      @@JoelSebastianMoreno Only in the proprietary world of brands like Apple and Google. Most other brands are still including headphone jacks regardless of the budget range, *because they're not proprietary corporate fuckers*

    • @JoelSebastianMoreno
      @JoelSebastianMoreno 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Retronite In High End Smartphones is pretty common don't see any headphone jack, even in some mid range smartphones like Xiaomi Mi A2 from 2018 or even my current phone Samsung Galaxy A80, i buyed because i like huge screens and for listening music on my phone i use Bluetooth headphones (Yes, no the best choice but i only listen music in the bus way to job or in my morning runnings so idgaf about 320 Kbps on Bluetooth headphones).

    • @WrektSK
      @WrektSK 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoelSebastianMoreno you don't need to explain anything about smartphones to me bud. I review and fix electronic devices, including all kinds of smartphones for a living. I use a Redmi Note 7 Pro myself too if you're wondering.
      Like I said, only a handful smartphone brands don't include headphone jacks anymore. Galaxy S10, Mi Note 10, ASUS ROG 2, Huawei P30 are all high end devices which have headphone jacks. Devices like Pixel, S20 Ultra and iPhones can afford to ditch the headphone jack because they know their buyers can afford to spend extra money on proprietary hardware.
      Then there are some devices that ditch the 3.5mm jack in favor of waterproofing. USB C is more waterproof than a 3.5mm jack. One of prime complaints of the Mi A1 was it wasn't very waterproof. Hence they did it.

      i am missing a lot of my high-end hearing, and had difficulty hearing what was so bad during the A/B testing (full band mix, changing cab sim?). is that what the real issue is? (aliasing in the high end, or noise at particular high frequencies). i instantly regretted buying a Spider IV 15 for my daughter's first guitar due to the awful distortion (I can't find a good setting). I actually like Roland MicroCube GX, and THR10X.
      Strangely, I play microtonal guitars, in part because the not-quite-in-tune-ness of the standard fret locations drives me crazy. But a lot of these reviews, I don't hear this wide gulf between good and bad gear just from the amp alone. What really does it for me is those little bends of notes in a chord to get a beating-free timbre; particularly with more distortion added.

    • @varuug
      @varuug 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @rrr00bb - recorded audio (in the video) can't give you the exact feeling of actually physically listening to the amp. depending on the quality of the recording, this difference can be lessened but not eliminated.

      I think they got pretty close. Listen to the original isolated guitar tracks from master of puppets. Its super ultra x100 compressed and the Mids are entirely gone. I thought they got close. Not saying it sounds good because I do not think the Master of Puppets tone is good.

      I haven't heard the isolated tracks, so you're probably right that the presence of the bass guitar is messing with my ears (damn bassists). That said, I do have to agree as much as I like the Master of Puppets sound, it's not the sound I'd chase if I was going to recreate Metallica's tone.

      Francisco Zarabozo Switching completely to wireless is better.*
      You don’t have to do this, but try just ditching all ports where possible for at least a week (use Bluetooth headphones (even cheap skullcandy ones will do perfectly), wireless charging (if your phone supports that), make use of the cloud, just anything that doesn’t require ports), then switch back.

    • @Zarabozo
      @Zarabozo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nath m Plunk - As I said, having wireless available is great, but being limited to it is really not. It isn't about me not knowing the benefits. I actually work in technology and develop software for a living (and have been doing it for the last 18 years, so, believe me, I'm always familiar with the latest technology and I use it daily). I can think of A LOT of situations where having a wired connection to something (power, communication, internet, whatever you want) is way better or your only option. Apple removing that jack had nothing to do with pushing people to use wireless, but pushing people to having to buy wireless gear and adapters. Almost all other brands offer the same wireless technology but still give you an analog port, which is simply great to have available. Also, many things degrade in quality or speed over wireless channels, making it a convenient but imperfect solution for several applications.

    We recently purchased the Line 6 Spider V (240), the Line 6 Amplifi (150), as we as the Line 6 Firehawk FX pedal for our band earlier this year, and they're all pretty amazing... A huge turn around in tonal clearity and sharpness compared to the real practice amps we started out on. The ability to model hundreds of different amps is really helping us dial in the tone we are looking for, for when we wanna make the next upgrade. Theres plenty of plus's to buying the more powerful updated versions of the Line 6 series, in my opinion. \m/

      On that: 9:00 You push your thumb of your left hand against the tsuba (guard) to unlock the sword. Just for safety: At 9:15 when the sword is sheathed, you place your thumb of the left hand on the tsuba (guard) to prevent it from accidentally sliding out the saya (scabbard). And you usually carry the katana edge up.

