I’ve always been curious to see an experienced TH-camr take on this challenge, and wow did it impress! I have a lot of admiration for all the hard work you’ve done over the past few years (especially for this video), and I’m hopeful for this challenge to thrive more in the future, for your channel, and for all the new TH-camrs who have taken this opportunity to get themselves out there. Thank you for representing the ARK community so well over the years, and it was the gallimimus all along
Just to realise that this video was 1:31:00 and I didn’t even notice due to how invested I was in the video really shows how much of an amazing ark TH-camr you are syntac keep playing ark your videos are pretty much the only reason I come on TH-cam anymore and I love them
This really shows people knowledge in a game. By day 2: he tamed something, built a bridge, made a crossbow. Hell day 1 he killed a boss made spears. Me on Day 1- constantly dying to everything, including fallen leaves
I'm amazed how you do a lot of things and get lots of resources in less than 10 days, yeah you probably tweaked the settings to get longer days ( I didn't check the settings ) but still, very impressive, I learned lot of things and I am at the first 40min of gameplay, respect my man
For anyone who wants a PT saddle early: Don't kill carbos/turtles for keratin, kill trilobites for chitin You can typically find these at south zone one's cove area on the beach or a few meters of the river bank in the water (harvest trilobites with your hatchet)
If you go up to the southern metal hill or hang around the area inland of the beach you will inevitably run into meganeura or titanomyrma and I can almost always harvest a PT's worth of chitin off of two groups of them.
It was the Gallimimus all along and I knew it. Watching this video made me start a new game after about a year of not playing ARK, so I would say thank you, but I am not sure that's a good thing haha.

@@davidordonez8857 I meant people who say he’s a bad at the game (also he’s not a noob, he’s amongst the oldest veterans) He’s actually really good in pvp as well if you’ve seen some of his pvp series. He just prefers to enjoy the game which and Pve always lets you enjoy the actual game better.

So, for those who didnt know: at 40:09 the reason there was no sap was because you have to check the inventory of sap taps/oil pumps before they will produce(most often done right after placing them). Pretty sure its a bug, but its been like that for years. So hopefully this will info will be helpful. :)
This video was somehow recommended on my TH-cam, even though I'd never played Ark or watched any Ark videos previously. I've watched it through all the way and it led me to purchasing the game to try it out... and I'm now hooked! Really cool video and thanks for helping me get started in Ark :D
@@aneeel Man, I totally get it with the patience thing. Honestly, every time I think I'm starting to get the hang of it and do well, a curveball is thrown at me. I've died a hundred dozen times already, lost gear, had dozens of tamed dinos murdered by rampaging alphas that I didn't take care of when I should have... definitely a learning curve to this game fo sho
@@sethious1 that’s kinda what this game is about. Exploration and conquering. I like to try and figure how things work out by myself first and then search up on YT if I’m really stuck

The sap taps don’t have to be rendered (I don’t think), rather they just have an odd glitch that makes you have to open their inventory once before they start collecting. Guess it’s too late now, but felt like leaving this info anyway!
Can't believe I just watched an hour and a half of ark straight through. Fantastic video Syn, loved that you actually attempted to beat the game instead of just hiding in a hut to wait out the timer like I would have.

Just happened to see this and started watching. Heard about the game but never seen or played it but damn was this a great video. Witty, fun, informative, tense and just a great overall narration. I was intrigued at everything you were doing but had no idea what the hell was going on but still watched to the end. And god damn, Epic is giving it away free today lol.

That's a LOT more than 100 days. That'd have to be a series. Even if you're great at the game, getting good enough gear to solo caves and bosses takes lots of grinding, breeding, etc if you play unmodded ark with vanilla settings. Maybe with a small group of friends.
I'm following you and watching your videos for years now and I was so excited to see you trying this challenge. Most of the TH-camrs trying this are often not so experienced in Ark and man you really delivered. Awesome Job getting this far and it was the gallimimus all along and I knew it.

