    Thank you for the video. I hadn’t gambled in many years before this year, but started up again recently on a Super Bowl bet. Won $700 and got up to over 3k but lost just about all of that except for a thousand dollars. I know in my mind I should just cash out the little money I have and take a little win, but part of he wants to keep chasing what I lost! I know this is a losing battle but the rush is like a drug. Pray for me! Hope I can overcome and quit cold turkey

      Quiting cold turkey is the hardest thing to do pal. Try this strategy instead. Before you get cash/money plan before on what you want to do first course it is not gambling. If you use a credit card before leaving plan what you want to purchase then have a close friend,companion and leave the card with them. Talk to people you trust that can help. For cash carry just enough to do your purchases and avoid purchasing things in the casinos or their vicinity. Finally find gambling niche is it gambling with cash or Internet banking whichever is your weakness have the money in the other form. Depression is less if you had a budget of £500 you carry £600 purchase items of £513 and lost to gambling £50.

    Just watched your whole video! I live in alaska and came home to visit my family. It all started in my late twenties when I went to Vegas . That was like 4 years ago. I got hooked. Joined the army. Saved money. Came home to literally spend all of my savings on gambiling. I haven’t told anyone but I really want to bc I feel depressed and sad. I have cancelled all my online gambiling sites as well tonight. I go back to my post in alaska and maybe it’s a good thing I am stationed somewhere where gambiling is illegal. I enjoyed your video . Although I will not stop my stock market , that is not fast losses like 1k a night at slot machines. Thank you!

    • @kungfu82able
      @kungfu82able 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, yes man...then effect on mental health is undeniable. I was in a deep spiral of depression. I actually saw my doctor and requested a prescription for Wellbutrin, as a friend of mine found it very helpful. I think that unwittingly led to me having a huge advantage on quitting the slot machines. The Wellbutrin helped keep my dopamine levels up, which i believe were constantly being depleted by slot machines. Dopamine is what your brain craves as the precursor to something good happening....as those reels spun and I hoped for a good outcome, I have no doubt that my dopamine stores were being drained. So, the first couple weeks didn't seem as hard as they had in the past on the multiple other occasions where i had tried to quit. Not saying everyone needs Wellbutrin to quit, but in my own experience, I believe it helped me immensely.

Addiction affects people from all walks of life, including those in positions of power, and it’s important to recognize that no one is immune to it. FINDING TRAUMA INFORMED THERAPISTS AND HELP IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE 😢😢😢😢CBT, DBT TOO 😢

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely understand your frustration-it can be incredibly difficult to find trauma-informed therapists or those who specialize in approaches like CBT and DBT, especially in certain areas. Access to the right kind of support is so important, yet the availability can feel really limited.
      One option might be looking into online therapy platforms, as they sometimes offer more access to specialists. Additionally, some therapists trained in trauma work may not advertise it clearly, so asking specific questions about their approach in an initial consultation can help you identify if they’re a good fit.
      If therapy isn’t accessible, there are also self-guided resources based on CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care that might be useful in the meantime. Please feel free my AI to search for them and to search for videos on the topic in the video library, too: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.
      Your persistence in seeking out the right kind of support shows how committed you are to your healing, and I hope you’re able to find what you need. Please hang in there-you deserve the help that works best for you.

