I feel like the concept of "forever islands" is just so acnh TH-camr-esque 😅 I believe the default state of the average player's island is a forever island. The concept of restarting was something I'd never heard of or even considered doing before I went onto the acnh side of TH-cam. When I started my island, it was the one I wanted to keep forever, and nothing has changed since. But I really love that you are starting an island you want to keep! It always hurts my soul when TH-camrs make those pretty islands, only to delete them shortly after. I could never 😪
Not just TH-camrs, I generally see it in the “aesthetic bubble” of the acnh community, but you’re 100% right! I think very quickly there’s this pressure to deliver content and different aesthetics and it’s just this quick rush of decorating and moving on… 😔 so I hope this’ll be fun! 🥰
you're right, the concept is so chronically online. you're supposed to have one island forever, youtubers and instagram communities are in their own little world.
I just think it depends on the player style. What I love acnh for is the decorating aspect, because I find everything else boring. Plus the idea of having to tear everything down once I’m done would keep me from playing haha. But the idea of a forever island is super cute if you enjoy doing the other activities in acnh
@@Lucy-uf6oi No, you're "supposed" to play video games in the way that brings you the most enjoyment. If playing exactly the way the developers intended makes you happy, but people have been putting their own spin on their playstyles long before "online" was a thing.
i found my forever island in December 2022! my first thought was, "I'm exhausted from just resetting after completing an island, i just want one that's my home" and here we are! I've only terriformed maybe 10% of the island but the majority has been untouched from terraforming and water scaping! I'm so proud of this little island. it's a mix of farmcore, cottagecore and "normcore" ❤️ and just about once a month i change an area so everything just feels fresh. i love it.
I also like to take the game day by day and collect all the items and crafts naturally without rushing. This way Animal Crossing gives me the most joy and a relaxing time.
@@sophie9984 I am doing the same. I have my first island which I started last year , when I bought acnh and I take my time with it and just enjoy everything about it. I love the game so much , I had to get another nintendo so I have an island that I can start and restart when I want and not worry about losing my original island :)
my very first island also happens to be my "forever island" since I've already achieved so much there (plus my emotional bond with the villagers) that I just can't delete it. ofc the idea of a restart to get a better layout or something is always tempting, but all the more excited I am to see Calathea grow and bloom hehe. your editing is *chefs kiss*, it was such a blast to watch! ♥
The emotional bond is real! The first thing I did after resetting was fly to a treasure island and get all the villagers photos I had on my previous island to display in my house!!
I’ve also kept my very first island I’ve never been one to restart island/towns in ac I’m not against but I think I’m way too attached to my island lol I do really want to get a second island to feel less bad about restarting
@@Smolsamie_ SAME it's just so upsetting that you can't even buy a second game to have a second island :( buying a whole new switch seems like such a waste, nintendo seriously should have thought about just allowing multiple save files either on different accounts or if u had multiple games.
I'm currently working on what I call a "playable" island. ("Playcore", if you will. 😂) I'd like to keep it forever and focus on the game (fishing, bug catching, building friendships, holiday events, et cetera) instead of creating a particular aesthetic. I have a general theme, but otherwise, I want to ensure that I have plenty of space and opportunity to play the game. A lot of trees, fishing spots, and in-game path. I'm excited to finish it!
4:43 took me back to my very very first island, back when I didn't have a switch and played ACNH on an emulator...Cherry and Boone were my very first starters ever and I still love them dearly.
I've had the same island since the game came out, I only have 700 hours (which isn't that much compared to a lot of other players) and admittedly I've had months-long breaks between playing at times, but when I return back to my island it really does feel like home. I've never time travelled which I think helps because it takes a lot longer to do most things - I can't order more than 5 things in a day, I can't move more than one house in a day etc etc. I've been really enjoying playing recently and it's wonderful to see how far I've come. I still have areas on my island I want to complete/redo; dreamies to find; DIYs to learn even though I've been playing for over 3 years and I like the slow paced nature of playing that way. However, there are a couple of things that frustrate me about playing this way: - My DA is saved to a year after I got the game when I had fully decorated my island for the first time. After that, I flattened it and have been building up again, but I don't want to write over my old DA. - Seeing the amazing builds and whole islands people create and how quickly they can do them! I always want to replicate them but there is lack of space/resources playing with one island in real time.
