May not be a pending trade at all...Rangers may finally coming around to sitting guys that aren't producing and/or giving 100% when they're out there.
Other than the 4th line goal in the first minute yesterday, we've gone 2 games and almost full periods without any goal from anyone.

I would like to know the real reason behind such drastic decrease in performance this season compared to last season. What is really going on?
I think alot of us would like to know.
It's a number of things.
Three seasons of highly competitive hockey with two long playoff runs took a mental and physical toll on this core.
Drury and Dolan are running the organization like the a$$h0les they are and the veterans really, really hate their guts.
Mika didn't stay in shape over the off-season and doesn't care about hockey anymore.
Trouba's and Goodrow's presence in the locker room was a net positive even if it didn't show up statistically.
Drury has made the roster progressively weaker by getting rid of decent players and replacing them with trash.
Laviolette's judgment is horrendous and he cannot make adjustments.
@humanbeing2420 the Mika comments are a speculation not necessary true. And if it was true why wouldn't the coach healthy scratch him?

@@PabloDiabloTreasures It is speculation, yes, but it fits what we see on the ice and what we know about Mika, doesn't it? Lavi doesn't healthy scratch Mika because Chris Drury signed Mika to a $8.5MM AV contract with full NMC through 2030, and scratching him will make Drury look even worse than he already does for such a stupid deal. Also, they cannot trade, waive or buyout Mika - they're stuck with him, so they can only hope he plays through it and bounces back.

Well, rumor mill says talks with Boston.........kept him off the ice to keep him healthy for a trade.
Mika is the problem not Kreider. He would also probably get a better return in a trade.
I’ll be sad when Krids goes he hasn’t had a good year but if we didn’t hand out so many ntc he wouldn’t be the guy we trade I don’t think. I went from thinking he’d spend his whole career here and possibly have 20 raised to the rafters. What difference a year makes.
Something deeper going on with the Rangers from the presidents trophy winners last year . What the heck they are hard to watch .

Mika is probably the weakest link but the rangers have traded around the heart of the problem, yes I know the no trade, however it also lack of development to have a centre come up from the minors, gets back to poor drafting and development, best we bring TJ Miller back, can u trade a GM?
My prediction for the immediate future of the Rangers.....PAIN. Been a fan since 80-81. This is the worst decline I can remember.
Unfortunately Mika is the problem. I don't think the benching was trade related but he'll probably get traded before long regardless and circumstantial evidence would say I'm wrong...
Mika was the problem last year, not the freakin parade of right winger...he stopped checking (not that he was ever a hard player to begin with), he lost the explosive skating and his timing sucked, he shanked on more one-timers than any other year (probably combined).
I don't know what to say because I loved this player and I don't know if he can ever come back to form...Krieds is still valuable but will probably be a casualty in the end.
You nailed it channel. Mika And Kreider are the cancer that brings this team down. Until they're both gone this pathetic play will never end.
I think the message is that if you are a highly paid highly skilled player that is out there to make a difference and you sit on the bench and the team does no better and no worse, what good are you?
After the year we had last year and even the way we started this season I can’t believe it has gotten this bad. Our best players just simply need to play better. Unless they can get a team to overpay for kreider it would be a huge mistake to trade him. And the Kakko trade was terrible as well.

Avery as the assistant coach for messier. Can’t get any worse. Agree Avery doesn’t have experience either as a manager or player to be #1, but he could be an effective supporting piece behind the bench

Do not trade Kris Kreider this will be one of the GM biggest mistake he could make.We need a new coach and Gm not trading one of our best players!!
Scratching a player is not going to do anything but give a struggling player a day off the ice. I imagine he is frustrated and tired. A day off is like a vacation day. No stress of not producing. He is still being paid a boatload of money. What does he care? Hell, give him a few more days, send him to the Bahamas for a week on vacation. Crap send Mika and a few other guys too.

Igor has a 2.91 GAA and that’s bottom 1/3 in the league. He’s been bad.

He's never going to be worthy of that first pick overall in the draft. Let's face it, at this point in time he's a bust. Get rid of him while their is still perceived value in him.
Don't make the same mistake as they did with that other bust, Kaako. If they would have traded him way earlier they might have gotten a better return.

Quick was not the problem today. Lavi/Drury should have already fired Housley,because these players are not understanding how to play defense or break the puck out of their zone. Lavi doesn't even ever use timeouts to send a vicious message about winning puck battles.Lavi is going to be fired if this keeps going.
But who the hell would want to coach here when the average tenure is 1.5 to 2 seasons? For 3 coaches in a row now. Rangers can’t keep doing this. It might be time to sign Messier to an iron clad 4 or 5 year deal, understanding it’s not going to happen overnight. I realize he has no coaching experience but everybody starts somewhere. How sweet would it be to see Messier hoist a cup once again at MSG 3 or 4 years from now?
@@crispycruiser4654Gallant coached for 2 seasons, Quinn for 3. Rangers will have no problem finding another coach. Messier as head coach is a terrible idea. There's no reason to think his abilities as a player 40 years ago will translate to successful coaching now. He's not a god.

The rangers have playing a lot better lately,but have been unlucky. Krieder is the last player I would trade. Laviolette should wait it out a few more games before trading anyone. Besides who are they going to get that's better than what they have now?

Why is everyone afraid to state the real problem? It's Laviolette. The players have tuned him out. They're not responding to him anymore. Laviolette has turned into the Bruce Boudreau-, Lindy Ruff-type of coach that gets fired but for some reason, lands another coaching job. Boudreau has been put to pasture. It's time to do the same with Laviolette and his lousy-coach pals.
Correction - Cuylle, Panarin, and Quick are two other bright spot obviously.

Our defense is terrible, which makes our All-Star goalie look even worse. Doesn’t matter who you have playing in front of you if you have good people that are offensively minded you still gotta have a defense. Defense wins championships! Look at the devil‘s in the 90s and their trapped defense, games were boring as hell because it was one nothing to 132 very low scoring, but the devil still won all those games with their draft trap defense and of course the guy in the net bro door or should I say close the door
The craziest thing is Mika has been playing like 5 times worse than Kreider, but he hasn't been scratched. Not only that, but Mika has been by far the absolute worst player in the entire NHL all season. And any real hockey player knows it.
Just trade everyone. These players have given up and are soft. They need a total rebuild

Can’t blame nothing on quick, no team should have 12 shots on net and still win the game. The rangers sucked at everything and I can’t stand when people go after the goalies because if they don’t got a wall in front of them they can’t win. There just like quarterbacks

Oh come on, it is not the coach? Coaches job is to get the team to play a working system. He has failed to motivate the team, failed to make any kind of adjustments (other than screwing with the lines), shows little emotion on the bench. He lost the team. The team has given up on him and each other. Fire the coaching staff. Dump more players and rebuild.

He did nothing in the off season that could have been beneficial to the Rangers and what did they get Riley Smith. Great what has he done a big nothing make that change then go from there.
