Here is a small correction, it's not that he missed being in Korean varieties because of his solo work, but his contract to JYP when he started Team Wang was that he could not promote in Korea while he was promoting as a solo in China. So, all of his solo work in China none of it was promoted in Korea. It wasn't just because he was solo. It was because JYP prohibited it it
It could possibly be the other way around.....that when Team Wang promoted in China, China would not allow him to promote in Korea and Japan. Remember he had to stop promoting on the Japanese releases once he started solo in China?
What I knew was that if u aren't tied to a company in Korea, then u barely have a chance to promote urself in music shows. Bambam was lucky enough to have a company reach out to him, hence why he was able to have his own talk and drink show.. Jackson was an olympic level athlete before becoming an entertainer. He grew up with athlete parents. So his mindset is always to achieve his goals no matter what. The not good side of it is that he tends to put the goal above his well-being. It has less something to do with the “temptations”. Honestly, you don’t know that for sure as people show different sides of themselves to the public versus when they are in private. With depressed people, it is harder to tell as they can appear all happy but are miserable on the inside.

I know that Jackson has been expressing for a few years now how he's lonely and just doesn't feel like himself anymore. I really think he needs to take a step back from the industry, even if it's for a year and get the mental help that that he needs. It just feels like he's using music/alcohol as a way to isolate himself and it's really sad to see. I hope he gets the help that he needs and is able to reconnect with his friends.

Being known by so many people, being constantly watched, we weren’t designed for that… those of us just living plain Jane lives won’t understand how much fame affects a person’s psyche, but there have been studies on it. Add onto that all the touring and it makes it even harder to connect with people as you’re always tired and in different time zones from loved ones. And we know he really loves Team Wang, but Jackson’s also admitted so much stress comes from it because those people are relying on him to do well so they can support their families. At least as a K-pop group, he had other people to share that burden and the side effects of fame with. But as a solo act… So I think while therapy is definitely a great start, he ultimately needs to get to the root of the problem which is having an equal or 2 to rely on and a better work-life balance. When someone opens up abt their vulnerability & struggles, it is not for others to evaluate them or pass remarks. As humans, we have all felt lonely, lost or depressed at some points in our lives (if we’re truly honest w ourselves). Jackson just happened to be in a career where all the limelight is on him. Videos like this can appear to “wish him well” but the manner in which it is presented can be making a mountain out of molehill & magnifying something that is already being addressed. Let’s not forget, Jackson comes from a very loving & supportive family and has childhood friendships still going strong today. Love is definitely present in his life and love never fails. Jackson is rising ✨ and I’d even say he’s probably much healthier mentally than many of us - bcuz he has no fear of being vulnerable, being his true self; he dared to risk it all when he opened up & expose his raw self to the world. I feel like it's not 100% but it has gotten better now that he seems to be staying with his parents. I think this video is mainly outlining the timeline and not magnifying, as it mentions both sides of the arguments. I believe it's aimed towards I think newer fans or those who noticed the difference but were not as active. Yes, there is so much love for him even before he started his solo career - his family, his members, his team, his fans...remember, GOT7 since 2014. When he's around other people, he's fine. Since he did have his own place and live alone, it was during those times sometimes when he felt lonely, despite having so much love around him. And people talk about his problem with alcohol because he was promoting Hennessy on stage which he’s a brand ambassador of. You have no idea how much your other favourite musicians are drinking in private/ doing drugs. In Kinjaz episode he talks about how his image changed, but it’s his true art that he expresses. If you wish the best for the artist, just support them.
Mental health is so important. I have no job and no financial burdens but due to my sick habit of severe dieting I almost jump down a building in May 2021. If not for my sister who called the mental hospital to bring me in I think I would be dead someday that period of time. Hopefully Jackson takes a break and get therapy to feel better

It's not just the alcohol. I believe people truly don't understand what alcoholism is. Alcohol is a bandaid to the pain, guilt, or any negative emotions. It's not the alcohol entirely. He needs a comfort zone and us fans can't give that.
I agree and my late father was an alcoholic and passed as a result due to the liver disease he got from it. Alcoholism is a very bad condition and you need to seek treatment to get better. I hope he does not end up like my late dad.