I play on my forever island since the game released. It would be sooo much fun to restart but I just love to come back "home" yk? I just can't get rid of it 😅 Both of my starting villagers are still on my island and also 2 of the 3 that auto filled for the first 3 open plots 😅 some of them are married, some divorced 😂 Every villager has their own area, we have a more city-like part on the island and the rest is just different nature builds which developed over the years. Also I play without nintendo online what dragged the process of actually finishing the island out by years. Our town square changes depending on the season. So.... pretty close to what you've planned for your forever island design-wise 😊
With my latest island, I named it a theme neutral name about something I couldn't change--my starting fruit. I'm bad at planning out terraforming so I did a (probably weird) thing and paid an artist on etsy $20 to design a map for me (it was her set price). It's not perfect but it was more than good enough, so I built it last night. Next comes moving buildings, and path placements. And the best part? When I logged in last night to start, I had that elusive feeling of comfort like when you go home. Pearbridge is home. I'm never remaking my ACNH island on purpose again. I made sure to enable Island Backup this time, so I won't lose it like I did my last island.
Omg that home feeling is the best! Also not weird at all! Some people unfortunately charge like A LOT for stuff like that, but 20 bucks sounds reasonable especially considering the joy it brought you! 🥰 Like Leif always says: You gotta do what makes you happy! 🤎
I restarted so many times I think I have finally decided to have a forever island. Started a new one yesterday and named it Leafy Dock and I feel with that name I can do just about anything with it. Really looking forward to this.
I've started my forever island recently with one slightly different aspect. I bought the game when it first came out, played for about a year, and then haven't played till now. I felt bad about missing out on so much gameplay time, so I've decided to set my switch to January 1st, 2020, and time skip one day at a time up to the present day at which point I'll resync my island and play normal again. So excited for this journey.
My first island is my forever island too. There’s no way I could get rid of it. It’s gone through A LOT of changes- and is finally the National Forest Island I love. Villagers are campers staying in cabins, or employees; I have 6 characters- staff and campers (2 in tents); and have set the DA. I love it. And Bob and Clay can never leave bc I love them so ❤ Also explains why I have another switch and burned myself out working on the second - which if I ever get it right could be a forever island too. Lol ❤❤
I never did any "themed islands", but I wanted to experiment with different layouts until I found one I liked. I'm on my third island and I think it's a keeper. I like having the ability to redecorate whenever I please. I just move all my buildings onto the beach so I have plenty of space to plan out whatever design I have in mind.
I have my island forever since 2020, and a fun way to change things up is to set a goal before you can change anything, for example, I don't allow myself to kick out villagers until I have their picture, making the decision to get a new villager important, because I know he will be living on my island for months.
I kinda did that. I made an Island based off of different biomes like a forest or the tundra. However it ended up under-decorated so I restarted it. (I should have completely reseted it tho. I could have changed the name that way.) Now I redecorated my island into a summer camp. Filled with details and camp activities! I love it so much!
that was so nicely done - I am (if at all possible) even more excited to continue working on my own forever island. I like the thought of not being stressed about having to "finnish" the island I am working on, cause I am usually a very slow decorater and sometimes feel like I am too slow overall... now I can just build on the island whenever I truly feel inspired and only do things I like and when I don't like them anymore, I can just change them again and not feel bad about it because they no longer fit into the "theme" I might have picked at the start. Thank you so much for giving me a kinda motivational peptalk with this video XD
I have a forever island that I’m working on, it’s been 2 years in the making. This video was so so so helpful!! So many great ideas/tips that I would have ever thought of
My first island is my current island. I started on the evening of March 19th, 2020. I was notoriously bad for restarting my towns in previous Animal Crossing games, especially New Leaf. So I made myself a promise I would not restart my town ever in New Horizons and to be honest I'm glad because I'm still working on it to this day! Of course I've had intermitted periods of playing other games/taking breaks from New Horizons but my dear L'Arca is still here, alive and well!
I love the suggestion of being open to new ideas and just going with it. My island has always been that way. Different sections are very different themes and colors. When my island felt finished I just found older sections to update with new ideas.
i have a forever island too!! i first started it in july last year and "finished" in september but i still tweak and decorate:)) i have so much love for this island and i love it more than any other island ive had
I logged on to my island after not playing for like 8 months and I’d made enough progress that I didn’t want to restart but I’m planning on redoing a bunch of stuff and making it a forever island :)
My first island is still my forever island. Ive revamped it a few times but never fully restarted. Its actually been a while since I've played but my roommate is playing again and I'm tempted to revisit it.
First time watching your videos today. I really like how you explain everything from DA codes to pros and cons of forever/non-terraforming islands. Really helps me gather my own perspective of how I personally would perfer to play the game instead of following trends. Great content!!
