OFFICIAL MEA CULPA: There are two settings discussed in this video that are absolutely WRONG! Yes, even I make mistakes... sometimes those little decimals are so hard to see after looking at numbers too long.. but are OOOOHHHH so important. The setting for RESOURCE REPLENTISHMENT should be .5 not 5 (you can make it lower if you want resources to spawn even more often) and the BABY LOSE IMPRINT time that I have as 40 should be .40 (again, smaller number increases the time it takes for babies to lose imprints during maturation). My apologies for any confusion.
I’m so glad I watched your video! I didn’t realize that tamed Dino hp and damage needed to be lower than one, but I realized when my lvl 162 raptor was doing 400 damage. 😅
Those settings came from months of trial and error back on ASE. Im glad to see that they are working for you. Bonus on SE, if you get a wyvern egg with a decent level, it will raise up without milk or a pig. Just test it out before you use it on your prize egg. Sometimes ASE translations onto ASA are a bit janky.

Not played Ark before and just got Ascended. This was huge help thanks.I'm an 'older gamer' over 70 now so went for easy peazy mode just to have fun building, learning etc without scaring the hell out of myself. I whacked just once a Brontosaurus to get its head out of a hole i was building over to block, I thought it was stuck! It wasnt and stalked me wanting to kill me for a few days searching and doing its hardest to break through the hole if it spotted me. Is that normal? Was quite cool actually. Anyway thanks for your easy guide and all the explanations as to what they meant. Most helpful.

There are some very cool mods out already that Im running on the OG server that makes for some very interesting builds that people have done. Honestly, I enjoy hosting servers as much to watch what others come up with as to play myself. Come on out to the OG server if you like, info is in my discord (linked in the description). Its PVE and there is a great group playing that is always willing to help out new folks.

@@OldGamerzNeverDie I did have 2 issues in my SP, not really related to the settings you talked about: 1. In the keyboard commands menu, I always set one gamma setting (for bright scenes) on F2, and the other (for darkness) on F3. Neither of those is working, and though I finally figured out how to open the command input and I can type in gamma 3 (for example) and it works, the shortcut keys still don't work. I made sure that "Disable gamma" says No and I tried in PVE and PVP. Any ideas? 2. Floating rocks - which I figured out was because I disabled the foliage/water interaction; also the 3 numbers under that setting need to be "1" apparently.
Was watching one of your older Atlas videos. You mentioned wanting a game similar to Atlas but in space. Emperyion Galactic Survival might interrest you.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have played Emperyion off and on over the years. Its fun.. but Im never sure if the devs have abandoned it or not. After a pretty big update this year, I had a server running with it... they've made some improvements, but was still bugging out for everyone toward the endgame. Hope to see it get the wrinkles worked out, as it was a fun game to play.
Not sure on PS5, but the Save button for PC is kinda smaller and tucked over on the bottom left. Make sure to hit that before leaving the screens where you make changes. Also, feel free to come by the OG Discord, lots of help there, and the server is set for cross play 😁
Been seeing this as a known issue with both Xbox and PS5. Latespatch info says they are putting out a fix, so hopefully it comes soon. People are losing both their game saves as well as settings saved. I'd keep checking updates to get the fix as soon as it's implemented.
Some will still take up to 3 imprints... Theriz, Wyverns, and if I remember right potentially a Quetz... then it looks like they will be adding more critters.. so there may be more once Scorched comes out.
For some reason when i set the harvest yield (i put at 10) it doesnt change how much i get in game for some reason is this a bug? Or am i missing something.
@@zulerisgaming8523 If you are comfortable checking your ini's, look for the harvest setting in your game.ini. I have found that updates have occasionally added a line in there for harvest rates as well as max difficulty that nullifies what you set in the settings screen. If you are concerned with making those kinds of adjustments, drop by the OG discord (link in vid description) and either myself or one of the regulars can likely assist in finding the abberant gremlin in your files.
True, thats another lever to pull. For most folks taming speed is easier to dial in, but its using a hammer to drive a screw. Adjusting food drain at the same time is using the screw driver. Thanks for the call out :)
Do you know how to make the wild dino level set to increments of 5 like official servers? I followed these settings, and it's still in increments of 2 for whatever reason.
Did you do a dino wipe after changing these settings (Difficulty offset to 1 and Enabling Max Difficulty)? If not, you will still see the old numbers showing up until all those dinos are replaced with the new settings. For single player, hit the tilde key ~ and type "enablecheats", then type "cheat destroywilddinos" (without the quotation marks) That will wipe all wild dinos off the map and the new ones that spawn should be in increments of 5.
@OldGamerzNeverDie i did do that, unfortunately. Im also on xbox if that makes a difference, but i still have that option to wipe the map in the admin settings. I do have it running in the Non-dedicated server option as opposed to single player. I did check it in single player and still had the same level issues. I appreciate any help you have lol. This has always been to worst part to set up in Ark servers.
@OldGamerzNeverDie nvm it looks like its working now. I didnt change anything but i kept wiping dinos. I guess it works within a certain range and doesnt wipe the entire map or something? Idk maybe its bugged but its definitely working now. Thank you for the help