never played ARK, and enjoyed every second watching you play it, the editing was amazing, it was like watching a movie, it was amazing! thanks alot for this 1h31 minute of pure entertainment.
you should play it if you haven’t since it’s been 4 months but iv played it since it came out for console! and it’s a very fun game you should try it out!
A few tips to before the halfway mark: 1) Harvest chitinous stuff with moschops, its gets incredible amounts of chitin from e.g. trilobites 2) you don't have to keep sap taps rendered, but you have to access their inventory once to start collecting sap.
For any new hardcore players, syntax didn’t eat the organic polymer because it gives a ton of broken buffs. So while your fighting a spin-off or a boss, pop an organic polymer and just truck everything.
Loved the "ultimate ark" references, and I loved how this was much more casual and less of a grind. Awesome video! Oh and it was the gallimimus all along and I knew it!
I never got into Ark because of the learning curve, I gave up. Watching this however was amazing, what an absolute treasure trove of awesome content. The time you spent on this is well worth it for me, I loved this, and gobbled it all up.

I mean i get it with better breeding rates like the one he usually has he could spend literal days in game just breeding and it wouldn't really put his life in any danger. But i will say he should shorten them at least for Scorched Earth or Abberation which only has one boss to serve as the finale

My dude, you killed it! Twice now I've been blown away at how amazing of a 100 day hardcore challenge you did! I watched this thing twice back to back, it was that good!
For him its just quality of life to have those, but he proves that he can play without it! Don't burn him for using them because Ark is incredibly stressful sometimes.
Bit of advice for taming things like allos, make a 2x2 foundation with doorframes around it two blocks high, and a wooden ramp leading into it. Lure them up the ramp and down into the box and then run through the doorframes, or just lure them in by flying up the ramp on an argy or something which is safer. They are now trapped and you can kill whichever ones you like and tame the rest. Consider throwing down some wooden spikes around the pen in a decent size circle to stop anything annoying from disrupting the taming process.
This video, and the rest of your wonderful content, got me back into ark! Currently trying to attempt my own ultimate ark run! Thank you for making so much awesome content and I can't wait to see what you do next!
I've been having the "itch" for two weeks to play Ark again after uninstalling it for a second time about 5 months ago. After watching your series of Island, Scorched, and Abberation, I have satisfied my itch and reinstalled the game to play single player and actually commit to beating each map.
@@Threaopolieze he had a tek skin on his cloth armor. It’s just a cosmetic thing. Idk why you keep commenting this and the harvesting definitely wasn’t boosted but the xp was but everyone does that for 100 days videos so he could get to lvl 100 in time. I guess you either don’t know much about Ark or your just not very good.
@@caboose6411 Nope, i play like, today and with a lvl60 char i deal 167 (For what i can remember) with a hs against a same lvl pte but with the difficulty lvl on 1.0, so is very clear that he reduces the dificulty. Not a true "Hardcore" run.
Syntac. With the sap taps I've noticed that they will never collect any sap until you open their inventory at least once after placing them. They'll produce sap regardless if you're in the area or not, just as long as the world is actively running, not paused or offline.
@@certi.mello1 try looking for an anky/ankylosaurus. sometimes it depends on what map your on for them to spawn. in some free dlc maps they could spawn in the green grasslands near the mountains.but if your playing on the island try checking the mountains near the volcano.hope this helped :>

It was the galimimus all along, i knew it. And on top of that it snuck up on you. Didn't even know they spawned there. Besides that, i would recommend decreasing breeding interval for the next one, to make it reasonable to at least attempt alpha bosses and maybe the growth time too, as that would have allowed you to get theris for the dragon. Other than that i really enjoyed this one, and i think the best way to do more would be to go in story progession ( so scorched, aberration, extinction and gen 1/2).
The editing made this so much more enjoyable. I’m excited for if/when he makes another, hopefully on Scorched. Edit: It was the Gallimimus all along and I knew it!

This reminds me of my first time playing ark my first ever tame was a meg that was somewhere around level 50 and I ended up keeping it alive and happy until it was at like 200 it was my oldest friend
This reminded me of the first time I had ever played ark, but also had never watched anyone play it before, so I was basically going in blind, and I have to say, I was super happy of my first tame which was a Dilophosaurus, I nearly cried when he was killed by a raptor not far from The Island first easy sarting area

Melee damage is directly related to how fast you harvest.
I have like 1300 hours in ark, and all I've learned is that this game will eat your soul, and you'll be too happy to notice

Bug Swarms in the jungles around South 2 are also an easy source of chitin if you carry around a pike and just keep jabbing up.