I once had one island that was a no time travel no theme just… play the game island after all my fancy ones and… it’s genuinely a completely different game. I didn’t do much of any terraforming which was fun because it made me figure out what to make with the areas I had too. I’m not saying every island has to be it, but if you can, I highly recommend making one like that. It’s unbelievably fun and you really enjoy every feature the game has to offer instead of just building a perfect area.
i've had the same island since the beginning, of course there's things i'd like to change that i wasn't thinking about when picking a layout. but restarting is just too daunting, mostly that first few weeks/months of unlocking, paying off, and relearning diys that i just know will kill my drive to play. when first starting out in 2020, i was more achievement focused and left decorating to the wayside. but now, especially after finishing the DLC, i've really revamped a lot of the island to a state i enjoy wandering around. now back to achievement grinding... i finally caught all the bugs the other day lol, only took 835 hours..... i saw another comment of the idea of a "foever island" is very much a acnh content creator concept, which i fully agree with lol.
I restarted my island in January with the intention of a set theme, but started getting more bored with it the closer I got to completing the island. I flattened everything and decided to start a forever island and it took so much pressure off of "completing" the island and gave me more freedom to have fun with the game. I don't feel bad anymore if I don't like a build I've done and have to take everything down and start over. Being able to run around the island and come up with new build ideas wherever I want is so nice! I get excited when I have time to play because I genuinely enjoy it now and I'm not just forcing myself to pick up my switch.
@@mrkrabz7108I started with removing items, trees, bushes, and flowers, then broke down all the cliffs and rivers I could. I left any villager houses on as little cliff as possible until I could move them where I wanted them. Then I got rid of any inclines and bridges and was left with a flat island! I ended up keeping all of my flowers by putting them on my beaches and saved some trees and bushes in one area. I hope this helps! I think it's a lot of work and is pretty time consuming even if you time travel, but it's worth it ❤️ I also suggest watching Malin's island flattening videos because I think she does it a little differently than me. Or just playing them in the background to feel like you're working with someone 😊 good luck!!
I have a forever island it’s not perfect and will probably be always under construction but that’s kind of the joy of ac as a whole it’s meant to be played slowly it’s meant to be taken your time to play and come back to when you’re not feeling forced or burnt out. For me I love playing just for fishing and talking to villagers yea it can get old but just playing a game for the mundane aspects can be relaxing,, I’ve fallen in love with new leaf when it first came out and I feel like so many people don’t realize that new horizons is the first game that started to base solely more on decorating than the other aspects of the game. I feel like maybe looking into playing the other games in the series or just trying to play the game without forcing yourself to decorate all of the time at least has been helpful for me! Needless to say this is all my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt 😂 also the joy of having a forever island is I have so much unlocked with wanting to go from cottagecore to kidcore aesthetic I had more than enough materials and space to do so also flattening is so soothing lol anyways ty ily ac community/friends
I love that the aesthetics that you are going for, is exactly what im trying to achieve in my island! My inso sentence is: "WEIWA - Known for its dense forest and a peaceful village"
I have a forever island, it’s name is Altumaria and I love it so much. I’ve changed the entrance a few times, and I’m never truly happy with the neighborhood, and once I have a villagers photo some of them I let go (I’ve kept a few, two were from my friends islands and birthday twins of loved ones). 10/10 would recommend!!
I have a forever island too! Mostly because I don't want to delete it because it took me so long to invite my favorite characters to my island and build my sub-urb style neighborhood
I have had the same island since the day after the game was released. I have also never let any of my villagers leave. Idk I like my island. I haven't changed it a lot. Other than moving around furniture tho the rivers and upper and lower parts, I have never changed them. I have moved my villager houses once and my own house once too. Other than that, I just like to visit with my villagers and have my guy exercise and to collect the items and stuff.
I've always had my very first island. I wanted to try something new, but I could never part with it. It never felt amazing with themes, but over time, I started terraforming section by section. Now my island feels more home than ever, and it ain't even done. There is an overall theme (cottagecore, fantasy core, and forest based), but there are little sectuons with themes. Like farm based, some ocean themes, spring, waterfalls, twilight, ancient, etc. Im having so much fun, and tbh if I were to try something new, I'm tempted to buy an extra card just so I could keep this wonderful adventure❤😊
Fun fact, I actually started my forever island the beginning of this year because I would finish islands so quick and I've had it for around 6 months and I plan to go the whole year and I don't think I'll reset. If I want to restart, I'll take down all the stuff and start new unless I want a different map. I'm almost finished with the island.
