  • Conservation of Energy, Different Forms of Energy and Centripetal Force are explained in a practical way using a toy! The Law of Conservation of Energy is discussed and applied to find the speed of the car. Have you been on a roller coaster? Roller coasters are designed using these concepts: Types of Energy, Law of Conservation of Energy and Centripetal Force and Centripetal Acceleration.

The elastic was stretched about 10 cm (0.1 metre in SI units) with an “average” force equivalent to about 1 kilogram (about 10 Newton’s of force in SI) (this is like the weight of a liter of water or milk) giving 0.1 X 10 = 1 Joule of energy. Just in case anyone was wondering why it was simply 1 joule in elastic.

also losing energy to friction on the ramp. which essentially transfers the energy to the ramp in the form of heat created and static electricity. miniscule amounts but still relevent. essentially a product of friction (both air friction against the molecules of the air and friction between the wheels and the plastic. not to mention it contains allot of energy that its not releasing. (or releasing extremely slow) e=mc2. its mass is also a form of energy. even the shape of the ramp essentially creates force between the car and the ramp when the direction is changed. essentially inertia.
