So here's something that I'd love to see from other review websites, and I don't know how it would be doable: I'd like to know WHERE products come from. Specifically, I'd like to know the working conditions of the staff that manufactured whatever the product is. I don't want to be buying a product that was made by a company that is paying their staff pennies, whether that company is in the US or Canada or if it is elsewhere. Hold companies to a higher standard.
For certain things like computers, that are built from many components, I'd also love to see a breakdown of sources. Basically this would be a huge research undertaking for certain products. Other things would be simpler like cables or peripherals.

With your accelarting growth you really need to implement robust structures that ensure that your values and morals are ingrained into the company. Especially if you take in outside investment (like going public).

@@ritwikism that's why I said like going public. It would be the worst case scenario.
None of the two companies gone to shit I referenced, has gone public. There was just rapid growth due very good ecinomical circumstances and the money came from the bank.
It just that you quickly reach a point where you cannot control it all as the founder and need to losen the grip on the rudder a little. That is when you need robust structures that imprint your values into the company

I'm on board with this. I'm not so sure about being a reseller, that sounds like a REALLY expensive proposition with no appreciable returns if you're selling at a discount over sites like Amazon and Newegg or brick and mortar stores like Micro Center or Canada Computers. But a great thing I think that would value add to the "we're making a thing!" would be a bit of a peek behind the curtain on some of those things, showing how the sausage is made. Going even further in depth in videos on DIY capable projects (like making your own keyboard) which you could sell completed versions of is also appealing (I've always wondered how to make a controller, for example).

If you go into manufacturing or retail u should try your hardest to keep it separate from you. I believe you when you say something like you can be honest and transparent about the things you think are important but what's to stop you from reviewing negatively features u don't think are important. Example, Hardware Unboxing scandal. Nvidia had created something they believe was the best product and important to the future of gaming. I'm not saying you won't give out review samples. But I think maybe you could just gloss over issues others see and you don't see it as an issue. Nothing actively evil, but you have to be fair and be hard on your own "baby" of a product.