I have a forever island (you can see it on my channel if you're curious) and the main goal is to be an island which can be played at any time of day and any season without having to do massive reconstruction first. It is a completely natural forest island with very little to no furniture (making it easier to switch themes/seasons). I want to complete every task in the game, unlock every achievement and donate everything to the museum (which I am very close to finishing!), since I've never "completed" any Animal Crossing game in the past. Most importantly however, I want this to be the main island that I film my videos on (mainly day-to-day gameplay + seasonal events etc.) since it will be completely neutral. This island, 'Oakwood', is still very much a work in progress (landscaping is not easy!), but hopefully one day it will be exactly how I want it to be...
I started my forever island in March of 2022! I love it so much ❤! I change things for upcoming seasons or events. I have a public shopping area with a veggie garden! I’m so attached now, I don’t think I could ever restart EllaNova!!
I love this for you! I've always wanted a "forever island" but I couldn't stick with 1 island much less complete it 😢 but even before I saw your video a couple days ago I made it a goal to keep this island so to see this video just made me so happy to see someone else sticking to one island!! My island name is Misty Key by the way 😊
I still use the island I started with and I never plan to stop haha. I have been playing for over 1.5 years (summer 2021), I started playing in the way people now call Hard Mode, I dont have another switch nor mods, and Im still having fun. I always will, up untill my switch dies :) - I am a hoarder (my storage is full 24/7, I have reached the limit to the storage expansion) - I am a collector (I want to have every single special item, museum part finished, flower/fruit, everything. By using the least amount of help possible) - I use nookazon just for selling fossils and grabbags, I dont get anything else :))
I've had the same island since March 2020 😅I don't think any of my friends who play ACNH have ever restarted their island either. So it's a bit strange to me to be treating it like a new concept. That's the default way to play the game for me. I hope you've been finding some joy in it!
This is how I do all my islands. I can't just get attached to them and then delete them. I still have my first island from march of 2020 and consider it my "main" island.
I want to restart... but when I was younger I was obsessed with resetting stuff constantly, and now I regret it. I could have had a 10 year old ACNL town this year - I have a 5 year old one now which is still pretty cool, but I really wish I'd just kept the original. I got ACNH on release day, March 20th 2020, and kept the same island ever since. It's so cool having a 3 year old island now and even though it feels stale sometimes, I still love it. I'd like to get a second copy of the game at some point (I did that with ACNL as I lost my original, then found it again) so I can mess around with the second copy and restart it more often though :)
Im planning on making a forever island as well cause Im getting tired of resenting. I just want to settle down live in the island Im on until I get enough stuff to make the theme I am planning.
I have restarted quite a few times since January, especially with wanting to do hard mode and maybe making it my forever island. Rethinking what I've done on the island so far after watching your video. Maybe another restart for me soon...at least on my one switch that I don't TT on.
I’ve restarted my island so many times over 😩 I just started a new one and I want it to be my forever island…I enjoy so many different aesthetics, so it’s been hard to decide on one. I like your idea of having areas that fit a couple of different themes and fit different seasons, where I can still switch out items and it feels fresh. Do you have a link tree with all of the paths you’ve used in the past? I struggle finding good Forest core paths just by searching online
I just started my new island 2-3 weeks ago, and yesterday i got an idea - an vacation island. The only rule is that: If villager want to go away, must be swapt by villager with this same personality type. I know - i'ts gonna be hard when my fav villager say "I wanna go away", but everyone deserved to go on vacation! (even if i don't like them) In this way i think - this gonna be my forever island.
I still have my first island, and I've been hesitant to even change its layout too drastically from its day one state. I've been tempted to start a new playthrough, but I don't even have half of the DIYs, and starting from an empty DIY list again sounds awful, even using order bots.
I wanna try to make an island that looks amazing in every season with lots of pink!! This is just my 2nd island, I didn't keep the 1st one because it was shared with my brother.
I bought a second switch to try new themes on a new island. I was so excited, jumped into Springcore thinking that I would start there and restart for every new theme that I wanted to do until I would end with something I would play a little bit on the daily for a longer time. However, I got such good luck that my new island became my forever island on accident. I was finding the villagers I wanted on my forever island (nostalgic friends from the Wii and cuties I've wanted for so long) and I just could not pass on this amazing luck. So now I'm too attached with this surprise forever island to do all the 5-6 other themes I had in mind and planned over time. Oops? 😅I do love the concept of a forever island, though. Pouring time and love into this project is so wholesome.
