- I'm back on a mountain bike for 2023!
This year I will be riding a @Lapierrebikes Zesty AM 8.9, I decided to choose the Zesty over the Spicy because I feel it will allow me to ride more of what I want to ride. This year I have a few Western Bike Races booked in but I also want to do some big days out, as well as some hike-a-bike days around Wales.
I decided to go to BikePark Wales to dial the Zesty A.M 8.9 in, the park was the perfect amount of variation of climbs and trails to set-up and find out what this bike is really capable of.
After 4,500ft of elevation and multiple trails ridden, this bike is absolutely perfect for Blue, Red and the easier black trails at BikePark Wales. If you want to ride DH trails & Uplifts every weekend, the Lapierre Spicy is probably your better option. But, with a few tweaks to the suspension this will be the perfect bike for me this year!
Let me know what you want to see me do on the 2023 Lapierre Zesty!

Oh man, that looked so much fun. Great vid, lovely bike. 👌🏽
But different to the Zwift Team Time trials 😂💪🏻
Hi, looking at a Zesty / Spicy, is there a big weight difference / climbing advantage that would make you choose one over the other? Most of my riding involves the climb, just a few uplift days here and there! You seem to be theronly source of knowledge I can find on these bikes!
Nice video! 🎉
Cheers Josh 💪🏻
Nice shreddin' bro!
Cheers dude, I will get you out this year! 🙌🏻
Great vid and some honest advice 👊💪
Really nice place to ride 🤘! I'm looking to maybe buy this bike.. (I have a 2015 Genius 740, yeah old one) There isn't so much review on these Lapierre. Maybe yours it's almost the only one. Thumbs up for the IronMan also, you're mad 🤪. Cheers from Switzerland. Good video.
Cheers dude!
I know, I’m really surprised that there isn’t many reviews. The new models (like mine) have only just landed in the UK so there may be more.
Bike is perfect if you want the best of both worlds, climbing and descending is great. Go for the Spicy if you are going to go more chairlift days in Switzerland 😄
Happy riding!
How’s this bike going? What’s the longest peddling day you have done? How does it climb?
Hey!
Longest day is about 38km with about 5,000ft around cwmcarn area, all natural trails.
Climbs very very well, but still slack enough to take on most red and black trails. If you want to do big DH tracks you will have to go for the spicy. The carbon wheels help with the weight.
Hey are you still riding this bike? Yours is like the only uk review of it! I saw one in my local bike shop for sale at £2100 and was tempted. Be good to hear if you're still using it and how ots performed. Im currently riding a trek fuel ex 8 from 2018.
Hey! Yep still got it! Perfect all-mountain bike that’s for sure…I wouod say that’s a bargain!
Do they come with a UDH? Still very tempted but not yet taken the plunge 🙈
@@rachaelscarfe8050 This one has Shimano so I’m unsure, only SRAM have the UDH I believe
Hi Lewis, finally bit the
bullet and picked up a 7.9 (no fancy kashima unfortunately!) for £1700, couldn't say no at that, comes today, can't wait, thanks for your vid.
@@rachaelscarfe8050 is that from paul cycles?
Hey mate how tall are you and what size is this? I’m considering between medium and large as I’m right on 5’10”
I’m 5ft 6 - I recommend you go for a large
@@LewisfromTH-camwhat size do u use?
And we didn’t get a mention 😂
Took a video of you but you looked shattered 😂
@@LewisfromTH-cam that could have been anytime after the first uplift lol 😂
@@adamjames485 😂
What helmet are you wearing?
Hey Stu, it’s a Bluegrass Helmet 🪖
@@LewisfromTH-cam thank you mate
