CUSTOM PAINT | Time Alpe d'Huez | Painting a bike with salmon pink and gold leaf

- 🇫🇷 Le propriétaire de ce vélo m'a contacté il y a plusieurs mois avec un projet de peinture customisée pour son nouveau vélo, un @timecycling Alpe d'Huez qu'il avait commandé prêt à peindre. Son mail s'accompagnait d'un petit croquis sommaire, mais déjà très prometteur. J'ai tout de suite été enchanté par ses idées.
Une fois de plus, j'ai utilisé de la feuille d'or pour faire des logos et produire un 'effet "marbré".
Cette fois-ci, j'ai utilisé à la fois de la feuille d'or brûlée, notamment pour les logos, afin d'ajouter de la texture dans le lettrage, mais aussi de la feuille d'or rose, presque cuivrée, pour mieux correspondre au rose saumon de base et provoquer des reflets métallisés sans trop créer de contrastes dans le coloris.

🇬🇧 The Owner of this bike contacted me a few months ago with a custom painting project for his new bike, a beautiful @timecycling Alpe d'Huez that he specifically ordered ready-to-paint. In his email, a rough yet promising mockup of his ideas was already enough to get me immediately excited about it.
Once again, I used golf leaf for this bike, for the logos and to produce a sort of "marbly" effect to it.
Except this time, I used burnt gold for the logos, to add texture to the lettering, and pink copperish gold leaves to match with the base salmon pink coat and produce a metallic effect on the colour, without adding too much contrast to it.

I can not believe my eyes... oh... my... god... this is one of the best looking frames, maybe the best looking frame I have ever seen. Just imagine the guys at Time Cycling thinking each and every time when they ship a ready to paint frame 'okay, try and beat our standard paint jobs' (because they are stunning to be honest) and then even leaving them speechless when they see this....

vous faites la couleur Musou ?
@@glloq126 je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion de peindre en utilisant la peinture Musou black, mais c'est tout à fait possible, oui. Peu d'intérêt toutefois sur un vélo, vu que cette peinture ne peut pas être vernie, elle reste donc très fragile.

Amazing job. The gold leaf for the TIME logo looks incredible. 2 things I'd do differently would be making a fade instead of hard two tone and probably some exposed carbon on the rear end somewhere because there's too much pink for my taste.

I have to agree with you. I'm not a fan of the carbon fiber weave showing either. I probably would have done that part in white. But this is a quality paint job done much better than something you get from the bike manufacturers.

tres belle peinture, mais je me pose une question ; quand le cadre arrive "nu", on ne distingue pas les entrelacements de fibre propre a Time ? cela veut il dire que ces "stries" sont en fait de la déco de la part de Time ? comment se fait il qu'elles n'apparaissent pas? merci de votre eclairage :)

As a designer I don't like this color scheme at all, it is lousy, and in bad taste unfortunately, I would much prefer just clear coat on the carbon just like the original TIME paintwork.
Jesus, why is it that people always feel entitled to give their lousy opinions about anything, all the time? You don't like it? Well, guess what: this is not your bike, I didn't paint it for you, and my client is more than happy with the result. So tell me, why should I care about your stupid opinion and your preferences? Do you really think being a "designer" gives you any sort of legitimacy? Gosh, you guys are the worst.
I can agree with the fact that the beauty of Time’s bicycle is in the amazing carbon work. Beautiful French engineering and production…like nothing else in the industry. I also wouldn’t cover it up, perhaps the gold logo over the raw carbon and gold branding / model elements. I can however appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into this effort. Bravo for being able to work with his hands and produce quality work. à chacun son propre!