I have had an issue with the max player xp. I raised it when the game first came out, and now I am not gaining any levels past level 85. I have tried lowering it, but I still am not leveling up.PS:( My dino setting is the same but they still gain xp and level up).
What have you lowered it to? The default is 0 and that lets you level up as high as possible without Explorer Notes and chibis. If you set a different number in the Max XP, then that is as high as your character can go. Let me know what number you have in there now and I may be able to help.
I'm waiting to hopefully get another PS5 controller so I can play with my friend I have a PS4 controller but it doesn't let me use it because it's a "PS5 game" even though the only thing that's different is the haptics so there's not really a point to only use a PS5 controller
I like how you said the music is awful, yet u have the music fullblast in this video which is very annoying trying to listen to you but we have the music way to high to even hear what you are saying, which is quite annoying.
Sorry to hear that as a problem. I try to adjust the volume when recording so that the music is much lower than my voice. I'll work at doing a better job going forward.

It comes to the video it's self on TH-cam. It always ends up being louder then the persons voice. So please turn it off it very very down. I my self don't use in game music. My last short I had to redub music over because I had no volume at all on my voice and I had the in game music completely turned off. One comment here, Default is Hard, this dificulty thing is terribly missleading, "hard" is medium, "medium" is a fair lot easier and "easy" is full casual walk in the park. I like that you explains all the stuff, but you should first choose defauld dificulty cause playing on easier ("normal") kinda throw people off of the actual average settings
LOL, also, you turn single player settings off saying its a boost you don't want but you also crank everything up, like, everything, lol wouldn't it be easier to leave everything normal ("hard") and turn single player settings on? I'll test this one myself, LOL

Fair point. I tried to let people know that the game difficulty button is more of an easy button to either get you going without adjusting any settings, or give you a base line to tweak from. You are correct that the feature is actually incredibly misleading. On my Svartalheim playthrough Ive skipped that feature all together and set everything up manually, but then I set it to be something I can accomplish on stream rather than taking 3 game days to do, but I tried to highlight that as well.
@@blavena Could be.. but I find that Single Player toggle impacts things I dont see in the settings across the board. I try to give directions in the vid on what going up or down impacts. Will be interested to see how your experiment turns out :)
I believe some of these settings are incorrect. Like you having Resource Respawn Interval set to 5 is actually making it 5x longer for things to respawn back in. Also you made your babies lose their imprints 40x faster lol.
Interesting, I've been running those settings for years and never had those issues. Could be a difference in Nitrado vs GPortal, and/or ASE vs ASA. I'll go back and check. Thanks for pointing this out. I appreciate it.

Are you hitting the Save button on the exit screen? I find that if I dont do that.. it drops me back to an autosave point that Ive never set in SP. I do have it set in my OG server.. for 15 min.. so that may be what its defaulting to. But I find that when I actually hit the SAVE button on the screen with the QUIT option, it puts me back to where I left off.
Ya I’m manually saving. Then I wait about a minute and exit to main menu. I keep loosing all my progress and it’s really killing the experience for me.. it was fine until the update yesterday

I dont disagree with you on that point. Thats why I wanted to make this video so people could make the game play the way they want to play.. hard.. for the grinders, easy for the casuals, and lots of things to do in the middle for those who just like to have fun. Hope you find your sweet spot.

Instead of lowering the volume for music i would just eliminate the Menu music all together Via Advanced > Middle Section> Disable Menu Music.

You messed up with the creature settings. Check again to make sure it's the settings you want for THE CREATURES not yourself.

I dont disagree with you on that point. Thats why I wanted to make this video so people could make the game play the way they want to play.. hard.. for the grinders, easy for the casuals, and lots of things to do in the middle for those who just like to have fun. Hope you find your sweet spot.

@@theD0D0ByRd I had a stroke about 10 years ago (the 2nd of 3 that Ive had) I guess I can say that "fortunately" the only thing I lost permanently with my hearing in my right ear. Hence the name of my channel :)