    Reminds me of Crate Amps in the 70s. A music store I worked in sold them, and I was the repair guy. And so I repaired them. All of them. All day long, every day. And they sounded just like the Spider, maybe worse.
    I never understood why a beginning guitarist with no money who didn't sound good anyway had to have an amp like this inflicted on them. It's always been a rule apparently. It's a crime against humanity.

    Personally I find this Line of amp ( the smaller watt versions) are great. They're small, sound decent for an amp of the same size at the same price range, and are super cheap to begin with. They are great for putting in the trunk of your car and bringing with you to friends houses to jam since it's an amp you don't really care if it gets trashed.They're good for a guy like me who isn't super computer savvy also. Obviously they're no 5150 or Marshall or anything, but they really pack in a ton of cool features and sounds that you won't get from an amp of a similar price tag.
    That being said, it isn't for everyone. I use mine for playing in my room, messing around, taking to friends houses, and jamming alone. There's no way you can play any shows with this, and it won't last super long I'm sure ( although mine has lasted about 6 years of heavy use ).
    For a professional or recording this amp is garbage and a complete joke, but for teenagers who want to start a band or young adults who are strapped for cash and need a practice amp I would say a line 6 is perfect.
    There is my honest review, 3/5 stars.

Absolutely love the guitar. I don’t hate the amp, don’t love the amp. However, I played through a Spyder V 60 today at GC and had so much fun and truly enjoyed it. As an owner of some Line 6 products I have to say they aren't quite as bad as they're made out to be. They get an especially bad rap because the stock patches are ass (they really need to hire someone like Ola to dial in a few patches before release), but if you scrap those and play with the settings for a while they don't sound *terrible*.

    • @tferraro1474

      Sure and his patches sound 100 times better than any stock metal patches (and even it is pretty basic). But I do think line 6 is losing its position as the "ok for the price" product because they keep putting out shit like this.

      @zackxg27 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LoonyyyWSMN Nah. That's just your experience talking. I still remember trying to dial in a tone on a jvm when I first started and having trouble with it. You develop an ear. I can't, not find a decent tone on any amp anymore. It's experience. But since these are being marketed as "beginner amps" I agree with only using the presets. This amp is more complicated than your basic tube amp and I think you are waaaay overestimating the abilities of someone that's never touched a guitar before. Aren't the presets supposed to be ideal tones made by the manufacturer to begin with? I can't fathom how you can expect people to look past them when they are supposed to show off the abilities of the amp. Also, I never said it wouldn't make a difference or that Glenn isn't capable of making it sound better. Try reading that comment a little more closely.

    • @Artcore103
      @Artcore103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's subjective. I own both the line 6 spider V60 (the 30 is just a joke he shouldn't have reviewed it, it's not fair... 8" speaker? come on.) and a katana 50, which I have played around with quite extensively. the katana has SOME great tones in it, but not many. I'm selling it and keeping the spider, which has a far bigger variety of good tones and a built in looper. katana 50 doesn't even have an effects loop so a looper isn't even possible. got them both used. i'd rather have a spider v120 with a 12" though, for sure. i do like the cab and speaker of the katana, but it's high gain sounds are very limited. i even tried all the "sneaky/hidden amps" (google it) and they all sound the same for the most part, same basic character EQ'd differently, with a couple minor exceptions like the Vox 'model'. the cleans are great, but limited to the one jc-120 type sound it has. edge of breakup/light crunch is good too, but again limited. i like several of the boost/disto pedals, great effects. but the line 6 has all that and more. slightly inferior sound, mainly because of the 10" speaker in my case and the closed back cab instead of open back, but way more usable tones that sound completely different from eachother. the katana is a 4 or 5 trick pony, the spider has an order of magnitude more tonal options, with genuinely different characters.

