I have a friend visiting MD and is stopping by the distillery for a bottle of the 9yr for me. If you have never been to Sagamore Distillery it is in a beautiful setting right on Baltimore Harbor. When we traveled to visit the in-laws in Tewksbury MA from SC, Sagamore is a good halfway point. Good restaurant there too.
Not everything is their own stuff yet; the new 7 year BiB is their own distillate as is the most recent releases of their core offerings (93 proof, double oak, cask strength) but all the higher aged and finished stuff is still MGP. This is on a lot of shelves around DC (of course). You have to do a Blind Fight Friday with this and MK Triumph AND do a Sunday Funday with this, Triumph, Pikesville, and maybe Emerald Giant CS.
@@smknochs1 I don’t think triumph has a chance… but I like it…. Mike took it to his house for a gathering…. If it survives we will do this….. I will write these down
Yeah - the Sag 9 is absolutely fantastic. The only rye I had better this year is Michter's 10 and Barrel Strength. The Sag 9 will blow away all those standard rye products that are available on shelf. Btw - fairly available in VA, MD, and DC. Forgot - Old Overholt 10 year is up there with the Sag 9 too.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Nice score on this bottle at $73. Still can't find it anywhere. Noticed on the Sagamore's, some batches are straight rye & are some are blends of straight ryes, which is a big difference, but not sure how much they vary in taste. I only have the Sag Doubke Oak & it's a blend. Didn't notice when I got it, or probably would have waited til finding a batch of the straight rye DO.
@@smknochs1 That's not true. If I could post pics here, could put up many of their labels with "straight rye whiskey" on the front. On the bottom front label is where they typically list what TTB class of whiskey it is. Cheers!
On first crack of mine I was pretty let down. It definitely opened up a week later though. Still feel like I should have just bought a jack SBBP rye. Alright back to the video
Sagamore is my favorite rye so far. Thanks for the review good job fellas.

Yes please include this with another Rye for comparison! Maybe against some other Ryes: Old Forester Rye, Rittenhouse Rye, Green River Rye etc
@@alfredogomezjr7415 I definitely will be putting this up against some others to see how it does
Great ideas Cheers

All of Sagamore's whiskeys are blends of straight rye, always blended from one low-rye mashbill and one high-rye mashbill.

@@primitivefpv6660 to be honest …. I have yet to try anything that even comes close to Jack SBBP Rye….. that thing is a monster!!!
Supposedly my local Total Wine got this in for $70 each. I’m gonna try to order it and see if that’s legit.