He said he would quit drinking but never would. Sadly he paid for it with his life, but it was his choice. My father passed over 20 years now so I have tried to heal and hope you do too. He expressed several times how he got depressed when he left JYP and how lonely he feels when he gets home to the point he always leaves a light on so when he gets home it feels like someone is waiting for him. I think he is better now, but I don’t think he is that happy, he is overworked and lost a lot of weight. I think he needs some rest and be around family and friends

I know of many individuals working in high stress environment and looking for an outlet (both healthy and unhealthy) is not unusual. The fact that Jackson has admitted to it and his awareness of the problems and making it an open statement to gain awareness is what I consider commendable. He’s supporting and not villainizing mental health issues. So why are ppl turning this into a Jackson issue? Also, he is a celeb and gets noticed for everything. The times we see him partying is probably as much as the next person or less. Consuming alcohol while having fun is likely expected. He probably spends more time traveling, preparing for shows or cooking music and no one counts how many days he’s not out in the public eye.

I have seen the effects of it up close. I'm safe, the person was arrested and sent back home to California (I'm in Illinois).

Honestly, Jackson hasn't changed at all. That's just his public persona now, _outside of Korea._ BamBam said it himself, that whenever they're alone, he's the same Jackson. It's only when he's out in public, again outside of Korea, he never smiles and looks serious. But, in Korea, when you watch him on 'Gym Jong Kook', he's the same Jackson we all know. And that was only a year and some months ago. Or, watch the 'GOT7 Naver Radio Live', it's the same Jackson.
I feel he is just going through a face, everyone goes through in life..... But i hope he has friends around him that can give him the support and care he needs.
if anyone knows anything about alcoholism, it’s that people who can drink a lot and not get drunk are more at risk than lightweight drinkers. it’s because they have to drink so much to have it affect them, and so before you know it it becomes a problem. i’m really worried for jackson. i’m not an ahgase persay but loved watching him on variety shows when i was younger. hope he can find the right professional to guide him and treat his addiction.
Many people love alcohol. I am one of them, but even I know my limits. I'm sure he knows his limits. Also we don't have confirmation that there was alcohol in the bottle. I saw him when he came to NY. Performing especially touring is really hard and I wonder if people know just how exhausting it is. I did one tour in my late 20's and not only was it physically exhausting but mentally as well. And that was for a kids show. I can't even imagine when it's your own show with so many people depending on you. All I wish for Jackson is that he finds his moments of peace and surrounds himself with good people who care about the person not the product. I still want to meet him just to give him a hug to give him a few seconds of calm.

In-person, Jackson radiates health and energy like no one else I've ever met. I'm tired of every influencer trying to capitalize on "What happened to Jackson Wang?" it's getting old. The performers who are silently acting like they are okay to cover their struggles are the ones to worry about. If Jackson goes down, he'll go down in a brilliant way and then pick himself up and do something else he loves. Trust him and give him credit for his amazing resilience. He is a very self-aware performer who acknowledges his limitations.
Im the same year as Jackson so i think i can understand him. I was one step away to accomplish my dream, failed and went into despression with suicide thoughts. Started to drink despite being anti-alcoholic and hated on everyone. For Jackson it mustve been 10x worse as a kpop trainee who went through hell.
I feel like Jackson in general needs to go on a hiatus as well as get official and practical therapy. He has passion for music and artistic value. However, I would still like him to prioritise his health more.

