Absolutely. I think most people have found it refreshing that Gunn presented a diverse and interesting slate of well-considered stories rather than the vanilla approach.
Where there’s passion you’ll breed zealots. Most of us Snyder fans are not too crazy. The Authority are gonna take us to the Bleed and through that the multiverse. Hope lives in the multiverse. Can’t wait for more DC
I’m a huge Snyder fan too and I’m also extremely excited about this new era. First and foremost I’m a DC fan, Snyder’s stuff appealed to me because of its incredible artistic expression that mirrored what I’ve seen in the comics. This looks to honor that as well. I’m very much looking forward to these projects
Gunn loves the comics and I respect so much that he made a point of saying that they will honour director and writer visions, and our story first. Really good signs!
Both ZSJL, and The Suicide Squad are two of my top 5 DC movies ever. Call me crazy but I simply love DC, and both director's visions. Also keen for the different director's Gunn/Safran bring in (I'm hearing Mangold and Affleck?!)
@@chinmaykulkarni7835 I love that film. I should admit, it took me two watches to fully appreciate. I remember enjoying it in the theatre but feeling a tad left down, then watching again at home I loved it away more. I should totally do a video on it, will plan one out.
I’m not gonna lie just this small portion of the new slate while Great also felt pretty tame by Gunn’s standards so that just begs the question of what kinda crazy stuff is he not showing us that’s gonna be in Chapter 1
I think it‘a all Ben g very strategic to get this first announcement out, then surprise with some bigger stuff later. Even still, some great nuggets like Batman and Supergirl in here to delight people. Also think Gunn made a point of getting the *bad news* over with first, hence leading with the Cavill is out news months before this announcement.
I know, it seems like a big jump (and I especially don't love that it means that because Superman is young then Damian and Jon Kent won't meet at the same age as Super Sons). But! I think it's smart to jump right into the Bat Family. Realistically, we need Bat Fam, with Nightwing at the centre to bring a fresh feel to the Batman movies. It's been sorely missing and it brings a new vibrancy to the Batman films that will differentiate it from the old Batman films and the Matt Reeve's universe. When I say Bat fam I want EVERYONE! Barb, Grayson, Tim, Red Hood. Introduce them slowly but have them already living and active, and fill us in with flashbacks or narration. Nightwing is so key and I think you can establish his history with a mix of flashback/narration, TV series set in the past, plus also just directing people to read the comics.
I really want Manchester Black in the Authority Movie; he fits great in that team even though he was never a member of the original team. but his team the Elite was a ripoff the Authority. Also Im glad that he is keeping Zachary Levi as Shazam! , Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Xolo Maridueña as Blue Beetle as he said Shazam! Is always in his own small corner of the universe so he blends well in the new DCU and Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 take place after the Flash movie reboots the Universe but I'm still pissed off that Ezra Miller is going to continue as The Flash cause I really thought he was going to get recast after his movie came out. Also Gal Gadot might return in the future as Wonder Woman after all it was confirm that the Paradise Lost HBO Max series is actually a prequel to both Wonder, Woman movies.
Agreed! The Authority has such an interesting history, with DC doing their 'parody' (really just a copy!) version in the pages of Superman, and then Morrison building on that with Superman and The Authority more recently. As for casting and recasts, I'm fairly neutral, I like most of the old cast, but I'm happy for any of them to be recast really, or be kept. I care about story and character! If Gunn can make that work, then everything else falls into place. Thanks for the comment!
He didn’t announce any new Elseworlds! Nor did he reference old movies. I think this announcement was about refreshing and new stuff. I expect them to delve more into the history and continuity in a few years, and green light some more elseworlds. Plus there are more DCU movies they didn’t announce from chapter one. I’d expect them at SDCC this year or next. Also just personally, I think it’s inevitable that Snyder would come back to direct even just one elseworlds movie in the new DC studios. He’s obviously a fan favourite so whether it’s a justice league movie or something totally new, there’s definitely a place for an elseworlds story from him. Certainly more than 5 years away at least though.
I think James Gunn knows what he's doing to make sure that the DCU is connected to what he says television movies or films my bad 👈. Even that Zack Snyder what is the best director of DCEU movies even I enjoyed even that not a lot of fans or agreed but some were good and some were I'm not going to say they were good but I would say it was all right and okay at the same time
hey can i let you in a secret i'm not just a Dc i'm both a marvel and a dc fan i love the marvel movies and this new dc slate got me pumped all fans try forcing me to join make me choose one
It’s not the worst, but to me it feels cold and detached. ‘Superman’, feels like a friend, someone you could called. ‘The Superman’ feels like a distant concept, like an idea that you can’t touch or see. I think it works for Batman every well, because he operates like a myth often ‘The Batman’, but for Superman I don’t like it as much. Just my 2 cents!
Exactly, right!? So great to see a CEO that has a genuine love for this area. It was so sad to read when a Marvel expressed that internally Marvel studios had decided not to hire “comic book fans” as their directors because they only wanted directors who had no preconceptions and could come to the character with a a totally fresh take. If anything, it’s the people who read the source material who’d understand how to bring a fresh web interesting take to the work, because they know what made it great in the first place!
I’ll miss Henry too, but the sad reality is that’s he’s been gone as Superman for 5 years already, so that ship sailed a while ago. Despite the Black Adam fiasco which created false hope (hope that I too bought into!)
It's really great to see a Snyder fan who at least has positivity for the future of DC rather than just negativity because Snyder probably isn't coming back.
Thanks! Yeah the Snyderverse of JL movies is probably done for now, but you truly never know. I see a plausibility that Snyder comes back to direct an Elseworlds movie in 5-10 years at DC Studios. Not even a JL one, maybe an entirely different property of the DCU.
I'm happy that everyone thinks Gunn can make some good movies. I'm not totally convinced, because what has he done to prove that he's a great person for the job he has? Anyone says GOTG really have to look at that movie again. It was a small movie in a big world of marvel that had been established. He's trying to create a new DC, and I worry about his writing and his directing. There's so much trust in him and Matt Reeves. That guy did nothing either. That's why the batman was a boring movie. I hope and pray that I'm wrong and we will have a decent DCU. I liked what we had. I never care what critics say, rotten tomatoes says. I care if I like it.
Appreciate your opinion! Only time will tell. If it's worth anything, I loved The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, which showed me Gunn can do greta things with DC. I also think he's broadly very good at character and story.
James Gunn: the next project up is... lanterns
ad: Shut up and take my money
the perfect ad timing... exists
I’ve always been a MASIVE snyderverse fan and I have to say I’m pumped! I find myself looking forward to The Authority most of all.
Absolutely. I think most people have found it refreshing that Gunn presented a diverse and interesting slate of well-considered stories rather than the vanilla approach.
A rational Zack Snyder fan. Bravo!!!
Haha thanks! I love ZSJL, and I also love Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Just here for good DC content!

I haven't seen humble Snyder fans since 2 years

@@ScreenBrief Yes I never had problems with Snyder's vision
It's the DC hate that was started that made the problems in the fans.
exactly!

You are shining example that not all snyder fans are toxic
Thanks! I’d like to say this is a big achievement haha but I’m sure there are plenty more chill Snyder fans out there
i think i have finally found the difference between Snyder Cultists and Snyder Fans!!!

Thank you! I'm excited for the slate. Glad you enjoyed.
Zack Snyder is on record as saying he likes what DC studios is doing
I am a comic book movie fan. I love the Snyder verse, that being said, I am looking forward to seeing what James Gunn’s DCU has to offer
The Brave and the Bold introduction of like the 4TH version of Robin