@@leahevehumphries Hi! You do need a whole new console, so yes, a new switch. You will have to purchase the game again if you want to buy it digitally. I think you can use the same game card if you don't plan on playing on both consoles at the same time (like to visit yourself, drop items, water flowers for breeding, all of that), you can use the same game card. Personally, I visit my two islands quite often so it was just more convenient to buy another game card. If you play Happy Home Paradise, you will also need to purchase it on your second switch. Basically, you just double everything 😥It is so ridiculous. Nintendo should let us have at least two different islands.
@@lauriestark2282 thanks for letting me know! I may be able to get a new OLED switch soon-ish so it'll be good to know I could use the same cartridge - I might treat myself to a second though! 🙂
@@leahevehumphries Of course! I'm glad I could help! If I can save someone the boring research I did before buying my second switch, I'm happy to do it! :D I hope you do get it and you enjoy your future island!!!
See I planned on having a forever island but my resident services was way too close and I really wanted a big entrance so I reset. It all went down hill from there. Good intentions, bad aftermath.
I think the question is do you want to have multiple DA's or are you okay with 1 DA. Bc you can decorate / terraform your island how many themes you want w/o losing item/museum progress - but if you want to have multiple DA's then yeah you'd have to restart & treasure hunt solely for decorating multiple islands.
I’m like a complete opposite. Atm I want to start over but I got my island since release but my friends want to start over all together but it’s hard for me to let go of my island.. hahaah
I have had a forever island from the beginning....I just switch out areas of the island from time to time. It's fun and I don't worry about "finishing" my island.
i wish that i could have my 1 forever island that i have now, and just buy a second copy of the game to experiment with and see how i would restart if i were going to restart.. but ofc nintendo couldn't figure that one out and i'd need an entirely different console.. it's such a shame really because even if they didn't allow multiple users to create an island on the console, they could have at least let people buy a second copy of the game if they wanted a second island. it's something i would've highly considered and probably would have done. i'm too emotionally attached to my island to ever consider deleting it but i still want the chance to start fresh and explore a different layout. oh well, here's to hoping i win some million-dollar giveaway so i can justify getting a second switch some day in the future..
I read on reddit that eventually if the DAs aren't updated then they will disappear or be removed?! I've never restarted an island but would feel better about it if I know that the DA would last forever?
Ive never reset my island since the very first time i loaded the game. And i could never understand people who did. Not judging but i just got really attached to my island and the tbought of collecting everything again made me sick. Not to mention i thought it would be easier to just redesign pecices of the island as i go along rather than trying to do all that shelling out cash to nook a million times just to get house upgrades etc. I have a lot of hours on my island and im happy i never restarted. I live vicariously through everyone else who restarted their island. Also i have marshall and raymond so.
Yes my island is completely finished (and kinda ugly), but I can’t bring myself to delete it. I wanna relax instead of always be working on stuff constantly. After all acnh is meant to calm the player lol
I love your AC videos, and passion for the game, thanks for the lovely video- it’s so well thought out and made :) 💜 My original first island Amaranth is still going, I do try to go through a theme (but still have a fun playable island) get the DA perfect, then flatten a little at a time and decorate a new fun theme! At this point I’ve probably had 8-9 themes and am so grateful I kept it! Now I also have a switch to continually restart but I still flatten it instead, I can’t bear to delete haha! 😂✋🏻
As someone who refuses to restart my whole game or waste money on a new switch my island will always be my "forever" island. Why start all over, lose all the progress I've spent since the game came out and feel like I "need" to finish my island just to move on to the next. If you're content creator I do understand owning a 2nd switch to do these types of things but as someone who isn't I like my island I created way back in 2020! If I get bored of a build I can always change it, and I won't be broke or have no items because I never restarted and lost of the things I've slowly been collecting over the years.
I’m just started building my rainbow island, I’ve collected some villagers, and I’m still debating if I should have no rainbow, and just do what I want? I like the idea of a rainbow island because it sounds really cute and cool, but my mind keeps switching between what I should do? Any advice?
Bro my island is my forever island bc I have all the fruit variants from that online free trial. (I also don’t have money) I want to keep my fruit, so I can’t restart ;-; but i don’t want to, so it’s fine :)
I also upload all my Twitch streams to TH-cam on my second channel (sparksby archive), in case you ever want to catch up on some island progress! But no worries! 🤎
I liked how you explained this video. I have a question, though. How could a perfectionist (aka me) be comfortable with having the island in different themes etc? I often want to try a different theme but dont because there'd be a cottagecore bit and a citycore bit, that kind of thing. x EDIT: I have only one switch, so I wouldnt be able to make another island.
