I guessing a bad clock spring (before I watch video). I replaced mine when the horn started failing (air bag was OK) at 178k miles. My 2006 Corolla Matrix now has over 217k miles. The after market unit was about 45 bucks and works great.

Changed my about a month ago and dont buy the cheapest clockspring, go for the dorman aftermarket it works, I bought a 60$ clockspring a week later the airbag light came on. Oh I have an 07 corolla 237000 MLS , I'm a DIYER . LOVE THIS guy's , him ,scotty and car care nut, moosemoblile ,etc. Saved a ton. About to do my rear axle assembly bushings. Currently waiting for the tool to press them out and back in!

I look forward to the clock spring repair video. I’ve had the same problem in a older Toyota. I have no idea how the replaced it.

Petr, The clock spring went out on my 2005 as well. I appealed to NHTSA to recall it so I would not have to pay. Sadly, I was unsuccessful. 🤨

My FJ Cruiser’s airbag light is on as well. From my understanding, it’s a clock spring issue. Not sure how hard it is to change, but I’m willing to give it a shot.

It’s relatively easy. Might need a steering wheel puller but I doubt it

So for a while ive had airbag light on. Then, one day the horn got stuck on. I disconnected the horn at the connector, and a week later the cruise stopped working. After troubleshooting online I found that all of this could be a clock spring issue. I replaced it today and it brought back functionality of the horn and cruise control. Airbag light is still on. Do you think I need to get a scanner and clear the code? Which autel scanner would you recommend? I see a handful of different models. I dont mind investing in tools that can save me money in the long run, and Im seeing some of them for less than $500. Id like one that would not only work for my 2003 corolla, but also for my other domestic vehicles as well. Thanks for the video!

First thing that came to my mind after all the recall hoopla was the Tokata air bag issue.

How can I reset Air bag light on a Toyota tercel 93

    Ha!
    “Safety procedures”.
First. The OBD connector has power 100% of the time!
Then. You CANNOT damage the ECU with the scan tool or by simply unplugging the scan tool, it is a low voltage serial protocol!
That’s the difference between technicians and engineers.

Unbelievable coincidence... The same problem popped up on my 06 Corolla. Waiting for a nice day to film it's replacement...

Funny. The airbag light in my 06 Corolla came on a few days ago. I'm not sure yet what the problem is, but the horn works. My OBD2 scanner isn't fancy, so not sure that it can read the right modules.
