If I could make a law, I'd make it that any studio that's going to cancel a show at least has to tie up all the ends of the story and never ever leaves it on a cliffhanger.
"Freaks and Geeks" was truly ahead of its time. It's crazy that it was axed because the network wanted it to be happier, and less angsty. It would have a better shot of lasting in the 2010's, when 80's nostalgia was at its all time high, but sadly, it wouldn't have the iconic cast that we know and love today.
I discovered "Dead Like Me" and "Pushing Daisies" during the pandemic, and they were both hilarious, filled with offbeat humour and quirky characters. It's a shame that they didn't last longer.
It’s pretty much ShoTimes best show ever. They haven’t reached that peak of quality in a LONG TIME! Weeds is my fav show of all time and I still feel this way 😂.
I’m a Terminator fan and I totally agree! Of course, had it not gotten cancelled, Lena Headey wouldn’t have been available to play what became her most iconic character: Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones.
@@carastone3473Highly unlikely that she wouldn't have been available considering game of thrones didn't air until 2011. We could have safely gotten in 1 to 2 more seasons if Fox hadn't cancelled the show.
My Name Is Earl popped into my head as soon as I saw the title, glad I am not alone. Dead Like Me is another one I Immediately thought of. Arrested Development also a great choice. Never saw the Netflix episodes
I was LIVID when they cancelled it and then it seemed like the half-assed the second season they did get, but I think if they hadn't originally cancelled it, it could've kept up the momentum it had from the get-go.
I read what was supposed to happen going forward part of it was Dexter was supposed to get into a relationship with another immortal and she was older than him sadly that's all I can remember about it atm. But it was going to be soooooooooo good.
Shows not mentioned that made me sad that they got cancelled too soon are Tru Calling and Men in Trees. I loved both those shows and I wanted to cry when they got cancelled. Both only lasted 2 seasons each.
“Dead Like Me” could - and should - be rebooted in the right context. It’s something that is timeless and hilarious, yet meaningful. I rewatch the series often and the ending (of show) is brilliant. The movie was mediocre but was ok, but just stick with the show
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, My So-Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, and, Firefly from this list. Of my own? Moonlight (2007), Lie To Me, Life, Once and Again, Space: Above and Beyond.
Freaks and Geeks was an amazing show. I was saddened to hear that it was cancelled due to poor scheduling and I promptly got the complete series on DVD in 2018
David Fincher honestly was the reason also that Mindhunter got stuck at Season 2, since he wasn't pleased with the ratings it gotten. I still like him as a director, but i'm still salty about this. And personally i think that Good Behavior should have been on this list, it's been 7 years since it got canceled and it's still on my mind.
I forgot to add Journeyman on mine, but absolutely! I watched it on Hulu constantly back in the day and now I have nowhere to watch it, it sucks. And New Amsterdam, but the one with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Both casualties of the writer's strike but both could've been really cool.
In addition to Freaks and Geeks and Pushing Daisies, I’d rescue Galavant and Awake. Awake had an awesome premise. It made me very sad it was cancelled after one season.
I literally just commented this! The show deserved so much better. It looked like it would have been interesting as well after the find in the badlands
One show that was cancelled way too soon that I never see mentioned is American Gothic. It aired in '95 or '96, stared Gary Cole and Sarah Paulson and was produced by Sam Raimi. CBS basically did the same thing Fox did to Firefly and butchered the show. Airing episodes out of order, skipping some altogether and constantly moving the time and day it aired around. It's definitely worth a watch, if you can find it.
TSCC wasn't a bad show but I wouldn't say it improved the mythos, but it wasnt bad for being its own thing. Also, Almost Human, MK Conquest and Contantine all got cut too soon.
Raising Hope was also cancelled a bit early . If all Martha Plimpton did offscreen was introduce a grieving Patton Oswalt to Meredith Salenger, she deserves all the flowers.
Here are some I really liked and not included on this list:- *Designated Survivor. *Now & Then. *Eli Stone. *God Friended Me. *The Event. *Flash Forward. *Party Of Five (Remake series).
20. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles 19. Timeless 18. Lovecraft Country 17. Dead Like Me 16. Speechless 15. Agent Carter 14. The Mick 13. Jericho 12. My Name is Earl 11. Veronica Mars 10. Santa Clarita Diet 9. My So-Called Life 8. Party Down 7. Pushing Daisies 6. Hannibal 5. Twin Peaks 4. Arrested Development 3. Mindhunter 2. Freaks and Geeks 1. Firefly
In a roundabout way, Babylon 5. They were going to be cancelled after season 4 so they rushed to wrap up the story and tie all loose ends and then got the season 5 after all and it wasn't on par with what came before being out of material. Had they never got cancelled in the first placed the last two seasons would have been masterpieces.
Their 3rd season was able to air just before COVID was declared. It was the shows insufficient revenue not adding up to the production expenses are the reason why. The showrunners didn't even want to cancel it.
Love the Dead Like Me mention!! I still want to know how Rube died...and what he did just prior to his death. AND whether Crystal knew certain things regarding post-its.
I remember when the Dead Like Me direct to DVD movie came out. There was some hope from certain online communities that if enough people bought it it would show that there was still interest in it and convince HBO to bring it back...And Pushing Daisies, an other victim of the writer's strike
Dead Like Me and Agent Carter should've continued. Another series cancelled too soon was the 2009 reboot of V. V left on a cliffhanger of the Earth being envaded by the Vistor aliens, with most of humaity mind controlled enslaved by the leader Anna.
Good list. I'd like to add... 1.Vinyl 2. Looking 3.Let the right one in. 4. What we do in the shadows 5. Night Sky 6. Quarry 7.Tales of the City I'm sure I'll think of more & amend this. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
"Lonestar" (2010), was never given a chance...pulled just after a couple of episodes. It could have went on to become a blockbuster hit like "Dallas" was! Great premise and cast, especially the handsome and charismatic, James Wolk 😉
Bryan Fuller gets all his shows cancelled man. 1. Dead like Me 2. Pushing Diasies 3. Wonder fall 4. Hannibal Technically, American gods. He walked out after the first season.

