Wow! What a wonderful story! I think it's great that Susan Hemming and Haley Mills remained life long friends. And how thoughtful and classy of Walt Disney and the A-list cast to remember and honor Susan for her performance.
It’s such a satisfying story from a fan’s perspective. Susan’s pride for receiving such a unique award from “Uncle Walt” is joyous, and the fact that Walt gave it to her warms my heart! Such a feel good story!
Made me happy to hear this was a good experience for the girls and that Walt was so nice to the kids. You hear so often how badly child actors are treated.
I’m 75 and I always thought that it was some sort of split screen photography. This and Pollyanna had been my favorite movies growing up. Learning something new every day 🇺🇸
Charming! What a lovely attitude this beautiful lady has-“Uncle Walt”-precious memories to share. She’s a real Pollyanna, isn’t she? Thanks for sharing! 🥰
I just love how Susan refers to Walt! If we just focus on Walt-era content we will always be happy…the kids can change the attractions, but we will always have these films!
When "The Parent Trap" came to our local theater, I went with a friend down the street. Oh, I loved it, and when I had the chance three days later to see it again, I incurred my mother's wrath by asking for the seventy five cents to go to the movies again. It was so well worth it! It's a joy to finally meet The Hayley number two!
I was an eighthes baby but Ioved this movie as a kid. I loved all of Hayle Mills movies. If you haven't seen the movie The trouble With Angles watch that movie it's hilarious and shocking ending.
"Eighties baby" reminds me of this beautiful country song by a wonderful country singer, K.T. Oslin - a classy, distinguished woman. So, I guess, we're like eighties babies. And as such, I too prefer the original Parent Trap. Granted, I've only seen a portion and a few small parts of the remake... but I was NOT a fan of the 40 or so minutes I had seen. And I'm USUALLY not a fan of older, black-and-white films/television shows, really just the 1950s or earlier, just a few from '60s/'70s - I just can't get into those movies or put myself in the movie, usually I can't tell characters apart, quite often the dialogue loses me bbecause it doesn't make sense to my modern ears, thus it makes it makes it hard to follow the plot. But OG Parent Trap (just like the second version of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella from 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren) is timeless if you ask me. I mean, it may seem slightly outdated now due to a lack of technology, but that's about it.
This has been one of my favorite movies since childhood. I was amazed at how cleverly the movie was made with one actress. I loved learning about Susan Henning several years ago. It made much more sense after I knew there was a body double. The girls really do look a lot alike! Susan is so gracious and humble. I wish her name had been mentioned somewhere in the credits!
Very interesting! I love this movie, growing up with it, and I never thought I'd learn all this. What a nice story about both girls, the cast, and "Uncle Walt". Thanks!!
This is just one of the unsung praises towards how Walt really was. While she wasn't credited in the film, she was still acknowledged with something so precious and limited that Walt only gave to very special and unique individuals. I'm sure the one Walt had was just one of those "I haven't found the right person to give it to" trophies.
Oh my gosh that was wonderful ,it was so nice to see Hayleys double and how kind they were to her ,Beautiful story loved it thank you for sharing it with us.
Love this! I have always wondered who the other actress was… now I know! Thanks! I miss Sunday evenings with a bowl of popcorn watching Wonderful World of Disney as a great end to every happy childhood weekend.
Been watching this film for many years and had no idea about Susan! always believed it to be a split screen mostly with a quick stand in body double for a couple shots, but Susan seems way more important than a simple body double!
I remember as a kid in the 1970s, NBC showed The Parent Trap on several occasions on The Wonderful World of Disney. This was always a fun film to watch at a time when Disney was focused on entertaining their audience instead of lecturing to them.
Thanks, that was great and it shows what Walt was. To still be called "Uncle Walt" and that he knew that she wouldn't get big recognition for her contribution, but wanted her to know how much HE appreciated her for it. You'd NEVER have that from this corporate disney!

This was one of my very favorite movies when I was growing up. As I got older, I still watched it, but that was more because of my crush on Brian Keith than the story line. Glad he is not here now, he would be heartbroken to see what they have done to his beloved company.
I’m a dude and love Brian Keith…and just adore Maureen in this. One of my very best of favorites. I didn’t grow up with Walt, but the amount of love and respect your generation shows him has definitely rubbed off on me. Thank you for the example you set!!!

I love this! The Parent Trap is a classic movie, never ever get sick of watching it. I didn't even waste my time watching the remake, I knew it would never be anything close. I wish they had put Susan's name on the credits...odd that one of the sisters' names is Susan. But maybe that was how they did things back then. When I saw it as a kid, I thought they were real twins. Then, I realized Hayley Mills didn't have a twin lol. Then I realized, the other was a fill in. My goodness they look enough alike that they could have actually pulled it off no matter what.

Absolutely loved this movie when I was 12. Still do. Have a DVD of it and watch it at least once a year. It was so great hearing about Susan Henning and the background of this movie. Thanks
I was amused throughout this whole video that she said she was Haley’s clone…except her nose…and her boobs…and her hair…and her rear…LOL. What a great story, though! So fun to see after watching the (IMO) superior Parent Trap since I was a kid!

What a wonderful story! The Parent Trap with Hayley Mills is my favorite Disney live action movie! My favorite scene is the confrontation between Sue(Sharon) and Vicky. “I’ve tried to be friendly, but, I’m going to marry your Father so get use to the idea!” “You wanna bet?”
This version of the parent trap is my favorite.
Mine too! I had a huge crush on Haley Mills. Didn't realize I also had a crush on Susan Henning, too. 🤣

I thought Hailey Mills played Susan and Sharon. It’s one of my most favorite movies.
I wonder if even tho they didn't put her in the billing if she still ended up in the end credits?