As a perfectionist myself, I thought about this as well - like A LOT! 😂 So one thing I like doing that makes it “ok” for my brain is to come up with a storyline! So let’s say there’s the town and nature part - it’s kind of like an actual provincial town where people live in a certain area and then go on a hike in the forest maybe? Or the themed entrance I’ve actually thought about that being like one of those themed festivals/fairs you always see in those small town romantic tv shows! 😂 So they always put up different themed builds kind of? 🤭 I hope this somewhat helps, honestly let your imagination run wild and that might make it more fun!! 🤎
Started playing regretting it now that I noticed it's just a mobile Sim game that you pick up for a few hours of the day everyday its OK but definitely wouldn't buy physical and digital like I do for all games that I consider great
Ughhhhhrhhhggggg I wanna restart my island sooo badly because the flowers took over and I just don’t like it but I also have a lot of dreamies…. And honestly I just don’t wanna complete the story again 😭 can someone just weed and de-flower my island plz 😭? I will pay 50,000 bells for de-flowering and 50,000 for weeding 🥲 or should I just restart idkkkkk

@@sophie9984 I am doing the same. I have my first island which I started last year , when I bought acnh and I take my time with it and just enjoy everything about it. I love the game so much , I had to get another nintendo so I have an island that I can start and restart when I want and not worry about losing my original island :)
That sounds absolutely perfect! I think I also need to figure out a good balance of creating content vs. playing on this island for myself 🥺
My first island was then I got my Nintendo for Christmas and animal crossing with it it’s gonna be my forever island
But also I would have got a different fruit than pears
my very first island also happens to be my "forever island" since I've already achieved so much there (plus my emotional bond with the villagers) that I just can't delete it. ofc the idea of a restart to get a better layout or something is always tempting, but all the more excited I am to see Calathea grow and bloom hehe. your editing is *chefs kiss*, it was such a blast to watch!
Same theres to many memories for me to delete my first island! Ive had it since the minute the game came out!
@@Smolsamie_ SAME it's just so upsetting that you can't even buy a second game to have a second island :( buying a whole new switch seems like such a waste, nintendo seriously should have thought about just allowing multiple save files either on different accounts or if u had multiple games.
Thank you for the kind words on the editing, that made me really happy!! 🤎
I'm excited to finish it!
exactly, make it pretty... but also functional. Most youtube builds are pure decoration that make it impossible to play the game.
4:43 took me back to my very very first island, back when I didn't have a switch and played ACNH on an emulator...Cherry and Boone were my very first starters ever and I still love them dearly.
what emulator did u use
@@Mintlxttee yuzu but i think all switch emulators are banned now :')
@@naz3454 ohh damn cuz i would lvoe to have emulator to make second island lol i have switch
However, there are a couple of things that frustrate me about playing this way:
- My DA is saved to a year after I got the game when I had fully decorated my island for the first time. After that, I flattened it and have been building up again, but I don't want to write over my old DA.
- Seeing the amazing builds and whole islands people create and how quickly they can do them! I always want to replicate them but there is lack of space/resources playing with one island in real time.
Having an island that feels like home is amazing, but I totally get the frustrations too! 🥺
Do you have a DA?? It sounds adorable I want to visit 😇🤲
That sounds absolutely incredible! Love when there’s a little storyline for villagers hehe 🤭
I made sure to enable Island Backup this time, so I won't lose it like I did my last island.
honestly id also pay someone $20 to design my island too, it’d be so much less stressful so it’s not too weird IMO
Omg that home feeling is the best! Also not weird at all! Some people unfortunately charge like A LOT for stuff like that, but 20 bucks sounds reasonable especially considering the joy it brought you! 🥰
Like Leif always says: You gotta do what makes you happy! 🤎
I restarted so many times I think I have finally decided to have a forever island. Started a new one yesterday and named it Leafy Dock and I feel with that name I can do just about anything with it. Really looking forward to this.
That sounds like a super cute name! Have fun! 🤎
I love it. And Bob and Clay can never leave bc I love them so ❤
Also explains why I have another switch and burned myself out working on the second - which if I ever get it right could be a forever island too.
I've had the same island since launch, but its been neat to see all the creative island builds people make who reset for it
I have my island forever since 2020, and a fun way to change things up is to set a goal before you can change anything, for example, I don't allow myself to kick out villagers until I have their picture, making the decision to get a new villager important, because I know he will be living on my island for months.
I kinda did that. I made an Island based off of different biomes like a forest or the tundra. However it ended up under-decorated so I restarted it. (I should have completely reseted it tho. I could have changed the name that way.)
