If you're DESPERATE to view the eclipse, and are willing to risk eye damage, you can view the eclipse by filling up a bucket of water and looking at the reflection from the sun in it. Doctors will beg you not to do this, but why wouldn't they? They're doctors. This is how I viewed the partial eclipse in 2017 while living in Ohio. My eyes are fine. This is better than nothing. It's an event that's so rare and majestic, I would risk it personally; just make sure you're aware of the risks.
