I for sure think u were overwhelmed with ty leaving, the heat/AC, n ur shingles was a bit much. I hope u got better sooner then later n everything is going good.
Kim, you did an amazing job. You poor lady getting shingles in the middle of all that and it figures right when Ty leaves, but you took care of it and your community helped. God bless him. I’m glad everything worked out for you. It was a great episode by the way, you wasn’t probably the most comfortable, but you did awesome.
I love how you guys share so much of the struggles and triumphs of boat life. For us that would love to be doing it ourselves. Because this is kind of educational and we can know from your experience how you get things done or fixed. Some don’t say much about the struggles, but I love to see it and like to know that these things happen, if it is often or not. But I am sure it was misery with no a/c, I too live close to the water so I am no stranger to 99+ temps and like 100% humidity. My Mom had shingles and yes they are miserable in the heat. So I feel for ya there. Hope things go well for ya the rest of the time Ty will be gone.
When Ty gets back we are going to be continuing on the Air Con/Seachest project which does include something just like that! He just didn't have time to get to it before he left...stay tuned😎
Kim, a little help smell wise, get some Vicks Vapour rub ( if they have it in the US) or something similar. Put a couple of dolps in each nostrils. Ex father in law a homicide police officer, always used it when visiting a deceased crime scene.
Kim hi from Alberta, Canada. You rock way to take charge you did awesome !!!!. Give yourself credit for taking care of a very complex repair. Sorry to hear about the Shingles hoping its done with very soon. Enjoy your AC. Thanks for having us.
Great job under duress! Just a note on shingles…they say it is not contagious as long as the person you are in close contact has had chicken pox. When my husband got shingles I had had chicken pox so we didn’t worry about contagiousness. A month later I developed symptoms and went to the doctor immediately. I had shingles and was prescribed anti virals which worked great. I barely noticed my case. We don’t know for sure if I caught them from him but they were on my hand which is really unusual. I had helped him with topical meds on his back. Just so you are aware.
I read the same that it's only contagious if the person you are close to has not had chicken pox. I was careful not to let anyone touch me (I applied all my own topical meds). All my marina mates have been fine and it has been over 3 months since my outbreak. I'm really hoping it stays that way!! Thanks for sharing your experience
We have several portable fans on board and I never once mentally stepped away from the problem to even consider getting one! Definitely will think about ALL the tools to make a project easier😎
I am so proud that you soldiered on to address the problems while battling Shingles. I remember that being one of the most difficult and challenging condition I ever went through. I NEVER want Shingles again. You rock!
My dad had shingles, so did my mother in law as well as a buddy of mine. I saw the hell they went through and the pain involved,. When my doctor suggested getting the shingles vaccine I said "there is a shingles vaccine, give me the vaccine".
Kim RESPEKT!
know your discomfort my sisters had chicken pox when we were all young I missed out and fifty years later then had shingles five times in the last ten years
Oooo! I am So sorry you have the shingles. I had the shingles and it lasted over 8 Months. So I do know your pain. Ok hope you get over the shingles sooner than later. And hope the boat gets finished someday. Until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha
Can you guys' anti-foul the grates in the seachest? I bet this is going to keep happening :( You did great FWIW, if you have to do it again I bet you'll be way more confident. Cleaning that yuck is no fun for sure. BTW, seems high stress can trigger Shingles, heat likely not great either. The vax for it is a PITA but after seeing someone I know suffer I got it ASAP!
We actually do. In fact, we checked it 4 days prior right before Ty left and all was just fine. The small piece of fuel cell foam caused all the problems. Not sure how we missed it before he left, but problem is solved now😎
I really want to know what happened to that pump. My bet is it was making gas pressure from the motor being hurt, ether from getting hot when it jammed up or having a seal get damaged and getting some water leaking in the drive section. Good job Kim. I cleaned a barge once and it made me not want seafood for about a year. so gross.
So I don't have a boat but used to have salt water fish tanks. The first time I had to clean the filter I remember that smell and thought maybe this was just too much. Over time you get used to the smell and it doesn't seem as bad! (several years)
Hi Kim, great job lady. The next time you need to clean that chest, try a little Vick's around your nostrils, they also have other balms readily available, but Vicks is cheap and does the job..