Now I redecorated my island into a summer camp.
Hehe you’re very very welcome! I hope you have lots of fun working on your island! 🤎
I haven't played in about 2 years , I started a island yesterday and I think it maybe my forever island 😊 I love everything about it.
i have a forever island too!! i first started it in july last year and "finished" in september but i still tweak and decorate:)) i have so much love for this island and i love it more than any other island ive had
That’s amazing! 🥰
This has exactly been my approach since day 1 of playing this game!
Oh Malin this video is perfect and has definitely inspired me to start a forever island!
Wouldn’t it have been awesome if you could have had two islands on one switch!
That would literally be the dream 😭
I restarted my island in January with the intention of a set theme, but started getting more bored with it the closer I got to completing the island. I flattened everything and decided to start a forever island and it took so much pressure off of "completing" the island and gave me more freedom to have fun with the game. I don't feel bad anymore if I don't like a build I've done and have to take everything down and start over. Being able to run around the island and come up with new build ideas wherever I want is so nice! I get excited when I have time to play because I genuinely enjoy it now and I'm not just forcing myself to pick up my switch.
how did u flatten the island? what about the houses?
im just interesrwd as this is something i wanna do
@@mrkrabz7108I started with removing items, trees, bushes, and flowers, then broke down all the cliffs and rivers I could.
@@maddieroewer7852 thankyou so so so so much!!!
Needless to say this is all my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt 😂 also the joy of having a forever island is I have so much unlocked with wanting to go from cottagecore to kidcore aesthetic I had more than enough materials and space to do so also flattening is so soothing lol anyways ty ily ac community/friends
im slowly coming back into acnh im so excited
I love that the aesthetics that you are going for, is exactly what im trying to achieve in my island! My inso sentence is: "WEIWA - Known for its dense forest and a peaceful village"
I have a forever island, it’s name is Altumaria and I love it so much. I’ve changed the entrance a few times, and I’m never truly happy with the neighborhood, and once I have a villagers photo some of them I let go (I’ve kept a few, two were from my friends islands and birthday twins of loved ones). 10/10 would recommend!!
My forever island is my first-ever island. I just never reset
Your island sounds amazing! 🥰
Unfortunately you need an entire separate switch for a new island 😭
That sounds beautiful! 🥰
I love this for you! I've always wanted a "forever island" but I couldn't stick with 1 island much less complete it 😢 but even before I saw your video a couple days ago I made it a goal to keep this island so to see this video just made me so happy to see someone else sticking to one island!! My island name is Misty Key by the way 😊
You got this!! 🥰
I still use the island I started with and I never plan to stop haha. I have been playing for over 1.5 years (summer 2021), I started playing in the way people now call Hard Mode, I dont have another switch nor mods, and Im still having fun. I always will, up untill my switch dies :)
- I am a hoarder (my storage is full 24/7, I have reached the limit to the storage expansion)
- I am a collector (I want to have every single special item, museum part finished, flower/fruit, everything. By using the least amount of help possible)
- I use nookazon just for selling fossils and grabbags, I dont get anything else :))
I've had the same island since March 2020 😅I don't think any of my friends who play ACNH have ever restarted their island either. So it's a bit strange to me to be treating it like a new concept. That's the default way to play the game for me. I hope you've been finding some joy in it!
I’m starting a forever island in spring since there’s gonna be more to do, I wanna name it after my dog
Ive always wanted to do this!
My first island is my forever island. I have had it since March 2020 and I will never reset it.
I'm working on my Forever Island
I just started my new island 2-3 weeks ago, and yesterday i got an idea - an vacation island. The only rule is that: If villager want to go away, must be swapt by villager with this same personality type.
I know - i'ts gonna be hard when my fav villager say "I wanna go away", but everyone deserved to go on vacation! (even if i don't like them)
In this way i think - this gonna be my forever island.
Ooh I really like this storyline approach! You’ll probably meet so many new cuties you never considered before! 🥰
3 mins ago? I feel so honored 🥲
I have a forever island, because I want to 100% the game but take my time. That means completing everything possible.
I was literally just debating restarting to do a forever island 😅
Let’s gooooo! 🤭
Wow your island looks finished👀mine looks messy😢
I still have my first island, and I've been hesitant to even change its layout too drastically from its day one state.
I've been tempted to start a new playthrough, but I don't even have half of the DIYs, and starting from an empty DIY list again sounds awful, even using order bots.
