    Man, I'm a 3rd of the way through the video and I must say already this is THE BEST Tundra review I have seen and I've seen a lot. Very comprehensive and explaining things that I have noticed and got no explanation for in any other review such as why is the grill so far from the radiator for example and many more revealing features. Great job!
    I'll continue watching now :)

    Some things missed on this new truck. No tow hooks , sensor on front grill is in the way , rear bumper is all wrong , no steps to get into the bed , reverse lights will get broken , plastic parts on the tailgate will break off , composite box is not strong enough for work , roof is too low , center armrest needs improvement , payload is low . I love my old Tundra and hope Toyota makes some changes to this new one next year. Excellent review as usual .

    Nothing class leading here, but Toyota knows that when they release the hybrid MPG numbers, it will be the talk of the town. MPG will be the game changer, no question. -Sincerely, a hybrid 2021 Sienna and 2021 Prius Prime owner.

      It will probably be the same as the F150 Hybrid around 24 MPG combined.

    • @arsyadidris2919
      @arsyadidris2919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what i can guess, the hybrid system wont really help much for highway rating or even combined rating. However, it would be great for city driving and stop go traffic.
      Toyota understands that those buying the higher-end hybrid tundras wont be properly utilizing its capabilities. Most of the time, theyll be driving around in civilisation. A lifestyle truck, basically. And these buyers will benefit from the hybrid system.
      But those opting for the entry level tundra - the SR5 if im not mistaken - will be the ones pushing the limits of this truck. Theyre price concious. Theyll be in the field for most of their waking hours with their trucks. They need some form of reliability. They dont need a hybrid.
      And in all honestly, im actly hoping that therell be a more powerful hybrid tundra for future model years. Theres still room under the cabin for more battery packs. They can easily uprate the e-motors for more power. Jacking another 50hp from the e-motor isnt really a big problem, and with proper packaging n using lithium battery, they can easily triple the capacity. Ofcourse,,, those sort of numbers will make it dangerously close to crossing into Lexus territory. I mean… having a Tundra with more power than an LC500 is abit humiliating for the luxury coupe😂😂😂

    A few observations and opinions: 1) I think this is a good looking truck and they will sell as many as they can build. 2) They should have offered a V-8. 3) It's hard to believe that a vehicle this large can have limited head room. 4) The 4.2" digital dash for lower end models is way too small. That was okay 5 yrs ago. Not now. 5) No tricks for the tail gate is a mistake in my book. 6) The 14" touch screen is brilliant - looks great and doesn't stick up into your field of vision like other screens can. 7) 7.5 seconds to 60 seems slow for that much power. 8) Toyotas may be known for reliability, but I have trouble believing a vehicle this complex is going to be trouble free right out of the gate. I would not buy that 1st yr of production. 9) To get one of these, I bet you will have to pay $10,000 over sticker price. These will not be cheap.

      That’s not what y’all said 6-7 months ago when hoping that they would have a v8 option. Y’all were saying how fords v6 turbos would fail and that it’s design would put too much stress on the engine. Now being you have no choice but to accept the turbo engine, it’s all freakin roses an shit. Ford once again was ahead of the game, they have built some good engines that apparently Toyota copied from.

    It's better than the outgoing models, but I think Toyota missed the mark on a few things. Alex didn't disclose whether he was at elevation or sea level. But if this test was done at sea level the acceleration is pretty lousy. 7.6 seconds is at least a second behind the direct competition. That's even slower than the outgoing V8. Wi th h this returning 17.5 mpg I can only wonder what the 5.7 could have been hooked to the ten speed? It's better but if it were my money I would take the F150 or Ram.

    Premium fuel required for max output(too bad on the detuned base versions). No 4WD Auto(all Big 3 makers offer it). Slow for all of the power that it has. For the size, the interior is somewhat inefficient in dimensions and comfort. Noisier interior than the Ram, which is slated to become even quieter soon. Poor(ish) MPG with the V6, though better than the 5.7(one can only imagine that engine with this trans though). Then there is the matter of unknown reliability, a huge concern since the previous vehicle was one of the most reliable vehicles on the planet. I just think Toyota had ample time to knock it out of the park and they didn't quite do that.

      I'm sure they also limited engine performance to reduce emissions on wide open throttle. It'll make 389hp, but might take a while to ramp up.

    "While Americans can’t seem to get enough of the mid-size pickups from Japanese automakers, they absolutely shun their full-size trucks. According to data from WardsIntelligence, the highest market share Toyota has seen with Tundra was 9.1% and that was in 2007. It currently hovers in the 5% range. It’s even worse for Nissan. The best the Titan was able to muster was 3.5% of the market in 2005. Today it’s at 1.5%. With the Detroit Three commanding 94% of full-size pickup sales this year, it might almost make more sense for Toyota and Nissan to share a large truck platform." Autoline

    • @CleanSC
      @CleanSC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@M1911jln I hear you on that, but in practice, these TT V6's aren't all that much better than V8's in the real world. People tend to be in boost all the time and your MPG plummets at that point. I know 2.7 Ecoboost owners that can't get over 14mpg. Physics is physics, you need to use energy to move these heavy trucks, and the 200 series Land Cruiser is a very big boy. Let's hope this TTV6 can improve on this however. Because even if it does a lot, the V8 just has this smooth way of operation that V6's just can't give you. I'll wait to pass judgement on that until I can drive one.

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't. They use V-8s in so few models, and those slow sellers, that the unit cost of each engine must be high. They didn't develop this 3.5t from scratch for the Tundra. They already make similar V-6s for a fair number of models that sell in volume. This particular one may be tuned for truck use, but it's not a new engine.

    • @CleanSC
      @CleanSC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markmiller3279 I think you missed my point. It's not so much the number of cylinders - it's the forced induction. Designing and manufacturing a turbo engine is very much more expensive than a naturally aspirated motor. Not to mention the hybrid+turbo version. Have you seen the mechanicals on these new Tundras? It's absolutely more complicated and expensive to build. Which means for us, more expensive to buy and maintain. Reliable, sure. But it will cost you more when these things eventually start to need attention. The intercooler system alone is quite complex. I stand by my original assertion that Toyota doesn't want to be building these because it's more complicated and expensive than an NA V8.

      I guess it's because the previous generation SR5 models (up till 2019) had either the 4.0 v6 (from the 4runner with about 278HP) or the 4.6 V8 with 301HP as engine options. Toyota probably didn't want to use those engines anymore, so they did what they felt was the next best thing: reduce the power of the TT V6, but not by a huge margin over the more powerful version of the engine. Or they're going Ford's route, ford has a 2.7 TT V6 and two versions of the 3.5 TT v6. Toyota probably didn't want to make two different TT V6 engines. At least it's not a turbocharged 4 cylinder (👀GM).

So send the obese wife, dog, cooler, an spawn in another vehicle cause this vehicle won’t handle it. Even an 8000 lb trailer would prob blow the payload if you have passengers in it.