I miss the show Grimm it definitely deserves a spin-off or one more season.
Top 10 Cartoons Cancelled Too Soon.
Hailey's On It!
2 Broke Girls & Sullivan and son
The Aquabats! Super Show!
If I could make a law, I'd make it that any studio that's going to cancel a show at least has to tie up all the ends of the story and never ever leaves it on a cliffhanger.
There really needs to be a safeguard in place that ensures a show gets a conclusion. Even if it's just one bonus episode.
*My name is earl was too good to be cancelled 😢.*
I never realized how much the chick from I love earl look like the chick who played barbie
name is earl miss soooooooo much
Yes ❤
I loved it, but...the last season was not funny, sometimes just plain stupid.
Hated that it ended on a cliffhanger
"Freaks and Geeks" was truly ahead of its time. It's crazy that it was axed because the network wanted it to be happier, and less angsty. It would have a better shot of lasting in the 2010's, when 80's nostalgia was at its all time high, but sadly, it wouldn't have the iconic cast that we know and love today.
I also heard they didn't care for the "real" people acting. They'd rather have "Hollywood" actors.
"Undeclared" was also canceled too soon.
I discovered "Dead Like Me" and "Pushing Daisies" during the pandemic, and they were both hilarious, filled with offbeat humour and quirky characters. It's a shame that they didn't last longer.
If you liked those shows give "Eli Stone" a shot, Jonny Lee Miller sings a lot and it's fantastic
Better off Ted was also FANTASTIC! I still miss it.
I warn you about the movie Dead Like Me based on the show.
Them canceling Freaks and Geeks was criminal
I grew up watching Ghost Whisperer, and rewatched it several years ago.
I will never forgive CBS for cancelling it.
Firefly was one of the most tragic first seasons tv shows in American television history. It’s potential was unimaginable
Not to mention one of Zac Efron’s first television roles
Never heard of it
It was perfectly casted and chemistry worked well.
@@pbsfundingaddict790Wait Zac Efron was in Firefly?!
@@chaotic7cam Yes sir, he played Young Simon
Dead Like Me was a great show, I was sad that it didn’t get the recognition it deserved
Yup after the show ended THAT WAS IT NOTHING ELSE CAME OUT
George's character was amazing, they all were.
It’s pretty much ShoTimes best show ever. They haven’t reached that peak of quality in a LONG TIME!
Weeds is my fav show of all time and I still feel this way 😂.
from what I heard MGM, were huge dicks to work with when it came to that show
Freeform's "Siren" and the FOX show "Firefly" are the shows that I wished didnt get cancelled.
At least Firefly got a proper epilogue with the awesome movie Serenity.
Siren was good.
I want My Name is Earl back.
The Sarah Conner Chronicles was great
I’m a Terminator fan and I totally agree!
My name is earl was the best
I'll say it until the end of time: the saddest casualty of COVID-19 was Mindhunter 😢
I think it was the multi million dollar SFX was the real killer.
Stargate Universe, Dark Angel and Alphas should definitely have been on this list.
Yes! I absolutely loved Stargate Universe and Robert Carlyle’s performance. I was so disappointed when I heard it was canceled.
I grew up watching "My name is Earl"; I would love to see how the show progressed. 🎉
Forever, too, was taken off too soon. Very underrated.
Yes!
I have it on DVD but man I wish we could have had at least 2 more seasons
Pushing Daisies was awesome, the town gave me Tim Burton's Edward Scissor Hands vibes.
My Name Is Earl popped into my head as soon as I saw the title, glad I am not alone. Dead Like Me is another one I Immediately thought of. Arrested Development also a great choice. Never saw the Netflix episodes
Still pissed off the CW canceled Reaper
Was going to make a comment mentioning the show. This and The Riches (FX) are two I often site on these lists.
I was LIVID when they cancelled it and then it seemed like the half-assed the second season they did get, but I think if they hadn't originally cancelled it, it could've kept up the momentum it had from the get-go.
Surprisingly missing from this list: "Forever."
I read what was supposed to happen going forward part of it was Dexter was supposed to get into a relationship with another immortal and she was older than him sadly that's all I can remember about it atm. But it was going to be soooooooooo good.
Farscape-4 seasons
Jericho-2 seasons
Firefly-1 season
Terra Nova-1 season
Vegas-1 season
Surface-1 season
All deserved multiple seasons
Alcatraz... Revolution... Colony...
Now do “Top ten shows that should’ve ended MUCH sooner, but didn’t”.
TBBT, should be somewhere in the top 3, if not #1.
Still waiting for The View to be canceled
Grey's Anatomy is definitely in the top 5, if not 3 of that list.
@@Cat-Tiger-Taegi-Cult FOR REAL!
The Simpsons.
The Walking Dead.
Lost.
Prison Break.
How I Met Your Mother.
Supernatural for sure. Kept recycling old ideas.
Besides Freaks and Geeks, The George Lopez Show and Grounded for Life deserve to last way longer.
I bought the Dead Like Me boxed set after Chiller started running it back when that channel was still around.
I warn you about the movie based on the show.
Shows not mentioned that made me sad that they got cancelled too soon are Tru Calling and Men in Trees. I loved both those shows and I wanted to cry when they got cancelled. Both only lasted 2 seasons each.
Men In Trees should get a final season.
@@siewheilou399 I wish it would have had one, but it will never have one now unfortunately since Anne Heche passed away. It was such a good show too.
I remember Tru Calling, I’ve never seen it just heard of it