I wanna try to make an island that looks amazing in every season with lots of pink!! This is just my 2nd island, I didn't keep the 1st one because it was shared with my brother.
You got this! 😊
Oh, do you have to buy a different _switch_ to get a new island rather than a new game? Or do you need both?
@@lauriestark2282 Thank you! 😄
See I planned on having a forever island but my resident services was way too close and I really wanted a big entrance so I reset.
It all went down hill from there. Good intentions, bad aftermath.
I think the question is do you want to have multiple DA's or are you okay with 1 DA.
Bc you can decorate / terraform your island how many themes you want w/o losing item/museum progress - but if you want to have multiple DA's then yeah you'd have to restart & treasure hunt solely for decorating multiple islands.
currently doing a limited terraforming city forever island that im gonna go through the seasons with! im about 1/8 of the way done 😅
ITS KATT! MY FAVORITE VILLAGER IN THE GAME!
I’m like a complete opposite. Atm I want to start over but I got my island since release but my friends want to start over all together but it’s hard for me to let go of my island.. hahaah
Oh shit I had no idea the dream addresses were unique!
My forever island I starter 10 years ago! 😂
That’s why I gave my island a neutral name, so I can change my island without the name seeming out of place ☺️
My first island is my forever island 😇
My island is forever baby, I can never ever leave my ketchup gurl
I love your AC videos, and passion for the game, thanks for the lovely video- it’s so well thought out and made :) 💜
My original first island Amaranth is still going, I do try to go through a theme (but still have a fun playable island) get the DA perfect, then flatten a little at a time and decorate a new fun theme! At this point I’ve probably had 8-9 themes and am so grateful I kept it! Now I also have a switch to continually restart but I still flatten it instead, I can’t bear to delete haha! 😂✋🏻
Thank you so much! 🤎
Omg that sounds like an awesome project! Sometimes I wish I had kept my first island 🥺
My island is the best island in the world!
I have almost 2000 hours on my release day island and I never restarted it.
I’m just started building my rainbow island, I’ve collected some villagers, and I’m still debating if I should have no rainbow, and just do what I want? I like the idea of a rainbow island because it sounds really cute and cool, but my mind keeps switching between what I should do? Any advice?
You could also have ‘just’ a rainbow area? And the rest of the island is just what you feel like in the moment! 🥰
Bro my island is my forever island bc I have all the fruit variants from that online free trial. (I also don’t have money) I want to keep my fruit, so I can’t restart ;-; but i don’t want to, so it’s fine :)
me personally i can never have a forever island because i get bored and burnt out over the same things fast
Totally valid as well!
Ya I deleted my forever island because I wanted to change the name and I haven’t been able to enjoy the game since 😞
i just want the ability to have multiple islands, it's SOOO annoying that you have to buy a whole new switch.
I love the idea of forever islands. It's why I have 5 separate switch now.
I wish I could watch your streams but I can’t watch twitch! 😭😭
I also upload all my Twitch streams to TH-cam on my second channel (sparksby archive), in case you ever want to catch up on some island progress! But no worries! 🤎
@@sparksby thank you so much! I'm gonna go binge watch them all now!
I have a forever island on my main switch. I have a switch lite where I restart all the time lol
That sounds like an awesome balance!!
I did
I liked how you explained this video. I have a question, though. How could a perfectionist (aka me) be comfortable with having the island in different themes etc? I often want to try a different theme but dont because there'd be a cottagecore bit and a citycore bit, that kind of thing. x
EDIT: I have only one switch, so I wouldnt be able to make another island.
As a perfectionist myself, I thought about this as well - like A LOT! 😂
So one thing I like doing that makes it “ok” for my brain is to come up with a storyline! 🤭
I hope this somewhat helps, honestly let your imagination run wild and that might make it more fun!! 🤎
@@sparksby thank you so much! this defiantly gives me a new perspective, which i'll enjoy
Started playing regretting it now that I noticed it's just a mobile Sim game that you pick up for a few hours of the day everyday its OK but definitely wouldn't buy physical and digital like I do for all games that I consider great
Just without the pay real money aspect
Do you know the design code for the road path in the “verdant” island? I really like it
I have all designs I use on my website sparksby.com 🥰
@@sparksby thank you!!
You can always flatten your island, move the buildings, and start fresh just without any of the annoying tutorial
Hey is the offer still up lol?
At 8:55, what is that mode? Is it from the dlc ?
Yes, that’s the decorating mode in the DLC! 😊
hiiii!
this isn't a new idea, most people don't just decorate for views and delete their islands. acnh youtube is so bizarre.
