Most of us are not going to spend $1500 on an optic. But, many of us will spend $1500 to have 3 or 4 rifles equipped with decent optics.
I will do both , even when I can’t afford it
I’d rather buy once and cry once to get the best glass I can, just like my firearms, I’d rather only have 1 or 2 of each that I can absolutely rely on no matter what that I consistently train with then to have 4 so so rifles topped with so so glass that might or might not work when it’s my and my families lives on the line potentially. There is a very clear difference between them.

A truer statement was never said. I was looking at prices for Vortex Razor Gen III 6-36X56 and it is averaging $3k whether Optics Planet or Amazon. Plus, I like Vortex Matched Precision rings at %$150 per set.
That being said, we can find less expensive optics that are performing just as well. Even though Arken is not my favorite brand, and I do own some Arken optics, I have seen guys holding their with Arken chinesium optics on the Texas Plinking challenge of 1 MOA at 1,000 yards.

The biggest difference we see between a budget scope and a high end opitic is when we get over 12X magnification. At 9 magnification, you can't see any difference between my Simmons or my $1200.00 Leopold (probably cost more now 15+ years later). For a deer rifle out to 200 yards, my $109.00 3X9 Simmons has served me well for thirty years. For critters out to 300+ yards with a kill zone the size of a quarter, spend as much as you can part with on high magnification and quality glass.
I really do miss the hell out of the airgun videos. I know the pain that they can bring if you’re not into tinkering, fixing seals, and bullshit with air sources…BUT you did make some great videos with them. Thanks and stay blessed.

I regularly say that with Arken you're getting a $1000 scope for half price. Clearly there's no comparison between 500 and 1500 though, that's just a crazy claim. I agree with you Joe.

Wise words about comparing budget with high end products, Joe. It may be uncomfortable to admit that we cannot afford the best, but it's the truth. There are certainly budget offerings that offer a little more than those at the same price point, but there is no way they are equivalent to things that cost two and three times as much.

I bought a Bushnell Elite 2.5-10. I think it's really nice for the price. I shoot 1 MOA with my Tikka and I'm happy. I find the more dials and shit in the window the more thinking you do and less shooting of the game. I love watching these videos and I am in the market for 2 new scopes for a couple rifles I'm building for friends. I think I'll stick with Bushnell, I just like them. Thanks for all the info Cyclops!

i had a 1500 dollar scop tuned out to be the worst one I ever had . the two long range scopes I got now is the UHD 4.5-30x56 34mm power and the Arken 5-25X56 they are pretty darn close biggest difference is the locking turrets verses none and the heat mirage point as far as the innerworkings I could not tell you either way oh and one having more4 magnification but the Arken for 599 now latest price you just cant beat it
I have the Arken SH4 and the Element Helix, both are perfect for my needs. Both probably more than I need.

Absolutely spot on, there is a very clear difference between them, it takes me time to save up but I’d rather wait 6 months and get a top quality optic that I can 100% rely on then go with a lesser quality that I just don’t have the same confidence in, if your just plinking for fun out to a couple hundred yards then yeah you don’t need top tier, but my 2 go to if SHTF rifles yes I invested money both in the gun and the optic so I know every time I pull that trigger it’s going to go bang, and hit where I’m aiming, my .308 AR wears Nightforce and I’m currently saving to upgrade my regular AR to a Kahles or maybe even another NF ATACR lvpo.

There is a diminishing return on dollars spent on optics. When i compare my sig tango 6 6-30x to my ep4 6-24x, while the features are different, my gun shoots just as good with either one at under 400 yards.

Hi Joe, I'm looking for a decent budget scope to put on my Anschutz 54 22LR to shoot 50m. I need good, high magnification - 24x or higher - as I'm shooting for points. I've spent upwards of € 1500 on scopes, but those are on the 300m+ rifles. I'm also an avid gun collector so I need to juggle my way and reach certain compromises when buying stuff. I was thinking of putting a Discovery ED-ELR 5-40X56 SFIR FFP, or if not that maybe the 8-32x. And yes, my budget is under €1,000, ideally closer to €500 in fact (more so now that due to health reasons I'm earning less money). Epik Arms made a decent review of the Discovery ED-PRS 5-25x56, and the comments are quite favourable. I'm still looking around. As I said, shooting 50m, "precision" for points. What's your take? Yea you get what you pay for in most instances. Got my second Arken on the way, one of the LW models to go along with my EP-8. It’s such a cheap optic, I don’t have huge expectations for it, but if it’s like other Arken, it’ll do the job.
not a scope guy so when i built my AR10 for long range shooting i ended up getting an Arken ep 5x25 and that choice came in large part from watching the review of it on this channel. i watched lots of reviews of scopes and Arken just seemed like the best choice. i was not disappointed. this channel is my number 1 go to channel for all things scope reviews.

Budget scopes do not hold zero over time or when they take a half decent bump. I had Chicom scopes for years until I bought a used Trijicon. Do it.
I think a lot of people get confused between true quality and what’s good enough for them to shoot well . If a person is only shooting paper at 50 yards , they likely never adjust the turrets more than a couple clicks. I shoot mostly 50 yds . I have a cheapie Athlon Argos 10-40 second focal plane, and a Cronus 4.5-29 . I like the reticle on the Argos better . So it makes me wonder if the difference spent on the Cronus is worth the difference . Now there’s no contest in build quality or glass clarity on the Cronus . But I really don’t utilize it or miss it at only 50 yards . Stretch it out to 100 and beyond and if you can’t tell the difference you’re right , total re re.
I recently went to an ares 15-60 . I don’t shoot any better with it at 50 , but my eyes don’t fatigue with it but at 100 I shoot a hell of a lot better . I hope you can review that one soon .
There’s no denying you get what you pay for. Some guys just don’t get better by paying more so they think “it’s just as good as”. Kinda like justifying spending less .
I get eye strain with cheaper scopes . Spend a few hours straight behind the gun and it’ll take its toll

The best cheap scope I've bought, by far, is the Athlon Helos BTR gen II 2-12. I've never found anything cheaper worth using.

i have the arken sh4 gen2 and love it! is it as good as a $1500 scope. no. the glass will almost always be better in the higher priced scope. now that being said. is it $1000 better? (you'll have to make up your own minds about that) for me? nope. they won't hit anything with that $1500 scope. i can't hit with my $330 scope. but i'm not a comp shooter. it would be stupid for me to spend that kind of money. my sh4 is good enough for my 500 yard plinking. and what little hunting i do. as long as shitlers in office. we're all on a budget! always enjoy your vids Joe.

I'd be interested to hear what you think is a solid choice for a target rimfire scope bench use not PRS or NRL but shooting groups from the bench in the $1500-2000 range. Not worried about illumination or even minimum focus because it's not going to be used at 10 yds.
I like in cost order the Wweaver t24 , Leupold 45x45 , Nightforce classic with front AO . You can pick those up used for a great price

The $500 scopes are many times as good as the shooter and a better scope doesn't make a difference. I can tell you that I group better with the $2,000 Leupold and Nightforce scopes. There's definitely a difference.

In My Dreams! Actually Never! Simply, I have NO reason to need or want one. I took a stupid pill & bought a low end Trijicon (huron 3-12). Then at the range My wife's Leopold VX-1, 3-9 had a clearer sight picture. Whaat?? for my eyes, a clearer sight picture. Go figure... An inexpensive hunting scope is all I need. We hunt for meat, can't eat horns... Give me a well taken care of Leupold Vari-Xii from late 1980's or 90's and I'll put it on any rifle and it is happy hunting or range time for me...
