Never had the Rare Breed rye but I have a 101proof single barrel select WT rye that is Very Tasty, 101 bourbon is so thin tasting to me, not what it was 15-20 yrs ago. OGD bonded is the same way to me anyway . Great Review 👍 Cheers 🥃
@@MarkDean-wl3dh we have not… I have seen the single barrel bourbon but never the rye…. You are the second person that mentioned that one… I will be on the lookout for one now…
I have most of these with the exception of the wild turkey triumph. I may give it a go, just not blind. The wild turkey triumph rye 10 year is now $308 at my local Total Wine. No thanks. Maybe if it goes on sale for 30% off me and a buddy will split for it.
@@TheReal_DeanD it isn’t worth it… this is the second blind we have put it in…. And it hasn’t won yet….. and wasn’t even close to make our top ten list… over priced and over hyped…
Just to play devils advocate, I dont thknk triumph does well in blinds when its put up against higher proof ryes. If you compared it to with ryes around 100 proof im sure it would perform better. Its most likely one of those that are meant to be enjoyed on its own and not against anything else…. Too bad I wont ever find out because of the price 😂.
@@GLENBECKHAM I agree… the point of the two blinds we put it in so far was to if it could in any way merit the price tag… it was dead last with the three higher proof sub $100 bottles… and this one I wanted to see how it did against other products made by the same distillery…. Again… it didn’t win… and all those bottles were also way under $100… mike took it home for a gathering… if it comes back I will try to find three rye whiskeys around the same proof and give it another try….but even if it won… it shouldn’t be anywhere near that price
I understand 100% and totally agree about the price. Im sure if it didnt cost so much it would probably taste better because you wouldnt have such a bitter taste in your mouth to start 😅 Im curious how it does in blinds with 100 proofish ryes…. If you guys can ever find a russells single barrel rye that would be a good match up. Those are 104 proof and I believe they are 6-8 years old. Its one of my favorite sipping ryes.
@ yeah I will be on the lookout for one of those….part of the issue for me is… for the most part wild Turkey has great prices….i just get the reasoning behind the pricing of this one…. At least if it was spectacular you could at least say that…. But it is just ok…. And at $325….. nothing should be ok
@ Their pricing is the absolute worst. It sucks because they are probably my favorite distillery. I really have only had the shelfers ( with a couple of exceptions) but I refuse to pay what most liquor stores charge for their products.
Thanks guys, that was fun! Go Bruins

My local store had the RB Rye on discount. Got four @ $35! One of my fav’s.

I'm going to TRIUMPH too. I can buy four of my favorite Bourbons and Ryes for the price of one.
@@williamcornelison4721 yeah that was the point of this one…. Doesn’t deserve the pricetag if it can’t even beat its cheaper siblings…
