Using the Design Process to Build a Dulcimer Side-Bending Jig

  • This is a relatively short video illustrating my creation of a side-bending jig for constructing Appalachian Mountain dulcimers. I made the video to accompany the Houghton Mifflin 2nd grade Science textbook, Unit 2 -- Technology and Our World. As a woodworker and dulcimer builder, I wanted to show my 2nd grade students the Design Process (as introduced in their textbook) in a real-world application.

    Very neat and ingenious! Im not joking when I say thanks for explaining so my second grade mentality could understand it! I really like the simplicity of this and the way it functions. Thanks for sharing this!!!!!

    How long were the aluminum poles?

      The aluminum tubes were 6" long.