I have thought about an addition to your system for some time... have you looked into ElectroSea? This is essentially the same system used in pools but for the closed system within your boat... should keep the sea chest a lot cleaner and keep you from having to barnacle bust all the ACs.
Welcome to our generation, although you two could be our kids. Its the chicken pox kids thst all have to deal with Shingles. We have both had the shingles vaccine. A good move for anyone who had chicken pox Glad you got the ac working. We love just north of Orlando so we feel your pain with summer heat. Have faith, October is coming
Great job Kim, as Ty said it a boat as most owners know it is a hole in the water which one throws money into. Happy all things turn up Cool 🥳🥶🥳and you back to the Happy parts of Boater's life.
I’m kinda concerned. You have active shingles, which is highly contagious, and are around all these people! Asking people to come on to your boat, going to hooker electric and whatnot. I’m an RN and there’s 3 “normal” conditions a pt can have when I am overly cautious. TB, shingles and bedbugs.
For the record, I didn't ask anyone for help, except for Ty via phone! The boating community around me, being fully aware of my condition, made the personal decision to help me and take the stress of the situation away and jump in while Ty was thousands of miles away.
I wouldn't typically respond to a comment like this. However, in this case, I feel as though maybe you need some clarification to understand my reaction. First, I have shingles, which is incredibly painful because it is not just an itchy rash. It also affects the nerves. As a result, by themselves, they can be so. debilitating. At this time in Florida, we are experiencing real feel temperatures well over 100F. Sun exposure and sweat are triggers for even greater pain. Now my air con has gone out in the middle of the night in an already difficult time to sleep. With every passing hour, the hotter it gets outside, the hotter it gets inside, the hotter and sweatier I am so even more pain and discomfort. The domino of problems with the pump/seachest, the fact that our system is unlike anything else if our class of boat which means not just anyone can jump in the bilge and take care of it, the rising temperatures, lack of sleep, physical pain from shingles, and my partner being 1000+ miles away...I think I'm entitled to a little beakdown. I didn't have to share any of it, but I did. I don't think it's very appropriate for you to pass judgement or to tell me to calm down.
Kim, you handled it like a champ. I hope your shingles reside quickly. Shingles is so unfair, it’s painful and just plain uncomfortable. Best to you.
I for sure think u were overwhelmed with ty leaving, the heat/AC, n ur shingles was a bit much. I hope u got better sooner then later n everything is going good.
Way to go and to do it with shingles is a major kudo to you. Having had shingles i know how bad it can be.
Thanks!! It definitely made the air con and pump problem more stressful, but I got it figured out and made it through!!
Thank you so much!
Good job Kim it be interesting to see what's up with old pump
Shingles, yuk! Nice job Kim. Better tell Ty to get his shingles vaccine.
Great job overcoming the mechanical and physical challenges solo!! 👏👏
that was a good experience thanks for sharing
I love how you guys share so much of the struggles and triumphs of boat life. For us that would love to be doing it ourselves. Thanks!! We really enjoy sharing ALL the adventure!
Wow ! You Rock 😊
Can use that strap wrench to open screw on bottle lids as well
Maybe a quick disconnect in the electrical power supply line so it doesn't wrap when servicing or replacing would make your life a little easier.
When Ty gets back we are going to be continuing on the Air Con/Seachest project which does include something just like that! He just didn't have time to get to it before he left...stay tuned😎
I've had one of those strap wrenches in my kitchen drawer for almost 40 years, it's fantastic for opening jars and bottles too 😍
They are THE BEST! Seriously use them for everything! Underestimated tool in my opinion! Happy to hear someone else thinks so too!!😎
Hang in there my mother had shingles. I know it’s not great so keep being the boss you are and take care of yourself. ❤
Thanks!❤️😎
You need a fan in tight places it really helps with the fumes and the heat blowing in the area fresh air 😅
Kim, a little help smell wise, get some Vicks Vapour rub ( if they have it in the US) or something similar.
Put a couple of dolps in each nostrils.
Ex father in law a homicide police officer, always used it when visiting a deceased crime scene.
That is an EXCELLENT idea! I'll definitely have that in the tool line-up for cleaning the seachest in the future!
Awesome job clearing that seachest! Thanks for sharing your struggles as well as your triumphs - this is one of the main reasons I watch your channel!
I appreciate that!
You are awsome
Kim, I admire you so much for taking on this blue job and doing it like a boss!! WOO HOO!!
Thank you!!!❤️❤️❤️
Great job, Kim! You got this! All the best!
Thanks!
Oh Kim, I'm (Geri) so sorry to hear about the Shingles! Great job trouble shooting the AC issue, you're my hero!
Awww...❤️❤️
❤

