Great pitch, seemed well protected 👌 Beautiful sunrise and I loved your toaster 😆 That pool you had a dip in looked black as tar on video, bet it was chilly ❄️

Hi Niall. Thanks for your message. As you know from being a Helm 1 owner yourself, they are great for fitting into small spaces. There was a strong cold breeze that day, so I managed to find a nice sheltered spot. Yes the pool was fairly brown, the streams in Wicklow tend to be that colour from the peat in the mountains. The toaster was a tip I picked up from a guy I hike with. It makes the naan bread taste a lot better 😋. Thanks again for your comments. They are much appreciated 👍

Hi Simon. Thanks for your nice comments. Yes it was a lovely day for a hike and camp. I do a bit of river and sea dipping whenever I can. So I couldn't leave that river pool without trying it out. There was still a lot of uphill to do after,so it warmed me up pretty quickly. It was probably the nicest camp so far. Thanks for your support 👍. Really appreciate it.

Another, simple but excellent post Andrew. Your use of natural light in this one is really outstanding.
How are you getting on with the Helm, and what made you go for that tent? Hope you dont mind me asking!? You post one of your adventures, with wonderful landscapes, and I ask about camping gear..haha..Sorry Andrew! 🤭

Hi Tim. Thank you 👍. I really like the Helm. I started out in a 2 person tent, it was heavy 2.6 kg. I enjoyed the space in it, but it just took up too much space in the rucksack. I chose the Helm because the inner and outer go up at the same time, and it is strong in the wind. If I was to nitpick, I would say it's a little heavy at 2kg. Overall, I am happy with it. Thank you for your nice comments about my videos. I am glad that you like them. Take care and enjoy your camping trips. 🏕

Nice one Andrew! Loving the Naan bread with your dinner!! What was the dinner like, that brand seem to get a lot of good press but they seem expensive too - do you think they’re worth it?? Gorgeous sunrise in the morning, that must have been nice to witness!

Thanks Miriam. The nan bread tastes a lot better after heating/burning. The dinner was excellent. I have used three different flavours , the chicken curry and pasta bolognese were the tastiest. I usually don't like processed food out of packets but these are very good. They are a bit pricey but I would use them if I was going for two nights or am caught for time. The sunrise was beautiful. There was a distinct drop in temperature up on top. Will have to UP the sleeping bag or thermals if I venture out again. Thanks again for your nice comments. Cheers 👍

@@Andrew......... yep, I definitely notice the temperature drop now. I'd say I'll be on my heavier sleeping bag from now on for the next few months 🙃

Hi Miriam, what bag do you use for the colder month's 🤔? and do you use the same mattress? I know I will definitely have to upgrade if I decide to venture into the colder 🧊 season. Thank you.

@@Andrew......... Hi Andrew - I got myself a warmer sleeping bag for last winter when I bought the Rab Neutrino 600. I've been using the Rab Neutrino 400 in Summer months for a good few years so I like the Rab bags. In the colder weather I also add an additional liner to my Neutrino 600 sleeping bag, its the Sea to Summit Reactor Extreme. Sea To Summit claim it'll give you an extra 5 or 6 degrees or something. I trust it to probably give 1 extra degree heat! I also changed my mattress last winter and got the Thermarest Neoair XTherm, I have the large size which is a little over 500g and its fab! For that weight I've been using it during the Summer months also. My previous winter sleeping mat was a lot heavier - it was a little over a kilo so the Xtherm is a great improvement. Another new thing I got last winter which I'm so impressed with are 'down booties' that I wear in the tent in winter. Your feet are kept toasty warm without sweating. They were only about 25 euro and so worth it!! They are the brand called 'Outdoors Sundick' from China - a total bargain, they are about 60g in weight and I highly recommend them!! 😊

Thanks Miriam. Thats great info. The Rab brand seem to get a lot of good reviews as does the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm. I will have a big Christmas list this year 🤭hopefully those booties come in pink 😉. Thanks again for the info, its really appreciated. Take care 👍
