Our 92 d250's tailgate suddenly stopped working. Took it apart and discovered one of the plastic clips was broken, ordered the clips from your description. The 3 bolts that hold the latch assembly came out super hard though! Had to go buy a #4 Phillips screwdriver and still stripped the head on the one. Had to drill it out and replace it.

Quick fix-if rods are still attached, but latches don’t travel enough to open the tail gate. Use screwdriver to get the tail gate open. Space out the latch brackets on each side of the tail gate by doing the following…Remove the 2 bolts at latch on the side of the tail gate. Slide a washer in between the latch and the and tail gate itself. It’s easiest to barely start the top bolt with the washer captured between the latch bracket and the tail gate. Use needle nose to hold the washer between the bracket and tailgate to start the lower bolt. By spacing out the latches on each side of the tail gate, you are taking play out of the rods. This is quick and easy to make the tail gate function well without dealing with the rods themselves.

I've picked up a tailgate off a '91 at the Pull a Part to replace the banged up one on my '90. I need to remove the big trim panel to do a color change. How do I remove that panel? My guess is the tailgate you're working on here has the same panel due to the holes in the face of it. Does it simply snap off? Thanks. Good video.

True. The first thing that I done with that truck is fix the headlights cause every time you'd turn em on they would flicker like they wasn't grounded good but I tore out the drinkers side marker light bulb and it fixed it, But I don't have taillights or a left blinker so I'm still grinding that part of it down But I've got no marker lights on any side and reverse light or lights are weak I can barley see anything behind me at night trying to back it up. But your videos are extremely entertaining to watch cause I don't dare touch my engine and it's interesting to see how different things can be done to slightly upgrade the performance and how to fix certain things light the tailgate or doors and stuff light that simple things that make my life better cause I know shes gonna look great and sound better. So thank you .:)

Another great video! I had a broken plastic clip on the right side of the handle, at the time I didn't know how the clips worked. Knowing definitely makes a big difference when working inside the doors. Received my decent first gen stickers the other week, thanks again! Let me know if you ever want to get all the rattle noise out of your doors, I sound deadened mine and placed a couple pieces on the rods in specific places, now the sound like high end auto doors. Really makes a big difference! Nice LE panel!