    Is there any way to get free therapy for family affected by gambling

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Finding free therapy for families affected by gambling can be challenging, but there are resources available that can provide support. One of the primary resources for individuals with gambling disorders and their families is the 12-step program. Gamblers Anonymous offers support for those with gambling issues, and Gam-Anon is specifically designed for the loved ones of problem gamblers.
      In addition to these support groups, it's important to consider other community resources that may be available. United Way, for example, can provide information and referrals to local services that may offer free or low-cost therapy options. Additionally, some states have programs funded by the government or gambling revenue to provide assistance to individuals and families affected by gambling addiction.
      For legal issues that may arise due to gambling, such as unpaid taxes or potential theft, consulting with the local bar association can be beneficial. Many states require attorneys to take on a certain number of pro bono cases each year, and law schools often have legal clinics that can offer guidance.
      Therapeutic strategies like motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) are effective for treating gambling disorders and can be found in various treatment settings. While these may not always be free, sliding scale fees or pro bono services may be available for those who qualify.
      Family counseling can also be a valuable resource, helping families understand the addiction, address feelings of anger and resentment, and support the recovery process. Identifying the strengths and resources within the family can be a starting point for recovery and healing.
      Remember, while finding free therapy services can be difficult, there are support groups and community resources that can offer assistance. It's worth reaching out to local mental health clinics, non-profit organizations, and government programs to inquire about available services for families affected by gambling.

      @@DocSnipes She has been gambling as far as I could remember, over 45 years now. 45 years of lying, manipulation, using pity, "borrowing", etc, to get money, after which she always immediately gives back to the casino. When I was a child, she bankrupted our family from cashing out all credit cards, she even once made me borrow $300 money from a child friend of mine so she can gamble. She's dead broke of course, but keeps on gambling. She's divorced and non of her other 2 children want anything to do with her. I let her move in with me a few years ago out of pity, and hoping she's stopped. But nope, still same old degenerate gambler. I think she has ADHD, still I'm tired of it. WHAT IF SOMEONE IS WILLING TO LOOK AT THEIR BEHAVIOR AS A POSSIBLE ☺️💰🤑🎰💰🤑💰🤑💰🎰🎰🎰🎰,(*** ADDICTION, SINCE THEY R A ADDICT**)
    DOES THAT HELP ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a great sign when someone is willing to take an honest look at their behavior and consider whether it might be connected to addiction. Acknowledging the possibility is an important first step toward change. Being open to examining patterns and asking tough questions is often where real growth begins. For someone already in recovery, this kind of self-awareness can be a powerful tool in recognizing triggers or behaviors that could lead to relapse.
      If someone’s willing to explore their behavior through that lens, it can definitely help them better understand themselves and make more intentional choices moving forward. The willingness to be self-reflective and honest is a strength in itself and can be a key part of maintaining long-term recovery.

    Slot machines are a game of chance are they? I invest mere hope that this service is better intended than its ignorant, bizarrre research suggests.

      Slot machines, along with many other gambling games, indeed incorporate a significant element of chance. While some games may include aspects of skill, the chance is a pervasive component across all forms of gambling. It's important to recognize that gambling, particularly when used as a coping mechanism, can lead to problems. Stressful life events and a lack of support at the time when gambling begins can increase the risk of developing gambling issues. For some, gambling starts with apps or games that do not require real money, but this can escalate to betting with actual money, seeking the thrill of risk and reward.
      It's also worth noting that certain risk factors, such as a history of mood, substance, or process addictions, as well as certain disorders like intermittent explosive disorder or ADHD, can make individuals more susceptible to gambling problems. On the flip side, protective factors exist. Financial security, for instance, can be a protective factor against gambling problems, especially for those who have achieved it through self-control and wise financial practices. Supportive friends and realistic hopes and dreams for the future can also serve as buffers against the risks associated with gambling.
      Understanding the psychology behind gambling and its potential impact on mental health is crucial. If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, it's important to seek help from professionals who can provide support and guidance tailored to the individual's needs.

      Very incorrect statement… gambling addiction is the 2nd highest growing problem only after #1 porn addiction. And the amount of unreported gamblers who have a problem and live in secret would surprise even the professionals. Why? Because we don’t think we have a problem.. we just can’t catch a break.. that’s the lie we tell ourselves. So unfortunately this is a huge problem and it’s only going to grow since it’s so in your face with commercials for betting being more common. Lot of people already have a problem, they just don’t know it yet..

      The casinos don’t care about the people that just play for fun, the smaller % of problem and addicted gamblers bring in the greatest % for the casinos.