Amazon owns MGM now so it could happen I just hope they don't drop the ball with Stargate. (They did say something is planned but not what)
Freaks and Geeks is on the Top of my List!
Forever should be on this list. It was such an amazing show and deserved more than a single season
O can't agree more. A Pox on the house of the exec at ABC who made that decision.
My husband and I loved "My Name is Earl".
" Square Pegs"
"Briscoe County"
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, My So-Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, and, Firefly from this list.
Of my own? Moonlight (2007), Lie To Me, Life, Once and Again, Space: Above and Beyond.
The Spectacular Spider-Man and Wolverine and the X-Men come to mind.
As well as Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, Marvel's Daredevil, and Marvel's The Punisher.
If we are talking superhero shows. I got to mention Danger Force
YES!!!
“DC’s legends of tomorrow” and “Robocop” are the only two I wish weren’t cancelled
Earl should be in top 5. One of the best sitcoms of it's time and so rewatchable
Happy Endings was crazy awesome!

CARNIVALE! I will always be mad about that cancellation!!! The second season ended on such a cliff hanger too…
The writer strike killed so many shows.
Pushing Daisies is my number 1 here. Got destroyed by the strike
Journeyman was another great one
I forgot to add Journeyman on mine, but absolutely! I watched it on Hulu constantly back in the day and now I have nowhere to watch it, it sucks. And New Amsterdam, but the one with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Both casualties of the writer's strike but both could've been really cool.
Cries in Pushing Daisies
In addition to Freaks and Geeks and Pushing Daisies, I’d rescue Galavant and Awake. Awake had an awesome premise. It made me very sad it was cancelled after one season.
The fact that Terra Nova is not on this list is criminal.
I literally just commented this! The show deserved so much better. It looked like it would have been interesting as well after the find in the badlands
I’m that MAX cancelled both Warrior and Tokyo Vice! That piss me off.
And Our Flag Means Death.
And Scavengers Reign.
I wish that they didn't cancelled Agent Carter, mind hunters. They forgot Powerless, Crazy Ones, Dollhouse, Forever.
Kyle XY was cancelled on a cliffhanger. I loved that show!
Anyone remember "The Critic"? Sadly in the shadow of the Simpsons. And no, to all the Jay Shermans out there, it doesn't stink
HBO’s Time Traveler’s Wife & Julie & the Phantoms deserved another season!!!😤
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, Travellers, 1899, Sense8, Counterpart, Altered Carbon, The OA. Tough being a Sci-fi fan
What really hurt Pushing Daisies was that big writer's strike
The Spectacular Spider-Man Deserved Better😢
Into the badlands is one I miss
afaik they're still in development for season 5 (?)
The Following was such an amazing show. It needed one more season.

That show was AWESOME, and it got cut short because of the 2007 writers strike iirc.
A onr season wonder, 2nd sesson was already a mess.

No Ordinary Family was canceled way too early.
Dead Like Me was great. I watch the Halloween episode every year.
Berlin station got cancelled at a horrible plot twist moment. It is still one of my favorite shows and got cancelled way too early.
Jericho getting canceled still pisses me off.

Ash vs evil dead too 💀
Oh wow Jericho! Haven’t thought of that show in a long time
"Wonderfalls" was another great show that got cancelled
Carnival on hbo should have been on this list 1000%
Stargate SG-1 deserved one more season. It was canceled mid season so the cast and crew had to rush the closure of a lot of plot lines.
Speachless was great