    • @Artcore103
      @Artcore103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MegaCrasherMusic i hear you, but i just don't think the katana is that good on its own, with the built in stomp boxes. The clean channel as a pedal platform for outboard pedals might be fine, but not quality tube amp level good, although it is MUCH cheaper. It may not be advertised as a modeller but it is advertised as being very flexible, and apart from the effects, i don't find that it is. I have played with the global eq's, and as you discovered they do help, but to me the entire character of the distortion is lacking, it's not just some highs that need removed. The crunch through the brown channels have the same overall character, and even the stomp distortions don't really give me what I'm looking for. It's not awful. The dynamics and feel and response to guitar volume and picking are great. It does have it's own unique sound, it's just not for me. I like what the spider v offers better. And you have the same global eq tone shaping options if there's a frequency you don't like, but the fundamental character of the gain in the different models actually changes when you switch amp models. Don't like the dual rec? There's some marshalls. Don't like those? There's an SLO. and the custom line 6 models are actually some of my favorite... Some of them are from scratch creations, but some are simply a mix of one amps preamp with another amps power section. Mics and cabs can have a large effect too. When it comes to relatively low volume home playing, for me, I'll trade what may very well be superior dynamics and responsiveness for a better base tone and flexibility. Even if the spider only had 5 amp models like the 5 katana channels, id still choose it (assuming i liked those models). And then there's the looper! But it's all subjective, I'm glad you've optimized your katana. I've enjoyed mine but in the end wanted something it couldn't provide. You should try out the so called sneaky or hidden amps in the katana. Just download the tsl file and BTS tone library can load up another 27 "models", although i think you'll find like i did that they mostly all sound the same just with different gain levels and eqs. But there is a little difference and variety, so you may prefer one to the stock channels. The vox model genuinely sounds significantly different, and there's some good slightly different clean tones (a twin, with and without bright switch for instance) that are worthwhile. Not sure why people say it emulates a tube sound... I mean it can and does with some of the sounds, but the stock clean channel is from all indications essentially a model of a jc120, a solid state amp, although a famous one to be sure. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts if you try out the many other channels/models that can actually be accessed quite easily.

      Katana is bad ? Lmao, sounds to me a bunch of upset valve amp users are upset knowing the technology Boss has put into that amp will completely destroy valve amps in the next few years.
      Tubes will die at the rate solid states are evolving.

    • @ashcosmo3854
      @ashcosmo3854 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MegaCrasherMusic What do you mean by feel? The only thing is sound/tone and there's almost no difference between tubes and solid state anymore with high end solid states. In the next 10 years expect to see tubes completely fade out and be replaced by the cheaper and more reliable solid state.
      Blind tests online will confirm even advanced guitar players can't tell the difference between the amp types anymore.

      I seriously think the lead tone on bias is worse in this vid.
      I'm using mercuriall stuff btw. U530 and reaxis. Fucking goooood.

    I love your attitude, being a smart-ass myself I can really appreciate your fearlessness!
    As for inexpensive modelling amps that don't suck balls, for those curious, (not sponsored lol) I would highly recommend the Peavey Vypyr (personally own the 30 watt version), amazing cleans with crushing gain good for rhythm and screaming leads. Good effects too
    Again I'm not sponsored by Peavey

    Hey, the destruction was unnessecary. The grille cloth was still tolerable. Or was that terrible as well. If so, then I might just look towards the Randall head over the Spider Jam at my guitar store.

    I once was an idiot and bought a Spider 3... until I realised I couldn't get a sound out of it other than that of a strangled cat. Now I have a Micro Terror and I'm never going back.
    So... as the review shows, if you're getting off on the sound of a strangled or mutilated cat... buy Line6.

      LogiForce86 my friend/guitarist did the exact same thing. I hated that wasp in a bottle sound for years until he got the Orange...his tone was missing the tone

    I heard Ola Englund's presets for it and it sounded pretty decent. I feel like the presets you showed off here are a little misleading because you only showed the bland stuff instead of a full scope.
    Not saying these things are great, just saying I feel like this is a slanted review that cherry picked stuff to prove a point. Nothing wrong with that, we all have our preferences. I'm not a big fan of EMG pickups for instance but hey, if you are thats totally cool. I just wish there was more stuff shown off here.

    I have a Line 6 Spider Jam and a Line 6 HD100 MKII and they are some of the best sounding amps I've ever used. It makes me question if you really got the best out of this amp or your Line 6 hate has driven your bias.
    I'm gunna look for one of these to test it myself.

    What's your opinion on the Marshall DL-40 Combo? I've heard some good things about it and just wanted to know your how you feel about it.

      Julian West it's pretty damn good man. but, you could try out a used dt25 for cheaper. yes it is a line 6, BUT it's bogner designed, tubed, and comes with a celestion 30. the Marshall is still...well a Marshall lol, but I highly recommend checking out the dt25 too.