I'm following you and watching your videos for years now and I was so excited to see you trying this challenge. Most of the TH-camrs trying this are often not so experienced in Ark and man you really delivered. Awesome Job getting this far and it was the gallimimus all along and I knew it.

Rewatching these videos after my ark phase comes back like every once in a while is so nostalgic 😭
A few tips to before the halfway mark:
1) Harvest chitinous stuff with moschops, its gets incredible amounts of chitin from e.g. trilobites
2) you don't have to keep sap taps rendered, but you have to access their inventory once to start collecting sap.
For any new hardcore players, syntax didn’t eat the organic polymer because it gives a ton of broken buffs. So while your fighting a spin-off or a boss, pop an organic polymer and just truck everything.

I never got into Ark because of the learning curve, I gave up.
Watching this however was amazing, what an absolute treasure trove of awesome content.
The time you spent on this is well worth it for me, I loved this, and gobbled it all up.
You can increase it to make it easier to lvl up .
It’s pretty straight forward. Think logical and the game out of nowhere will become more fun to play.

I mean i get it with better breeding rates like the one he usually has he could spend literal days in game just breeding and it wouldn't really put his life in any danger. But i will say he should shorten them at least for Scorched Earth or Abberation which only has one boss to serve as the finale

For him its just quality of life to have those, but he proves that he can play without it! Don't burn him for using them because Ark is incredibly stressful sometimes.

Bit of advice for taming things like allos, make a 2x2 foundation with doorframes around it two blocks high, and a wooden ramp leading into it. Lure them up the ramp and down into the box and then run through the doorframes, or just lure them in by flying up the ramp on an argy or something which is safer. They are now trapped and you can kill whichever ones you like and tame the rest. Consider throwing down some wooden spikes around the pen in a decent size circle to stop anything annoying from disrupting the taming process.

I've been having the "itch" for two weeks to play Ark again after uninstalling it for a second time about 5 months ago. After watching your series of Island, Scorched, and Abberation, I have satisfied my itch and reinstalled the game to play single player and actually commit to beating each map.

Idk why you keep commenting this and the harvesting definitely wasn’t boosted but the xp was but everyone does that for 100 days videos so he could get to lvl 100 in time. I guess you either don’t know much about Ark or your just not very good.

against a same lvl pte but with the difficulty lvl on 1.0, so is very clear that he reduces the dificulty. Not a true "Hardcore" run.

Syntac. With the sap taps I've noticed that they will never collect any sap until you open their inventory at least once after placing them. They'll produce sap regardless if you're in the area or not, just as long as the world is actively running, not paused or offline.

@@certi.mello1 try looking for an anky/ankylosaurus. sometimes it depends on what map your on for them to spawn. in some free dlc maps they could spawn in the green grasslands near the mountains.but if your playing on the island try checking the mountains near the volcano.hope this helped :>

It was the galimimus all along, i knew it. And on top of that it snuck up on you. Didn't even know they spawned there.
Besides that, i would recommend decreasing breeding interval for the next one, to make it reasonable to at least attempt alpha bosses and maybe the growth time too, as that would have allowed you to get theris for the dragon. Other than that i really enjoyed this one, and i think the best way to do more would be to go in story progession ( so scorched, aberration, extinction and gen 1/2).
Not gonna lie I am extremely impressed how far you managed to make it in those 100 days solo. Keep up the amazing work!

This reminds me of my first time playing ark my first ever tame was a meg that was somewhere around level 50 and I ended up keeping it alive and happy until it was at like 200 it was my oldest friend
is it 6 ft under? or 6 ft above?
My first tame was a lvl 40 sarco it took ages with club he died at lvl 160 to lvl 210 meg

This reminded me of the first time I had ever played ark, but also had never watched anyone play it before, so I was basically going in blind, and I have to say, I was super happy of my first tame which was a Dilophosaurus, I nearly cried when he was killed by a raptor not far from The Island first easy sarting area
