- Having made it through sewing one half of the antique yo yo quilt to a low loft comforter, I wanted to share my progress over the last 45 hours. Having such a well constructed yo yo quilt has made this project timely but also fun. What a challenge! Enjoy my dining room set up and how I attacked the hand stitching. I have really gained more and more appreciation for those little yo yos and the quilters who did such a lasting job.
Update: I have just finished the comforter and just need to do the two shams. On this project the yo yo quilt was larger than the purchased low loft comforter and blocks of yo yos are going to be added to the shams.
Notes:
1. This quilt contains approx. 2,000 yo yos which were constructed by not turning under the outer edge of circle of fabric; the raw edge makes a fuzzy center. Now of the yo yos have come apart in the center. That was such a surprise.
2. It was fun to look closely at the techniques used to join the yo yo. When repairs were made, they look different from the majority of connectors.
3. New learning: I had been traveling over the top of a row; then I would travel over the bottom of the yo yos. I later started doing an over and under (repeated across the row) , and that seemed easier.

Thank you. Learning alot from this turtioral. Making one with a large yo yo in the middle and 8 going around that. Then placing that on a square. You helped my alot.
Thank you!
Looks like cake frosting. Lovely
I really liked the edge. It really took some thought...there are 2 different fabrics in the edge and everything came out right.
Stephanie, is a gift. This quilt is a piece of art!
You are great to work with; thank you!!
Stephanie....This is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Thank you!
This is incredible!!
Thank you!
Beautiful and very neatly done👍👍
Thank you so much 😊

Yo Yos are attached to low loft cover and 1 sham is complete. I can't believe how much is finished. Thank you!
Wow so beautiful 🤩 thank you for sharing. God bless you and your family I hope you’re having a blessed day
Happy Holidays!
You are a God send!! I am in the middle of repairing an antique yo yo quilt and the lady I'm doing it for gave me plain cotton material just so she could have a backing... I decided to go to HomeGoods and get a coverlet very similar to yours!
I was planning on tying the center of the yo-yo's on instead of sewing all around like you did. I hope it will be ok.
This is absolutely gorgeous what you are doing.
Hope it looks the way you want!
Amazing job 🥰
Thank you.
Beautiful
Thank you
Love...love...love...this
I am missing is now that it is done!
Wow. This is a lot of work, needs more patience. Hope i get the courage to create one for myself
Best of luck!
Lindíssimo trabalho realmente.👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Cool.
I think at first a sm..one...unless I get ambitious...lol
That tends to be my attitude, too.
Where did you find your Low Loft Quilt to sew the Yo-Yo Quilt to?
It was a bed cover from a store like Target.
I wish I could have seen better. The camera showed your hand and not your needle. 😢
Thank you for letting me know! (I used a sharp needle and 'caught'
small pieces of fabric in the coverlet and then the yo yo edge and went around the edge.)