It might be because he wants to fit in chineese industry which is way more strict than kpop in term of physical appearence and behaviouf i would say, even for male artist. Even if he tend to target a large public in international market, he is based in china and probably need to adjust his image and leave behind his funny and bubbly side. i've always worried abt jackson because his goal was to be a global star. when he was younger, i think this seemed more possible esp because of the state of global politics. during the 2008 beijing olympics china showed itself as a "new china" open to the world and embracing change and diversity. this must have been so moving for him, as an aspiring olympic athlete from hong kong. for awhile, china was also one of the biggest markets for kpop idols. but during his career china gradually shifted away from this policy of openness, and now there was an expectation of exclusivity and loyalty to the country. korean idols were no longer allowed to promote in china and promoting in china meant you couldn't easily promote anywhere else. i think jackson is caught between a rock and a hard place, where his dream to be a "global star" in the way he envisioned it is no longer possible. all this on top of the other issues with mental health that celebrities deal with must be really awful. i think he's tried to pivot away from his global star goal-- now he is more focused on artistic integrity and self-expression, but that is its own issue in a world that values marketability over individuality!
At the New York concert in 2016, Jackson and BamBam noticed my boyfriend and I in the audience and gave us a shout out. They remembered us at the hi-touch after. It makes me so sad to hear that he feels so alone. Jackson makes you feel like you are the most important person in the room, even if you’re just meeting him for a second. I'm not against his artistic venture and exploring new things but in that due course he should take care of his mental health. What good is fame when you are not happy with yourself. Remember that he said he had to stop doing varieties because some people would tend to see him more as a comedian and to him, that hurt his main job, as a singer/rapper. I can only deduce that his image change is because of that. Plus the fact that he is the founder of Team Wang and the co-founder of Ryce, and he also manages these companies…image change was more for business reason, not for anything else.
Jackson wanted to share his real and deep feelings, and what do people do? They label him as an alcoholic, depressive, saying they miss the old guy, etc. This is why he will hide and conceal his feelings due to negative and prejudiced comments. Everyone goes through beautiful moments and difficult ones. If you are real fans, at least play his songs and subscribe to his social networks.

Jackson is an HSP. HSP is gentle, deep,emotional. The standard that society restricts HSP male so much. Through out history, there are many HSP male artist, who use their sensitivety to express their struggle. It reminds me of several Western artists and actors who started very young in the industry and did similar things when they were young adults about 10 years ago. They seem to turn out all right though some do have lasting effects from their actions.

Here is a small correction, it's not that he missed being in Korean varieties because of his solo work, but his contract to JYP when he started Team Wang was that he could not promote in Korea while he was promoting as a solo in China. I know that Jackson has been expressing for a few years now how he's lonely and just doesn't feel like himself anymore. I really think he needs to take a step back from the industry, even if it's for a year and get the mental help that that he needs. It just feels like he's using music/alcohol as a way to isolate himself and it's really sad to see. I hope he gets the help that he needs and is able to reconnect with his friends.

So I think while therapy is definitely a great start, he ultimately needs to get to the root of the problem which is having an equal or 2 to rely on and a better work-life balance. When someone opens up abt their vulnerability & struggles, it is not for others to evaluate them or pass remarks. As humans, we have all felt lonely, lost or depressed at some points in our lives (if we’re truly honest w ourselves). Jackson just happened to be in a career where all the limelight is on him. Videos like this can appear to “wish him well” but the manner in which it is presented can be making a mountain out of molehill & magnifying something that is already being addressed. Let’s not forget, Jackson comes from a very loving & supportive family and has childhood friendships still going strong today. Love is definitely present in his life and love never fails.
Jackson is rising ✨ and I’d even say he’s probably much healthier mentally than many of us - bcuz he has no fear of being vulnerable, being his true self; he dared to risk it all when he opened up & expose his raw self to the world. Yes, there is so much love for him even before he started his solo career - his family, his members, his team, his fans...remember, GOT7 since 2014. When he's around other people, he's fine. Since he did have his own place and live alone, it was during those times sometimes when he felt lonely, despite having so much love around him. He does show it, but he still has those moments - you could tell from his Twitter posts. The best we can do is continue to love him, support him, and encourage him like he encourages us.

