Doom 3 is the prequel to the whole franchise. The reason why Doomguy would be back on mars after such a traumatic experience, the Soul Cube thanks him by sending him back to the surface and wiping his memory of hell as his reward. That would explain why Doomguy isn't afraid of the demons next time he goes to mars, he's having a déjà vu. You also have to ignore the manuals for it to make sense, otherwise it contradicts everything about the idea.

In The Monitor Screen Where You First Confront Jonathan Ishii, When A Brutal Demonic Invasion Began, One Of The Demon Soul Possessed A Z-Sec Soldier (Probably Machine Gunner Or Shotgunner) Below That Big Screen Monitor There's A Little Screen Computer Monitor If You Click The Screen There's Also A Cutscene For Pistol Z-Sec Killing A UAC Staff/Worker. That Cutscene Is Unique Because You Aren't Forced To Watch It And You Would Still Capable To Move.

Indeed, if you're going to play Doom 3 nowadays then this is the way to do it. You need your VR legs though due to fast movement.
