!

Gshock MTG M900, £95 via Amazon US. Multiband 6, Tough Solar, large digit display and stainless steel elements including the bracelet. Early 2000s design so not massive and a great alternative to the boring squares.

The Q Timex definitely looks good. I have it, and it's a nice summer watch, but it has two problems. #1: the minute and second hand are not hitting the marks properly (my Casio Edifice does that perfectly for the same price), so when it shows 60 seconds the minute hand can be right between two markers, and Timex allows that in the manual. There's no way to fix that. I wish they used a slightly better movement. #2: the bracelet is a hair puller, especially when it's new and stiff, though it gets a little better over time.

Good list, although I would take an Invicta Pro Diver over the 1953 which seemed weirdly oversized and way too thick to me. I really wish we had Lorus here in the US.

That 12-hour bezel on the Timex deserves more credit. It's way more intuitive to use than a 24hr bezel-and-hand setup, as long as you know the timezone you're tracking is ahead or behind.

The caliber Y676 movement in that Lorus is actually a Seiko movement rather than being based on one. 😊 It comes from the Seiko Instruments Inc (SII) arm of the corporation that sells movements to third party manufacturers. Just like the NH36 is SII's designation for the relabeled 4r36 they're selling to other companies the Y676 was the designation used for the 7s26 in their own sub-brands that offer/offered mechanical options.... Lorus, Alba, J Springs...
Great recommendations to get a freshly-minted watch enthusiast started on their collecting journey for cheap! Bangers, all. Top shelf stuff. 💪