And people talk about his problem with alcohol because he was promoting Hennessy on stage which he’s a brand ambassador of. You have no idea how much your other favourite musicians are drinking in private/ doing drugs. In Kinjaz episode he talks about how his image changed, but it’s his true art that he expresses. If you wish the best for the artist, just support them.

Mental health is so important. I have no job and no financial burdens but due to my sick habit of severe dieting I almost jump down a building in May 2021. If not for my sister who called the mental hospital to bring me in I think I would be dead someday that period of time. Hopefully Jackson takes a break and get therapy to feel better

It's not just the alcohol. I believe people truly don't understand what alcoholism is. Alcohol is a bandaid to the pain, guilt, or any negative emotions. It's not the alcohol entirely. He needs a comfort zone and us fans can't give that.
I agree and my late father was an alcoholic and passed as a result due to the liver disease he got from it. Alcoholism is a very bad condition and you need to seek treatment to get better. I hope he does not end up like my late dad.

He said he would quit drinking but never would. Sadly he paid for it with his life, but it was his choice. My father passed over 20 years now so I have tried to heal and hope you do too. I know of many individuals working in high stress environment and looking for an outlet (both healthy and unhealthy) is not unusual. The fact that Jackson has admitted to it and his awareness of the problems and making it an open statement to gain awareness is what I consider commendable. He’s supporting and not villainizing mental health issues. So why are ppl turning this into a Jackson issue? Also, he is a celeb and gets noticed for everything. The times we see him partying is probably as much as the next person or less. Consuming alcohol while having fun is likely expected. He probably spends more time traveling, preparing for shows or cooking music and no one counts how many days he’s not out in the public eye.
I love that he is doing better now. And Magic Man was absolutely amazing. It's been joyful to watch someone be authentic, creative AF and not full of themselves.

I have seen the effects of it up close. I'm safe, the person was arrested and sent back home to California (I'm in Illinois).

I also think that people easily jump to conclusions after he opens up about himself, which is sad. It's sad because he seems to want to be a "real" person, too, not just a singer/performer. if anyone knows anything about alcoholism, it’s that people who can drink a lot and not get drunk are more at risk than lightweight drinkers. it’s because they have to drink so much to have it affect them, and so before you know it it becomes a problem. i’m really worried for jackson. i’m not an ahgase persay but loved watching him on variety shows when i was younger. hope he can find the right professional to guide him and treat his addiction.

Many people love alcohol. I am one of them, but even I know my limits. I'm sure he knows his limits. Also we don't have confirmation that there was alcohol in the bottle. I saw him when he came to NY. Performing especially touring is really hard and I wonder if people know just how exhausting it is. I did one tour in my late 20's and not only was it physically exhausting but mentally as well. And that was for a kids show. I can't even imagine when it's your own show with so many people depending on you. All I wish for Jackson is that he finds his moments of peace and surrounds himself with good people who care about the person not the product. I still want to meet him just to give him a hug to give him a few seconds of calm.

Im the same year as Jackson so i think i can understand him. I was one step away to accomplish my dream, failed and went into despression with suicide thoughts. Started to drink despite being anti-alcoholic and hated on everyone. For Jackson it mustve been 10x worse as a kpop trainee who went through hell.
I feel like Jackson in general needs to go on a hiatus as well as get official and practical therapy. He has passion for music and artistic value. However, I would still like him to prioritise his health more.

