    I'm just gonna say it...
    Dauntless Crew is FUCKING AWESOME.
    Now if I don't get banned. I would like to say seeing such a tight family unit today is rare. The way Ty you raised your girls is a what Americans are lacking today. The family unit. Many blessings.

    You guys are awesome! The level of professionalism, attention to detail, thoughtfulness, preparation and safety is refreshing and inspiring. I've been up on my mast quite a bit recently and you are the only ones I've seen besides me that approach that task safely. Your solution is even better than mine. I do use a second, backup chest strap. :)

    Wait till you hear about vacuum infusion. It's just like vac bagging but you lay everything up dry and clean and never have to touch resin at all! (Of course if you screw up then you loose the entire part all at once... but your hair stays clean!)

    If you use a vibrator on the foam after epoxing it down it will pull the epoxy into the foam creating a more solid foam and a better adhesion.

    And old sailor here. Good progress. Innovative mold
    I have an idea for catamaran safety. Mount a large diameter like 3ft inflatable tube between the inner hill and underwing both sides of the boat.. Tube should be 12 to 15 ft long
    Uninflated tube should be rolled up inside a long storage bag which opens when large tube is inflated
    Inflation of large tube could be with life raft canister or SCUBA bottle and inflation tube bottle could be stored in engine room or aft storage locker
    If catamaran suffers severe grounding inflate both tubes to keep boat floating above floorboards

    • @michaelhicks8867
      @michaelhicks8867 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Saw something like that in an Aussie sailing video a year or more ago I think they used one of those inflatable float "balloons" that are used to lift wrecks from the seabed for salvage. I think that it is a great idea.

    Looks like the boat yard is amping up the pressure to get rid of you guys. This is going to be an epic boat repair when done. Not sure how you guys learned how to do all of this but you are getting it done in spades. I think your best bet with the boat yard is to let them know the schedule for departure and any setbacks along the way. I am sure they are afraid you will be there all winter.

    As for your guys progress, I can only say that you are all an inspiration to anyone else out there. well done and keep up the good spirit!!!

      There is a channel called Barefoot Sail and Dive cannot remember where their boatyard is but the things they have had done to them by their boatyard makes this one seem like a saint.. Including locked out of the yard let back in and told they can repair their boat then not, then got a team in at their recommendation just before being locked out. Being told they cannot even work on their hardtop. They have alluded too much worse but they are still in country so not making any detailed vlogs about it apparently guns were drawn.

    I was thinking about your mould and how it is "Off" slightly. Of course the only way to get an exact mould would be from Leopard and I hope yours will be in the close enough for government work category. I am going to guess that it is a combination of the foam manufacturers tolerances being off slightly (If you were even able to supply them with the exact dimensions) and also when you tightened the foam together.

    It hurts to watch you breaking the part out of the mold. Try a whole bunch of little wedges once you've got the big ones started, work your way around the perimeter sticking the small wedges in. Pound each in just enough to get the next one started. It spreads the stress out along the entire edge better.