Sorry to hear about the Shingles hoping its done with very soon.

Thanks for having us.
Thanks so much! It was a stressful situation for sure, but I made it out the other side!😎

Hey girl great work.. you need a Arctic cove battery fan.. 2 setting with a mister hose. $ 65.oo home depot or amazon..
You rock!
Thank you!! I hope I never get them again too😎
The power of women! Congratulations!
Would a pre-seachest strainer help?
Well done....No ya know.....Awesome
My dad had shingles, so did my mother in law as well as a buddy of mine. I saw the hell they went through and the pain involved,. When my doctor suggested getting the shingles vaccine I said "there is a shingles vaccine, give me the vaccine".

Thank you so much! We will definitely be going back to that area in the future...hope to meet you❤️
Great to see you on a boat moving through the water, Ty! Hope your shingles resolve quickly, Kim. Blessed be. ❤
Thanks so much❤️❤️
know your discomfort my sisters had chicken pox when we were all young I missed out and fifty years later then had shingles five times in the last ten years
I'm so sorry! It is not something I wish for anyone to have to experience!!!
Wow doing all that with Shingles in that heat 👍
Kim, good on you. On top of having shingles, wow. Cheers
Oooo! I am So sorry you have the shingles.
I had the shingles and it lasted over 8 Months. So I do know your pain.

Kim you the best
Awww...❤️❤️
Master Yoda said in so many words. You are capable of doing anything. You just need to believe in yourself and do it. Safe trip Ty. Happy Sailing ⛵
So true❤️
Great job!
Been in that type of situation too many times.
Sounds like a great team
Thanks!❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this... it could not have ben ez...
Full disclosure...it sucked, but I made it through and lived to tell the tale😎🤣❤️
👍✅👏
Perhaps you need to check the sea chest at least on a monthly basis, when using the AC at the amount it is used at present.
We actually do. In fact, we checked it 4 days prior right before Ty left and all was just fine. The small piece of fuel cell foam caused all the problems. Not sure how we missed it before he left, but problem is solved now😎
RE: Seachest; No Ma'm Kim! I gagged legit.
It was something special!!! I guess it's a good thing we don't have smell-0-vision🤣😎
One of my favorite channels! Can you paint the inside of the seachest with an antifoulling paint to minimize the growth?
That is a very interesting suggestion...🤫
I really want to know what happened to that pump. My bet is it was making gas pressure from the motor being hurt, ether from getting hot when it jammed up or having a seal get damaged and getting some water leaking in the drive section. I hope to keep it on the "blue job" list🤣🤣🤣
@@SailingDauntless is the other job list pink? :)
This is no longer just a blue job!
Oh Rick, it will ALWAYS be a blue job! But at least I don't fear it as much now, and I definitely know how to troubleshoot problems in the future🤣❤️😎
Hi Kim, great job lady. The next time you need to clean that chest, try a little Vick's around your nostrils, they also have other balms readily available, but Vicks is cheap and does the job..
That is an EXCELLENT suggestion! I will absolutely add that to the list of tools for that job!!
copper mesh put in sea chest may help to slow down marine forna and flora . or coppercote the in bilt metal meshs
My 4 sisters keep reminding me that they're moms and can handle anything. It looks like you're in the same camp.
Thank you!!❤️❤️❤️
I have thought about an addition to your system for some time... have you looked into ElectroSea? This is essentially the same system used in pools but for the closed system within your boat... should keep the sea chest a lot cleaner and keep you from having to barnacle bust all the ACs.
Is that a digital torque wrench. If so brand/
It is a digital torque wrench! Got it on Amazon...a.co/d/aJAxl2v
Montenegro is the best place in the Adriatic
It was an amazing adventure! Ty and I will definitely be back!!
Welcome to our generation, although you two could be our kids. Its the chicken pox kids thst all have to deal with Shingles. We have both had the shingles vaccine. It was brutal heat very early in the season for sure! Stay cool❤️
😄😄😄😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job Kim, as Ty said it a boat as most owners know it is a hole in the water which one throws money into. Happy all things turn up Cool 🥳🥶🥳and you back to the Happy parts of Boater's life.
Shengols suck I feel for you

What the hell are you crying for? Are you serious? It is an air conditioning system that has an issue. Calm down, these people are so crazy
I wouldn't typically respond to a comment like this. However, in this case, I feel as though maybe you need some clarification to understand my reaction. New Fear Unlocked! -- Ty Left Me & the A/C QUIT! - Click Bait $hit, I'm out.
Did you watch the whole thing? It was not click bait imo.
Glad you are gone. You probably smell worse than what she had to clean up.
Stop being so over dramatic that doesn’t solve anything