Regarding drinking and mental issue i hope it is getting better .
i've always worried abt jackson because his goal was to be a global star. when he was younger, i think this seemed more possible esp because of the state of global politics. during the 2008 beijing olympics china showed itself as a "new china" open to the world and embracing change and diversity. this must have been so moving for him, as an aspiring olympic athlete from hong kong. for awhile, china was also one of the biggest markets for kpop idols. but during his career china gradually shifted away from this policy of openness, and now there was an expectation of exclusivity and loyalty to the country. korean idols were no longer allowed to promote in china and promoting in china meant you couldn't easily promote anywhere else. i think jackson is caught between a rock and a hard place, where his dream to be a "global star" in the way he envisioned it is no longer possible. all this on top of the other issues with mental health that celebrities deal with must be really awful. i think he's tried to pivot away from his global star goal-- now he is more focused on artistic integrity and self-expression, but that is its own issue in a world that values marketability over individuality!

Just leave him be. Let him deal with his demons in his own way as not many celebrities let their true side out through his visions as he makes magic but what he got was a slap in the face and has left him feeling NUMB.
No one knows him better than himself and knows how to deal with what ever life throws his way but I really hope Alpha finds his Luna soon and they can both howl out loud to the moon and then help support him in his mission by sharing his vision.
Remember that he said he had to stop doing varieties because some people would tend to see him more as a comedian and to him, that hurt his main job, as a singer/rapper. I can only deduce that his image change is because of that. Plus the fact that he is the founder of Team Wang and the co-founder of Ryce, and he also manages these companies…image change was more for business reason, not for anything else.

Jackson wanted to share his real and deep feelings, and what do people do? They label him as an alcoholic, depressive, saying they miss the old guy, etc. This is why he will hide and conceal his feelings due to negative and prejudiced comments. Everyone goes through beautiful moments and difficult ones. If you are real fans, at least play his songs and subscribe to his social networks.
His honesty is why I love him ❤️ But it seems he's overwhelmed over worked. I wish him to be surrounded by people who love him and not just see what they can benefit from him. He's a grown man who needs a private life too. Not just idolize and not allowing him to be human to. I wish him success and happiness both privately and professional.
I think he’s fine. It’s just not the image that was managed by JYPE. It’s only “concerning” because he’s being open about it whereas some other KPOP celebrities don’t. And I’m sure his community and closet people will not let him “ruin himself”.
Jackson is an HSP. HSP is gentle, deep,emotional. The standard that society restricts HSP male so much. Through out history, there are many HSP male artist, who use their sensitivety to express their struggle. He must have felt always being judged, with no privacy, no freedom… esp in the Kpop industry and China, where keep the “right image” is important. Always positive, always bright, no alcohol, no smoking, no talking about politic, or HAVING TO TALK about it…Being a celebrity in Korean and China is not easy for an HSP man who want to be authentic. I hope he can find a solution.
It reminds me of several Western artists and actors who started very young in the industry and did similar things when they were young adults about 10 years ago. They seem to turn out all right though some do have lasting effects from their actions.
Bam Bam did not say anything bad. He is his friend and like his brother he knows him well. Any solo artist working on his own image is not comfortable with everyone except the people close to him, so stop creating hatred in the middle.
I think hes changed. He talks a lot about how hes lonely and wants to find somone. He says it so many times in diffrent ways its haed to miss. I think seperating and doing solo activities really took a tolebon him. Hes close to rhe age where he wants to be married. I hope he does that and slows down

I believe it's OK to be completely lost but also I don't think he need to push himself too much of trying to stay true to himself.
That's most practically quite impossible with the job as an artist much more given his root as an idol.

I hate when idols. Also get bad rap for making speeches about something like during their concert you pay money to see them perform but I have absolutely no problem. Just watching them speak to me because it’s a conversation especially when they’re getting real. He has every right to talk about where he’s from. He is not just Jackson Wang from GOT7. He is not just Jackson Wang from Korea. He’s not just Jackson Wang from China. He is Jackson Wang but he has absolutely right to sit there and speak about where he’s from where he resides and what is going on in his country because China is very beautiful, Chinese culture is very beautiful but with a lot that goes on it is not, but it is also OK to sit there and praise your homeland
